My first concert was Van Halen 1982 at MSG in NYC,Diver Down tour. I was never the same since. I still remember it being one of the wildest nights I ever had. I wish I was 16 again.
VAN HALEN ROCKS!!! I remember seeing these guys in '81 with David Lee Roth, and they ended the show with this song! It Kicked Serious Ass!! VAN HALEN RULES!!!
Their first album came out when I was in high school. No one had ever heard anything like it before. I still like the first album best because of that. Loved Van Halen with Sammy too. That was a different band for me.
shit he probably snorted that gram then look into the mirror and got high offa his ego. Gotta live David Lee Roth great song and good stuff. He turned 60 today!!
I have to say, this, along with Romeo delight and unchained are the songs that grown on me the most over the last couple of years while I've been listening to van halen and to this date I've not found one mediocre song by them, but if I had to choose, it would be happy trails and big bad bill. I wanna know what everyone else's favourite and least favourite van halen song would be.
to hear eddie effortlessly put fills over his already awesome guitar parts is proof of he's a beast. his soul just swirls thru the metal and wood in his hands.
I think DLR is really enjoying his wacky "shirt" here. For so long I wanted one just like it. And now I've finally got one. Thank you, Amazon! I think I'll wear it to work tomorrow. Btw, I work at a church.
David Lee Roth made everyone feel they were there with him. Fantastic personality. Fantastic presence. Fantastic vocals. Not as good as Sammy Hagar live with regard to pitch and timing. Always perfect in the studio. I love Diamond Dave. The best part of the 80's.
Saw Van Halen at the Cow Palace back in the 80s and the band was there to rock but David Lee Roth was in this same form hammered are you having a everybody me too. I think they sounded good with the Red Rocker!
my kids (6,9) and i watched Aladdin the other day and when the questions came what 3 wishes you would want the Genie/Robin Williams to grant you.... I could not help think whether to come back to live 20 years of the life of as a member of Van Halen.....bigger question seemed to me whether as Eddie or David Lee.......I was more to the side of DLR before my kids told me their wishes...
David Lee Roth was always the recipient of a love/hate relationship with fans of rock/metal....time seems to have changed many haters into the realization that this was a man who was cocky, but lived and loved the rock n roll lifestyle.....at least for that he should be given respect. David always made the claim that all the other rock musicians focused on what they SHOULD have done or what is coming ahead instead of focusing on the moment...he claims this focus to be a moment of "ZEN"...
I saw them in 1978 at the Forum in Inglewood. Roth was wearing gold Lycra pants, doing flips & drinking whiskey, until security took it away. They sounded awesome! I can't say the same here.
