hi raul m8 its a easy fix take the egr valve off and spray brake cleaner or crab cleaner inside it and refit and it will be as good as new ,, ive done it on cars vans and even daf xf trucks
Thank you my friend! Out of all the videos I've watched this is the best. I've had intermittent limp mode on my car and the fault code doesn't make sense so I got a bidirectional scanner and hoping my issue is as easy as yours is.
I have no experience with sprinter vans but cars I’ve worked on you can get a can of egr valve cleaner. If you can get to it spray the cleaner in and it should free it up.
I have the same scanner, it is pretty good, just used it to bleed my ABS! The first thing I did was delete all the makes I will never need, and just updated everything else.
Great review. I think those sprinters are notorious for those issues and nearly stranding you in limp mode. It's an issue with all modern diesels and it's really driving values higher for older ones without this complexity. I just bought this scanner and I'll let you know my thoughts after I use it.
Hi Raul just watched your video in it you say not trusting mechanics ive never trusted main dealer mechanics ive found a lot of them are franchise and rip people off, ive been going to a garage in bootle for over 20 years and never had a problem people I know who have been ripped off by garages have started going to the same place as me, ive always worked on recomendations. The guy I go to was recommended and it's paid off
I had a similar problem with my Ford S-max 2.0 tdci. I got a blanking plate and deleted the error code. The problem was solved. After the MOT test there was no difference in exhaust gas particles. So I do not know why there even is a egr valve in my car. But I see you point of not entirely legal with blanking the valve. Like some of the other guys here say it could absolutely be worth to clean the valve. The egr is always full of gunk and gets stuck. Hope that you get it sorted mate. And thanks for the tip on the obd reader. I have a cheap one that works on most occasions but I see the benefit of a more expensive one with more options. Take care.
Thing with the delete is that it's quite ilegal, and from what i heard they are watching cars that are smoking and they pull them for checks, especially in europe eg germany or austria. Don't want to take any chances as it might ruin my holidays 😁
I totally understand that. Some cars do not have any problems with blanking and others can show signs of it by excessive smoke and such. But anyway. Good luck mending the EGR issue mate.
I wouldn't say 100% to replace the egr but in my opinion all they did was clean it,wich doesn't last very long, so I wouldn't go for cleaning it again it may be a waste of time, If the engine is runing smooth and no excesive smoke or anything I would replace it,otherwise if it smokes it will get blocked again
Thanks for your suggestions. The engine is not smoking, and runs well, just in limp mode. Just got another opinion and now it much possible to be the dpf aswell doh😩
@@Raul689 If you don't have an error code with dpf or the dpf warning light in dashboard (or the van smoking wich could block it) then the dpf is not a problem,as a couruer I had my fare share of problems with dpf s and egrs, mostly from driving slowly around town, but as soon as I hit 60 mph the dpf eror cleared, the egr on the other hand is a consistent problem wich need to be fixed,some say by blanking it(wich might fail you the mot ) or replace it, try autodoc it might be very cheap to replace it, or try to find a diesel specialist with good rating,not just an ordinary shop ,they might be able to help you.
