Don't say that brother. Eddie Van Halen rocked the world music and still rocks it. He really created a way to play guitar and Rock & Roll. Let's show some respect, ok?
source of infection , naturally wired, 5150, pleasure dome , poundcake , judgement day , aftershock, seventh seal, sucker in a 3 piece, humans being, etc...pure hard rock bro , where the hell do you get your senses ? you don´t know what you´re talking about !! and I love both dave and sammy ! VH forever !!
@RNRDOLL He's playing a EVH Music man, that was b4 the Axis. The guitar switched to the Axis after he left Music man. I have a EVH music man and a PV Wolfgang and they are both great guitars but i like the EBMM better. It feels and sounds better to me.
I miss those days man. I was 13 when this was broadcast, got it recorded on VHS but this performance is all worn out now from repeated watchings:D I idolised Ed back then, what a great solo!
Fantastic to hear how this great band used to sound. What an awesome sound. You don't get anything like this anymore from anyone, no one as innovative unfortunately.
jeezuz sammy's got nuts in this - and mtv still had some balls too - and the music industry still had some nuts hahaha - now we get the black eyed peas in cardboard robot suits....
OMG!! eddie's even got the frankenstein print on the drill!!! the guitar he's using is his custom wolfgang model, named after his son. And paul gilbert used a little brush attachment on the drlil to tremolo super fast!
@cell9song Agreed - There are some 78/79 clips of Dave actually singing live but anything later Mike held it together - I'm guessing there'll be a LOT of pre-recording for their next tour...
I still think this was their best work sinse the old DLR days and you could even hear Michaels bass on the album for a change. One of the great albums of all time for me definitely.
I dont understand why people hated Van Halen (the band) when Sammy stepped in... without him Van Halen would have stopped existing. He sings really well. besides it's not all about the vocals.. it's about the thrilling shows, wicked guitar riffs, and high energy.
Reminds me of the days when music used to be something special. As for the Dave vs sammy thing i have on sentence to say. Van Halen: Two of the greatest bands on earth.
LOVE SAMMY...AND THE REST OF THE BAND......BUT, SAMMY DOES IT.....YEAHHHHHH home grown and down home..... ALEX IS THE BEST..... love MIKEY'S LEATHER PANTS..LOL...... V-H ROCKS......LUV THEM
Eddie Is the King, we have to admit almost every guitar player followed his amazing technique, I know Randy roads is great and via, and so on,,,but eddie is the King forever !!
i honestly think if eddie were forced to be honest, he wishes sammy was back with them, and hopefully, mike too. as much as i'm sure he enjoys playing with his son, he knows that sammy is the better singer than dave. some of those 2012 live vids of dave singing are just a joke. but he's not going to admit it. it's great to hear the classics but sammy pushed ed musically as mike has stated. mike was smart to go with sammy.
I feel your pain, man, but wait till you hear Emocore a la Tokio Hotel! You will cry back those good old days when you thought Hip Hop is the worst thing coming from your radio... Oh yeah, Van Halen rules.
Van Halen with David Lee Roth was very light and fast. Among the best stuff they did with Sammy Hagar was like this: slow and heavy. They should have concentrated on material like this. "Pleasure Dome" of F.U.C.K is another poof of that! Long Live Van Halen !
=VH= was on tour at this time and played the MTV awards in the middle of their tour, hence the reason they came and blew everyone away with their performance.
I saw Van Halen on the Canadian Leg of the same 1991 tour on Canada Day...excellent!!!!!so sad........now we have "guitar heroes" like John Mayer....i wanna puke.
Do you people think all those stacks are hooked up? In a traditional rock show you only need to mic 1 guitar speaker out of 1 cabinet to provide the signal needed to put the sound to the board. Which in turns is used to push the amps for the PA system for full range sound. A lot of bands will even minimize stage volume to keep it out of the mics for the singers. The cabinets you see on stage are a show. I doubt more than 4 x 4 x 12 are actaully going for any band.
@vanhalenkid He used to use these H&H mosfet power amps in the 80's and he'd plug all of those cabs on stage in! lol! Now there's just 3 cabs plugged in. He uses the other 2 heads just for power...not even plugged into the pre amp section but just the return input. Just power. The 3 heads are separate. Only the tone settings on the main (dry) head are used. (bass 7 mid 7 treb 3 pres 4 pre 4 master 7)
does anyone consider "for unlawful carnal knowledge" an underrated album? im doing a review series for underrated albums and i want to know if this album is qualified enough.
Sorry dude Paul used a drill with picks attached to it, Ed only layed the drill over the pickups to get a strange feedback/overdrive sound. paul was the first to use a dril on his guitar ( maybe jimi hendrix though but we do not know this for sure)
