It’s hard not to pick Wolfgang on anything Van Halen. Nuno’s a great talent. Yet, I agree with Rick Beato that Wolfie has that Van Halen time feel.

Yeah, I totally agree. I love both of those guys so much, this is like choosing between an excellent pizza and an excellent cheese burger. There is no wrong choice. But to you point, WVH definitely has a "swing" that Nuno either doesn't have or isn't emphasizing. It actually does bring me close to tears when I hear him do Ed's stuff because even if I didn't have video, it just sounds right. There's something there that he has that Eddie also had.

@@LikeMindedLunatics I think it’s because he grew up with them and learned drums from his uncle. Plus, some manner of inheritance. I’ve been watching Shane Hawkins and he drums somewhat like his dad and more like his Uncle Dave. He’s been playing stuff from the first Foo album and has that punk rock energy. There’s just something about growing up with it.

Yeah, I agree. I think it's probably related to language acquisition in that the earlier someone starts with a language, the more they can speak it like a native.

DAMMIT! I did not know that! We usually record stuff several weeks before it gets published, and I didn't even realize we were getting close to that number.

Nuni is great but Wolfie has his dad's rhythm and pick attack

Yeah, I agree with both those things. Nuno is phenomenal, but there's just something not quite right. For me, it's the sense of swing that Eddie had. He always felt like he had one foot in rock and roll and another foot in jazz swing. You can kinda hear it in stuff like hot for teacher. And Wolf just has it.
