I want to see a documentary about Van Halen. Something that's like a 2 parter, kind of how that All Or Nothing At All documentary was for Sinatra. The best song to play during the end credits would be "Could This Be Magic?". The problem with biopics, is they really need to rely on drama to be interesting at all, and there's just too much to cover with Van Halen to really make a decent 3 hour flick. Van Halen's 40 year history needs a documentary.
@B luv Sims This man was the young prince of Rock’n’roll but a vulnerable person. He should have never made his greedy brother-in-law the new manager. It was downhill from there, heath wise and music wise.
@@gokhanersan8561 Wait. "Brother-in-law"? Alex and Eddie didn't have a natural sister. Did one of their parents re-marry someone with a daughter? Inquiring minds want to know!

Not much of a comparison there..or VH 1...or 2...or Women and Children First...Or Fair Warning... perhaps Diver Down...just start at One..and rotate it through...over and over again...
Eddie........rest easy and you are flying with the Angels now. Thanks for making our high school years the best memories ever! You were a legend! My deepest sympathy to all of your family. Our hearts are broken..

You beat me to it lol Spot on! Nowadays bands or singers talk non stop political BS, stupid shit, boring self loathing misery. Zero happiness. Thank God for the 80's, the 80's sense of humor and the greatness of VH. I need a time machine back to the 80's. lol

no one but no one was or ever be as good as Eddie Van Halen, he was a freaking Monster on guitar and his inventions were just as admerable. he gave so much back to his craft. many future musicians can thank him for his accomplishments
true, but he kinda ruined music too. he built up this expectation in people that you had to be some overly talented showman on guitar. so many people have forgotten to just write music, and stop thinking about the expectations of these legendary players.
@@treatb09 are you flipping kidding me! "Ruined music "...wow! Your quote not mine brother. I respect everyone's opinions but your way off base here man! Everyone should strive to be the best at their respective craft and he accomplished that with true passion and perfection. Sorry you feel that way.
@@treatb09That's their problem then. Eddie just loved to play and if other people feel like they need to be a legend in order to be good that's on them and has nothing to do with music others have made.
Overall Hendrix did more for guitar to make it a for front instrument for everyone to emulate..Eddie did more for shredding in metal and evolved on the sentiment.
i wasn't hating on eddie van halen. he, like he says in many interviews, was just exploring and being himself... sure he pushed himself.. thats no secret. its just that people see that and want it to modulate them, rather than finding that in themselves.
Eddie was a genius. Like Sammy said in this video at 15:39 - 'he's just an alien some guy in this body cruising around - he'll be alright. That made me feel a bit better. If you are a true genius then you absolutely think that you are not and Eddie was like that. I miss him so much.
To Tony Hurst. Let me make you feel even mire better. Heaven reallly does exist. Being a Christian and inviting God into my life in 2008 but believing since l was 8 year old. I used to ask my parents why are we all here how was we al planned who is responsible for us being here. Now at 8 mam n dad said l was ahead of my time. I should have been thing of Barbie or dolls houses but no. Elizabeth me was thinking way outside the box. Then in 2008 l started getting this tapping but very gentke tapping feeling over my heart area. So my partner said to me who already was a christian said bring our Vicar of our church in. I did l brought William in. Told him my story. He said it is jesus standing on the other side of your heart asking if you will take him into your life. I said yes ive wanted this since l was 8. I had hung on to his robe like an obedient child. So we prayed l asked gor the forgiveness of my sins and said l want to live his way of life. So then after living with my partner l said l feel we should marry has l feel its right under God to do so. Do not get me wrong. My biggest love is rock l had done the Rock scene early all of my life nothing will change there. But god changes you over time for the better and through changing has a christian it is then that your friends and others then see that Christ does exist. I know because he has changed me and we all live in a broken world so much crap in it the way people treat each other. I saw something in Eddie Van Halen that was different every now and again l think God creates some people to show thier gifts and thier goodness and to show that beautiful people exists not just Eddies looks. He was a beautiful soul. So to make you feel better This earth is not our real home we are just passing through. No one can tell me that God does not exist. To make this world it could not have came on its own it just had to be planned. You need a creator even to make a car a house. Look at how a baby looks. How beautiful that is. A hand needs an arm a leg need a foot a head need a brain to move all parts. We have a supreme god who can do anything. But we are made to love each other be kind. Its not about how much money you have Eddie knew that too. So Eddie is safe. God would have been a socialist has Jesus is God he is the holy spirit too when he died on the cross he said. I will not leave you akone. He left the Holy spirit and in 2008 the Holy Spirit of God came knocking on my heart because he knew l was genuine. I had waited over 50 years for him. You see Gods time in heaven is different to ours that is why we sometimes do not get answer to prayer straight away. But in short Eddie is up there safe and sound. In a place were there is no more illness tears death pain. You have a new body when we go up to heaven. This placeis ruined by greed humans who do not care. Shootings stabbings greed. Jesus would have been a true socialist l think because he hung around with the poor. What would be the point in hanging around with the rich. The message is to change those who are rich to do more good for those less well off. Greedy ruling classes. Like the greedy Donold Trump he is a picnic short of a sandwich. Because he does not care for the American people especially the blacks. Can a rich man take his wealth through the eye of a needle yer. Well l will leave you. With the fact that, Eddie you are safe. You were a Ledgend down here you gorgeous soul. God will take care of Wolfie for you. All people need is a bit more Rocking Faith, with fire in thier bellies to believe. Rock them in heaven especially my beautiful husbsnd who was the harminica player in our band in England Called the Union Blues Band he too died of Cancer in 2012.. 5:17 The only reason they did that was to ensure that their contract was actually being read. If the brown M&Ms were there then they knew it wasn't read carefully.
Eddie even says in this interview that he said a few things about Dave that he regretted & he shouldn't have said. It seems he was really angry with Dave for leaving them, & wanted to get some retribution.
No...Sammy. You are a great vocalist and you play a mean guitar. But to this day...Im with the silent majority who say that ....NO ONE REPLACES DIAMOND DAVE ....ON THE MIC. IN VAN HALEN. In my heart, Van Halen died in 1985....When the great David Lee Roth heard that he was being replaced. Thats just the way it is.
Poor kid. He did have a great relationship with his Dad, even was able to record and tour with him. I am still very sad for him, Uncle Al will keep him close .
There's a reason they wanted M&M's in their rooms with the brown ones removed and it wasn't to be uppity d*cks: according to David Lee Roth in a Joe Rogan interview, the band had all kinds of problems at some venues with electrical power requirements for their show. They stipulated in their contract that they would HAVE TO have the venue address that no excuses. Some venues did not take them seriously so they put the M&M bit in the contract to see if they actually read the thing. Very clever.

But when I seen Van Halen with David...He was the ultimate front man! He was a friggin' animal, balls to the wall, no holds barred! And ALL of their earlier music was so unbelievable! If you were a teenager in the mid 70s...you were issued their albums (Van Halens) Along with Peter Frampton, Bob Sieger and Boston! It was mandatory! And we knew every single word to every single song...am I right?! Member playing all the great music on our 8 track tapes. Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen,,, close the book, nothing more need to be said except Fly Free Eddie, your time here is done, but we'll never forget.
At 5:40 ”he was selling millions of records on his own”. Pfft. Where’d they get these ”facts” I’ll never know. He was definitely not selling millions of solo records. Still isn’t. And, some people still think Sammy era sold more than Dave era. VH I and 1984 alone outsold all of the Van Hagar catalogue. None of this really matters, but it does piss me off sometimes.
the scary nervous &shakying moment that Clapton had when he saw&met Hendrix on stage, I'm very sure that it would be experienced by Hendrix as well, if he would listened & watched Mr Eddie Van Halen 👍🏆❗
Well, I remember the Rolling Stone coverage of the split. It seemed pretty logical to split from all perspectives. Watching Roth's performances here on the tube from 82 on, it makes even more sense - Dave had becomes a really deranged self-admirer.
Parts of this are from 1986’s “Van Halen Unleashed”....I know, because I watched it on MTV when it first aired! “I’m just a punk kid who plays guitar” understatement of the century.....
First VH album came out when I was 14 and when I first heard it I was like whoa, this must be what it was like to be a kid when Hendrix burst onto the scene doing things in his own unique way, completely unlike everything that had come before. Then II came out, and on it went. May he RIP, I gotta say as a guitar player myself (amateur) it just seemed to me that with every new album that came out with Eddie on it, most guitar players on planet earth heard it and said "man I wish I'd have thought of that". Any single one of the brilliant new ideas he put forth would have secured him a place in history, but he never stopped with new ideas and directions all throughout his career. The Isaac Newton of guitar players, I'd say.
I count my blessings every day that I experienced my childhood, teenage and young adult life without social media. So thankful for the 'real life' friends I have that are 40 plus years and counting. Stay well all. RIP Eddie, been playing your music non-stop since your passing
Sammy hagggerd....what a wannabe. He sounds like a mouse with a lungful of helium......not even close to good. When it's love??? Since when did Van Halen slip soooo badly? They should've found a good vocalist named Dan . An orphan. And adopted him. The new band could be named " Dan Halen".....
Sammy was a great choice to front Van Halen. They didn’t skip a beat in fact they got better. It was good while it lasted. RIP Eddie!! We miss you dearly.
He is an artist...an incredible artist. Big difference between an entertainmener( most of rock stars) and an artist. Eddie at a point even didn't care about anything period outside the of the box of music. For example he didn't care about the lyrics, his focus and investment want the music first and its construction. Always. From their , he was an inventor and innovator. Anyways,Totally agree with you man!
I feel sad for his wife and EX wife and Wolfe i lost my dad to Cancer. I'm so sorry for your loss 🙏 🙏 🙏 are with you. I love Eddie Valerie ❤ and there son Wolfe.
Watching this rockumentry,30 years from its release date, reminds me why playing in a band and, going through the hard ships is worth it. Why, because it's amazing what family can do . God speed Eddie we all miss you and thank for thinking out of the box.
When Dave left the band went from being the road warriors unstoppable when Sammy joined they turned into a top 40 generic mtv white nosie band of the day.
2:28 that proved untrue. Eddie later said Dave always felt like an outsider and they butted heads. It was a "divorce," and he was glad to see Dave go, because they had different visions for the music.
In Fair Warning you can hear the “tonal” sounds Eddie was capturing then when later with Hagar. Roth was dynamic/egotistical/ everything a frontman (rock band) frontman should’ve been when disco and punk was out, as well as the early 80’s... he LAID the groundwork for future “hair metal” bands BUT and I mean a huge BUTT.... SOMEHOW David Diamond 💎 Lee Roth FAILED to recognize he had a guitarist (.most likely) greater then Jimi Hendrix, and trust me, that’s hard to write but honestly probably true. If it wasn’t for the endless pussy, drugs, and everything... maybe Dave could’ve at least compromised and let the greatest guitarist of this century lead a little! With that said, Eddie being the younger brother to the bully Alex, Eddie never was a leader! Just a jester that was a genius guitarist that liked to always play music and drink and do cocaine a lot! Wayyyyy to many dynamics to this band for it ever to last but their talent allowed them to make great music for around 15 years and that is amazing considering!!!!!
@@theblueangel1973 Yeah, it's amazing they lasted so long. The Mama's and the Papa's broke up after only 2.5 years, for example. The Rolling Stones could have broken up many times, but held it together, despite the death of Brian Jones and Mick and Keith getting on each other's nerves for years after that.
@@DexterHaven there’s a pretty good book you should maybe check out called You Can’t Always get what you Want by Sam Cutler. Sam was an Englishman that managed The Rolling Stones and left them to manage the Grateful Dead. I believe he managed the stones up until Altimont and then left after that horrific experience that happened because of the Stones and went on to manage The Grateful Dead for 4 of their best years (late ‘69 till early/mid 74). It’s a great read even if you don’t like the Grateful Dead’s music. Btw, also anything out can read about the Dead’s history is a good read cuz their story is just amazing.... like how Owsley Stanley was a part of the government’s LSD trials at Berkeley university. They literally paid young people to try LSD around ‘64-‘65 and a young Owsley Stanley as well as a young Ken Kesey (who wrote the book One Flew Over the Cookoo’s Nest) partook of those “experiments/trials”. But anyways, Owsley (who was literally a genius) enjoyed the experience with LSD so much that he got a girlfriend that worked in the lab at Berkeley college and proceeded to walk into the college, grabbed a lab coat and then took around 500 grams of lasergic acid - 25 home and took it home and figured out how to make it himself. Turns out all of the acid stories you may have heard about from the 60’s rock stars WERE Owsley’s acid.... like Hendrix’s “Purple Haze” or when Jim Morrison was tripping off of 10,000 micrograms at his hotel room and late to his gig at the whiskey a go go and Ray manzerick went to get him and all he could manage to say was “10,000 mic’s man”, then went to the Whiskey and sang the version of The End for the first time with the oedipus section of killing his father and f’ing his mother that Paul Rothschild happened to see and sign the band... that was owsley acid. Not that I’m a huge acid lover but here’s where it gets good... Owsley seen the Grateful Dead in a shitty club, loved them and became their sound man/funder. Owsley’s acid monies paid for all of their equipment and going places, as well as he eventually was the mastermind behind not only recording every show (they are prolly the only band that you can find 30 years worth of amazing recordings AND listen for free over the internet cuz they wanted their shows to be free unless they decide to sell that show, then that date is taken down) anyways he eventually came up with the WALL OF SOUND in 1973! Look up the Wall of Sound! A massive sound system, on the stage, where someone a mile away from the stage could hear exactly what someone in the 10th row could hear without causing hearing damage to the band or audience in 1973! Just amazing history man.
@@theblueangel1973 Cool stuff! Yeah, I just saw the '60s music doc "Laurel Canyon," in which they said Mick screwed up when he hired the Hell's Angels partly from being naive and partly from being from a foreign country and not knowing what the gang was about. They showed clips of Altamont and the Angels' trying to keep order by hitting people with pool cues... Years later, when the Angels showed up to taunt Evel Kinieval at one of his jumps, the fans stood up to them; one of my favorite things to see -- a Hell's Angel getting smacked in the head with a 2x4 and falling over! Wish the fans did that at Altamont too.
@@DexterHaven in actuality and Sam Cutler explains it in the book, the mob and the fbi was involved in that concert! It was a whirlwind of shit. The mob was involved because the venue got changed last minute, the fbi because they were pissed the Stones were coming to America (it was their first tour) and being treated like royalty. So either the mob for their own reasons OR the fbi to make the Stones look bad, was giving people bad LSD mixed with SPEED and the Hell’s Angel’s got the blame because one of them stabbed that guy. Granted, the Hell’s Angel shouldn’t have stabbed the dude, but all of the drama and violence for hours would not have happened if say a couple thousand people weren’t having bad trips or speeding for the first time! It was a complete set up against the “peace” movement! Woodstock went off without any violence and “they” weren’t having it happen again with the Stones coming over AND they succeeded cuz Altimont basically was the nail in the coffin for the 60’s peace movement even if it happened in august of ‘69 or whatever. All I’m saying is it was a set up.
