So charismatic, so funny, so humble and relaxed BUT at the same time so serious and perfectionist at what he does. My hero and the hero of millions as we grew up. My respects to the great JCVD.
I love that Van Damme is not narcissistic or arrogant! He is really humble and a true martial artist and great actor! I would choose him over Steven Seagal any time.
"Nobody wanted to promote me so I promoted myself like a big boy, alone". So simple, right? And yet this is a lesson of hard work, humility and determination.
Bloodsport and kickboxer were part of my childhood growing up.....along with Rambo and commando....the 1980s was a vintage decade for action movies.....great times and a miss them
He is my favorite martial arts action star of all time. I was a big fan of his during the 1980s. I loved Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Time Cop, Double Impact and Sudden Death. He looks amazing throwing those helicopter kicks.
I didn't realise how much I missed Jean Claude Van Damme. I turn 30 this year, about the same age as he was here. He was there when I was a little kid, the crazy excitement I had every time he had a new movie coming out. Then he just faded away...
This guy had a dream and wouldn't take no for an answer. And he was right too, Bloodsport is a masterpiece and the producers didn't even want to release it at all.
Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Cyborg, Lion Heart, Double Impact, Universal Soldier, Nowhere to Run, Hard Target, Time Cop and even Street Fighter. The man was a true action STAR. Edit: Netflix uploaded Bloodsport onto their platform.
And he actually gave a proper performance in Unisol 3, JCVD and a cop thriller i forget the name of, he was actually great in it, and he's the best part of Expendebles 2.
He just seems like he doesn't take himself that seriously, so he's having fun, as opposed to Steven Seagal, who has an ego the size of half the planet, and is SO condescending when it comes to other martial artist actors. Yes he's very good at what he does as well, but with Steven-HE'LL be the first one to tell you so!
Man started cocaine in 1993right after hard target,in this interview he was totally clean and a real athlete, too bad that 1994 is the year that devastated his career, right after timecop,he rejected universal studio offers due to his lack of consciousness, ego and cocaine habits.Despite all his harsh times he still and will remain a great actor...
You can tell van damme was taking coke before this show started, sad part of his life but as a human being he's much loved and a great role model after his cleaning up his addiction and helping others with being positive and with nutrition and work out advises and training as well as continuing his career entertaining us fans of his movies love you Van Damme
I believe he will beat Steven Seigal's Jealous ass..I call Steven Seigal Jealous because he is bad mouthing Van Damme and I can see if Van Damme was talking shit. Obviously Van Damme is more talented and snagged way more roles
I just saw one with Schartznegger and now this. I like when these guys are on Arsenio because it's just a different energy than other talk shows. Arsenio is not as contrived as other talk show host and then his crowd is always amped, so you get these guest in their prime kind of have a bit more fun and playing with the crowd. Van Damme was very free in this. It was fun.
Ppl can say what they want about this guy. He's old school so he may come across overly confident, but back then action movies were awesome! This guy went as far as putting up his own flyers to help promote his movies. - As corny as they may seem now they were all great and I wish more of those movies showed up in theaters.
What a Total Package , a Bod , Camera friendly mug , a persona , a real fighter (unlike the other has beens) Sadly from the wrong country. Hollywood only likes certain strains of Blood. Inglish speaking back grounds is a huge bonus!!
Its always a matter of amazement for me to see and admire a human in such a spectacular shape and form as Van Damme. He has muscles, but not too much that would cause him to tense up too soon in a fight something that not many people realize. For a fighter too much of muscles are a disadvantage.
He's the best, i really wish he made more movies. Now that i'm older and look back, he was a little full of himself but nonetheless, the guy is a legend.
Watched unisol again last week, top film....actually I've been watching a lot of 90s movies again, double impact, blood sport death warrant etc all the best Van damme movies.
Even when talking about simple things like the movie business, you can see that van Damme is very smart. And you see hints of the go-getter attitude and the willpower that got him where he got. It's nice to see him so young, happy, carefree, positive.
He got some low budget movies that he is doing now a days definitely worth a look at just look him up on IMDb to see his recent movies, the guy still making movies I love it!
