I absolutely love this style of video! The mixture of behind the scenes with valuable information is a great combo. Keep up the awesome content, Christian!
I agree. I think the vanlife audience wants to live vicariously through van lifers and your on point camera skills combined with lots of views and perspectives gives a great feel.
Twice in one week Christian. You'll spoil us. Another very nice video where you share your life and invite us into your home/office/life. Thank you for taking the time to film, edit and post for our enjoyment and help us to better understand your journey. Stay safe.
Just stumbled across your videos- takes me right back home to big open skies aflame with sunrises and sunsets- mountains, endless vistas, alpine lakes and flowers- Thank you! Just what my soul needed in the midst of our 3rd hard London lockdown. Grew up on the American road with my mom in vans and trucks and school buses- all over the West Coast and South West- as a grown up I migrated to London years ago and now usually slow travel several times a year- but like everyone right now I am confined to one space for now...dreaming of the day when I can hit the road again. Your videos might just help me pass the time easier! Thanks again and Happy Travels to you!
It's always cheering to see one of Ur videos. Good advice on wi-fi. I woke to 6 inches of snow in Prescott this morning. A good tip about Cholla (Teddy Bear) cactus is to carry a hair comb it will help with removing the thorns quickly & with one move....wayne
Thanks for the tip, definitely will start carrying one around from now on 🌵🙏🏻 And yeah - I drove through snow today, too! Didn’t expect that so far south
I really love your videos, they are so inspiring. I trying to all the information I can from someone who will tell the truth. I have been wanting to do this for about 2 years now but wasn’t sure about the risks or how to really get started. I saw your video about what to do before you step out there and I was surprised that nobody else said what you were saying. Thank you so much for the real story. I’m excited to get started and will continue to follow you. Oh the videos scenes are beautiful!!! Maxie
Just stumbled across your videos and now have watched several of them. You have a very nice set up in your van and it seems to offer everything you would personally need or want. You've also done a very good job of answering questions and clarifying to viewers what your van life is really like. I wish you continued success and good health.
Love your van build every time I look at It! Beautiful interior, very functional & stylish. :-). Thank you for sharing these videos and your experience. Take care and stay safe Christian... oh be careful around the cactus too! :-)
Hi there, loving your videos your really informative and love seeing some of your views.. amazing. Three things I wanted to say.. 1. Shower : why dont you put two hooks on the top right and top left of your back doors looking from the inside the van and also either side of the interior get some washing line on hooks x2 and then two shower curtains.. when you open your back doors hook them up and that will protect the inside of your van from getting wet and also give you a private cubicle to shower in either using your solar shower or get a small pump shower that connects to your battery they arent expensive. You can buy wooden shower mats to stand on that will tuck away, That would solve your shower issues. 2. Post. You obviously know where your going at least a week in advance why dont you just call a camp site and ask if they would mind what ever your ordering to be delivered to them I did this and they were all great it solved alot of problems and it only takes two minutes to change your delivery address on amazon or Ebay etc. 3. If you dont mind me saying you really dont seem to be enjoying your over all experience being in a van although your having some amazing adventures, you seem a bit stick in what you want out of life like your a bit in limbo. You'll look back on this time and realise what an adventure you had so try and relax maybe make a plan of what you do want ie. Building your house. Make a date stick to it but then promise yourself a couple of months of really getting in to camp adventure mode and really enjoy what your doing :-) From one adventurer to another dont let the rat race spoil your enjoyment of what life is truly all about as you will regret it in later years embrace , enjoy .... . Stay safe and have fun x Lou x
Watching from Cape Town, South Africa - Absolutely love your lifestyle, and the peace you surround yourself with. Showing us how to be a fantastic "beach bum/traveller/naturist", but still have great Internet.
Always enjoy your videos. I used to live in Arizona. When I would hike in the desert I would carry a large comb in my pocket. Then when I would get a cholla ball stuck to my pants or shirt sleeve I'd take the comb, insert it between needles and comb the ball off. No need to touch the cactus with your fingers at all.
@@ChristianSchaffer well...you can find Alligator if you are going out to look for them, or at some restaurants 😁 I have seen a few snakes, but they have always been self isolating 😉 I left you other details about our location on a different video. If you think you might like to visit, we can chat and I can send you lots of photos on Telegram.
Truthfully, we like having a nice shower, toilet, washing machine. You would definitely be surprised how we are able to live like we do, while living in a 20' trailer. Living simple doesn't mean you have to go without all the comforts.
You have one of the best van build outs I have ever seen! Beautiful scenery, and finding the internet is the biggest problem I see in most.Wi boast ? Them coyotes don’t sound friendly but the skies are beautiful My kinda food, adventure, only with my pup. I can only dream and see the world through your eyes. Thank you.
That was a nice bowl of goodness! Ki have some 🙋♂️ ......is that a wooden spoon too! great content btw, nice tones of grey/whites for your cealing and wooden walls
Great to see another interesting video with awesome pictures of nature. Those sunsets and sunrises are so beautiful! Looks like you've turned cooking healthy into a science. And reading a book with no distractions might even be the highlight of your day!!
You guys should check out some rad hikes in the Superstitions out east of Phoenix. Theres a hike up to flat iron you can do in a day or camp up top for a night and hike back down. Miss that place..
New subscriber here. I know this video is older, however, I love it, and not because I live in AZ but because the desert sunsets and sunrises are magnificent.
Thanks Christian! That was a great video! Unfortunately I didn't understand it because you talked so fast and I'm not that scientific or knowledgeable yet! But life is for learning and I can hopefully watch this a few times and may be go to a computer store before I hit the road! Thanks for showing us how gorgeous deserts are! And how to avoid sharp cactus! I did notice peyote! Did you? And those sunsets were so incredible that they showed me what Heaven will look like for me! Also thanks for showing us your food although you went super fast with it too! Maybe we will need recipes for all that healthy stuff! I have a question. Where do you keep your dirty laundry and how do you carry it home without it wrinkling? Please keep up your wonderful lifestyle and showing it to us!!!
Thanks for watching, Rita! I keep my dirty laundry in a hanging bag behind my driver seat so it’s hidden 🤓 I roll all of my clothes after drying them, so they don’t get too wrinkled. I also have a handheld steamer in the van for times that they do 👚
Beautiful sunset - wow! Glad you’re doing well! Nice internet tips for road life! Cheers! I’ve enjoyed seeing more from you on YT - it’s just gives us more of what I enjoy from your IG.
So nice to see you posting vids more often lately. I really enjoy your channel, very relaxing to watch. I have a few oil paintings that I did in the past several years that look a lot like some of your photos / scenes on YT and IG. Ah yes, strumming on the guitar. I need to do that more often too. Have you ever traveled to Bethlehem, Israel? When I was in the Navy, we had a port call in Haifa. I wish that I could have seen more of that country. Safe travels and Blessings always!
Thank you 😊🙏🏻 I’m really just beginning to learn the guitar, but it’s a goal of mine this year. I have been to Jerusalem, though I forget if I passed through Bethlehem...such a remarkable area tho
Thanks John 😊 I’m taking a little break from commercial projects right now to focus on learning video, shooting video, and hopefully building up my blog a bit. I try to slow down in the winter months because once summer and fall hits, things get real busy photography wise 🤓
Chris, i love this insight in your day! I still have this dream about building a camper and travel with it. Still there are many things to prepare, one is building my own business i can do remotely and quit my job as employee. But the dream is worth it so i seriously stick to it. But to see that this really can work in reality is quite motivating, so thanks for your content. In hope for further updates in the near future!
Great setup Christian! We have the Weboost Drive X on our boat and it pulled cell phone signals 20 miles offshore! Perfect to connect to my hotspot in a pinch and do some remote website updates for a client. Quite amazing when you need to connect online in less than ideal locations! One thing to note is that it downgrades your signal if your cell phone service is already strong. So using that internet speed check is integral to determine if you need a "boost". Omg, into the wild flick- haha! Btw, love your videos! They are well thought out and composed with music, camera angles, great lighting, subject matter...
Christian, one thing to keep in mind when using Speedtest. The faster your connection, the more data you send and receive. You can easily use a few hundred megabytes of data with each test. In the app, click the hamburger menu and select Results. Tap each result and you will see how much data was used. Oh, and I also love your videos. You talk about the things that we all want to know (mail, hygiene, the list of things to consider before committing to this lifestyle, etc.)
Those skies are amazing. If I were there they would inspire me to play “little fluffy clouds” by The Orb. Beautiful video by a gorgeous girl. Happy travels
You got like all the tech that I like enjoy and use :D plus an aero press! I don’t really drink coffee but I do love that thing a ton! If I do drink coffee that’s what I use :D for me I got to have my bose headphones. I’ve had my Mac for a super long time and love the audio and camera quality so huge 👍🏼
AZ is looking amazing.. I moved to CA from AZ in the beginning of 2020 and holy hell did I not expect everything to go down like it did... As you know with the lockdowns it has really been a drag. I'm shooting out to AZ for some adventuring soon. Thank you for the inspiration to help get through some serious down days here in the city... Stay safe.
I'm going to create a new personal playlist here on RU-vid just for videos with great ideas on how to do vanlife. This will be the first one because of your tips on how to receive the internet in remote places. Thanks. Oh, and welcome to Arizona. The desert is beautiful.
Totally inspiring me to pick up my Cameras and get back into landscape and video again. That sunrise with the mountains and low fog was epic. Keep up the great work!!
Would love a video on overcoming loneliness and keeping mental health while experiencing life, long stretches in near solitary confinement. (I travel for work)
@@yakalaka6376 thank you. I think we would all benefit. I'm almost done with a two year project and have to admit, depression has set in, in different ways. I try to stay busy and happy. But it's harder to communicate with people. Not sure if it's me or the times.
I think that’s a great topic. I’ve been traveling with @NathanielWise since the pandemic began, so I haven’t really been alone since then. Just here and there. That said, I do feel a massive loss of community and meeting people is harder (and even controversial) these days. Sending you a big hug. I know that doesn’t mean much since we don’t know each other - but still. I think we all need reminders here and there - even from strangers - that we’re never really alone.
