Councils may put up signs telling of parking restriction times, but sometimes those times are at odds with the working hours of the parking inspectors. For instance, a sign saying that there is free parking after 10 pm is a bit of a toothless tiger if the people policing those times finish work at 5 pm! Most councils will baulk at the idea of paying that sort of overtime or even shift allowance. It's cheaper to put up signs with an implied threat of legal action that isn't going to happen anyway, than it is to pay time-and-a-half and double time overtime or 15% or 20% shift loading. It might take a bit of time finding out how they roll, but once you do, you should be sweet.

@@michaelboyce7079 Not thrilled about the idea of signs going up here, but love the loophole you’re addressing. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that but am happy we’ve got a plan in place if that’s the case. Thanks for the advice:)
