Excellent reaction. Diamond Dave was not only the best front man in the business, but he also had the best scream and he was basically gumby when it came to his splits and high kicks.
Listen, I’m 54 years old and let me tell you what was one of the best things about the 80s is that you can put out a video like this this video would not fly nowadays. We were not so uptight in the 80s and we didn’t look at things incorrectly, the way everything now is.
40 years 🎂 Written by Van Halen. RIP Eddie van Halen 😢 Controversial video back in 1984. Tame in 2024. Suggested video 📹: Van Halen performs I'll Wait live in Montreal in 1984.
I grew up when Van Halen was on MTV eryday. I gotta give them credit.. They rocked this sh*t Erybody had a hot teacher and spent time thinking about it
You have to go and watch Eddie Van Halen's "eruption guitar solo" from their without a net tour. He will leave you speechless!!! There is a reason why he is the GOAT(greatest guitarist that has ever lived!!!!
1984 was an amazing year and album. The year had so much great music. Van Halen, Prince released Purple Rain and a bunch of other amazing works. That was Eddie Van Halen playing the guitar by the way. His brother, Alex, was the drummer. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_Year-End_Hot_100_singles_of_1984
David Lee Roth (lead vocals) was about 29/ 30 years old when this music video was filmed in 1984 (He's 69 now and not quite as flexible anymore! 😂) He was the acrobatic frontman of the original Van Halen, but he wasn't the best live singer onstage... When he parted ways w/ Van Halen in 1985, he launched a solo career in 1986... but his success dropped by the 90's. David Lee Roth was losing his hair and his acrobatic routines looked ridiculous by 1994. Van Halen fans finally got their reunion w/ David Lee Roth in 2007 (bassist Michael Anthony was no longer in the band) and they toured until 2015. Sadly, Eddie Van Halen (guitar/ keyboards) passed away in 2020 ... His brother Alex Van Halen (drums) has been out of public view since 2015 and has not done anything since... David Lee Roth attempted to do solo concerts in Las Vegas, but dropped out after poor performances; at 69 years of age, Roth has been indulging in arts and crafts... Bassist Michael Anthony has been the only one still active in music... He and Sammy Hagar (vocalist who replaced David Lee Roth in Van Halen from 1986 to 1996) have been working on new music as Sammy Hagar & The Circle... and have been touring. They announced a Summer 2024 tour where they will be performing Van Halen hits in concert... Guitar legend Joe Satriani signed on for the tour and Jason Bonham (son of legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham) will be on drums.
RIP Eddie. Damn, this song rocks SO hard! This may sound funny but I go to drag races on occasion because I love it when a car at the starting line sounds like that drum intro, hahahaha! If you wanted to stay in the same vibe but take it to a deeper groove, might I suggest the Canadian band Rough Trade and their song High School Confidential. Another one about digging the Teach, but way more 'make your shoulders bounce' groove.
