I began my watercolour journey with this Van Gogh Travel Set of 15 colours. It was a great place to start. I've since replaced some of the paints with different brands, by cleaning existing pans and refilling from tube paints. I like the lightweight convenience of this tidy little travel palette. Tip: Did you know that the lid has another mixing area if you remove the top tray? You'll see a small rectangular slot on one side of the six mixing areas. The brush that comes with the set has a "scoop" end to the handle which fits into the slot to remove the top tray. Underneath, is a single mixing area the size of the lid, which is great for larger mixes for washes. My paints loaded into my current set up are: Neutral Tint (D.S.) Payne's Grey (V.G) Shadow Violet (D.S.) Pyrrol Scarlet (D.S.) Quinacridone Rose (D.S.) Transparent Orange ((W&N) Cerulean Blue (V.G.) Cobalt Blue (D.S.) Mayan Blue (D.S.) Yellow Ochre (D.S.) Yellow Lake (M.H.) Transparent Yellow (W&N) Burnt Sienna (V.G.) Raw Umber (D.S.) Hooker's Green (V.G.)

I bought Sonnet 12 full pan set as my first decent watercolor which came around 730/- At first I didn't expect much as it is supposed to be a student grade. upon unboxing however I discovered that the pans are exactly the same as the White Nights range which sales for much higher. The only difference I noticed is the expensive pigments like cadmiums and cobalts are replaced with synthetic ones and 3 colours have bad lightfast rating also the tray is made up of cardboard. I don't see this as deal breaker though because I am still learning, on the other hand the price is nearly unbeatable for the creamy super concentrated pigment and quantity they offer. I haven't tried Van Gogh so I can't compare how much difference is between these two but I ordered a set from Mungyo on your recommendation and I found it only slightly better than Sonnet. The only downside of this set is that it doesn't come in a pretty and solid box. Please consider trying these as it will be the cheapest set in your collection beside Camel and see how it compares to sets worth 2k+ Also beautiful artwork. It's amazing what you do with the grays. I always hated them in watercolors but seeing you use them makes me eager to learn the process...

I've now finished my scrapwood palette that I made with all handtools (8 color wells, and a mixing well). It's not as nice as yours, but I did fill it with an a selection of Van Gogh tube paints.

🖌I've been doing watercolor 4 months give or take, and I bought VG paints because of your reviews. I think they are going to be my lifelong brand. They work amazingly well for the work I do. Very satisfying. 🖌🎉😊 This may be a bit cliché, but "It doesn't matter how good your golf clubs are, it's the person swinging them." - Anonymous Golf and art both require constant practice. I believe Niaz could empty out the contents of a Bic pen 🖊 and still please my eyes. You Rock Sir.

Hi, sneaking onto hubby's account here as just sent him this video to enjoy in his lunch hour as he now owns this very set from me for a big birthday. He's never owned any paints himself, ever, can't even recall painting at school either. A local art shop recommended van Gogh over Cotman and they are lovely and creamy and easy to re-wet. Based upon your using a Royal Talens Art Creation sketchbook, I bought us both a small one, and myself an A4 one too, to start off with. No need to initially worry you'll be wasting the good stuff (100% cotton) when swatching, having a play with techniques initially or just want to try out sketching or pen and ink which you may or may not want to use wet media on after. I like how the RTAC sketchbooks paper flatten down much more than you'd think they would after initially warping with watercolour, it's not terrible, and acts like an index even, you can see which pages you've used watercolour on and get to those easily. We wonder what allowances you made to use the Art Creation sketchbooks as successfully as you have with watercolour? Also, we see you're getting on with the BaoHong paper Temu is selling, as are a lot of others. (I've only invested in a larger format Cold Press Arches pad and a W&N Pro watercolour pad. So I'm interested in a small pad of another brand too, so thinking of the BaoHong, as budget down to zero after my art spend!). Are their student and pro versions very much different from each other? Did you prefer one over the other? Would be Interesting to hear if you've tried these paper brands and where the pros and cons lie for each type. Is that an idea for a future video using this Van Gogh set as the paints tried? (You could use the Cotman set too if you really wanted to go into it all, and possibly end up with a headache). Thanks for your channel, recently subscribed, as couldn't stop watching! 🏆🖼 🖌🎨💌👩‍❤‍👨

I was a little surprised to see those bright colours going on to YOUR palette 😂 But i loved the muted colours you went on to create and use. Huge amounts of atmosphere in all your painting. Love them. Thanks niaz🌻🌿

I have my go to palettes filled with artist grade paint AND I have this same box by Van Gogh (it's been tweaked here and there with some color swaps using other VG paints). It's so much fun to use.

I’m a retired illustrator and graphic artist. About 20 years ago I found a Van Gogh tube set on a clearance rack. Prior to that I had a box of small, but expensive, WN artist grade tubes. When I found that I liked painting with them I reviewed their lightfast ratings to be sure they were worth using. I’ve used the VG primarily ever since. My only complaint is that in America it’s not always easy to find individual tubes.

I bought two of these VG palettes for a very good price and VG is still the brand that I recommend to every beginners in Europe. It's very affordable, excellent lightfastness, huge variety of colors and despite it is student grade it almost feels like artist grade. It's not so cheap outside of Europe I fear.

As always, a great demonstration of loose watercolor. Cannot find the 15 pan set online, just the 12 and 24 half pans. Great video. I do like the mixing pans on this set.

Niaz posted a link in his initial Van Gogh review I guess. If you are from outside India, try searching "Royal Talens 12+3". Also manually check those 12 colour sets too because the set is still marketed as 12 set even though it has 15 shades.

It is called a 12 pan + three set. The three apparently free. Put that in the search and you should find it.
