Yep, that’s how I always interpreted this song too. And I’ve heard this played at funerals and memorial services. My kids know to play it at mine.

Van Morrison is great, thanks for the reaction - subscribed! A Bonnie boat was a smaller european fishing boat, but if they sounded the fog horn it usually was a danger warning. In this case it's the arrival of home - so he doesnt have to fear it. Van Morrisons (his Irish roots come through) Tupelo Honey (bluesy) is great & so is Sometimes We Cry, the version with TomJones is pretty kickass as well. Are y'all interested in ZZ Top?
