I'm getting there with the power system now!
Only a handful of small appliances and the DC-DC- battery charger left to do after everything I manage to put together in this video.
If you have questions don't be scared to ask in the comments, I get back to every comment I receive.
I look forward to seeing you in the next one.
Stay safe & be kind,
Matty

Brilliant one Matty. Fabulous way of explaining the electrical systems. Even I can understand it, just haha. Plenty of solar coming in as well. Awesome van build mate 👍

This has been a great series of videos, I'm never likely to build an offgrid van but your explanations are clear and I've learned a lot about how the components are arranged. Looking forward to seeing the decor and trim being added. 👍 Come the zombie apocalypse or alien invasion I'll be looking you up.☠👾

Great video mate! I bought my converted Crafter with the whole electrical system already set up and I'm trying to find my way around it all. Your video here helped me understand a good few things! I might need to do some cable management as well 😅 yours is spotless!

I wouldn't say mine is spotless but I've tried to keep it neat 😚 Glad you found my video useful!

Why fit an inverter? Just to use a lap top when you can use a 12v lead that’s very safe and you will use a lot less power too 👍
@TheWoodlandNomad
@TheWoodlandNomad Год назад
You can't get one for my laptop mate, she's too powerful. Because it's for gaming/editing you can't get a 12v lead, I checked everywhere, even called a couple suppliers to have them confirm.

Any reason you wire the inverter straight to the batteries instead of to the bus bars? Does it matter?
@TheWoodlandNomad
@TheWoodlandNomad 5 месяцев назад
Couple reasons that I have but you're right, you'd be fine to wire directly to the bus bars. 1. The terminals are too large for my bus bar screws but fit onto the batteries well. 2. Shorter cable, which is always good practice with high power devices. 3. I prefer to follow the manufacturer's instructions with big ticket items. So long as the inverter is fused and the cables are suitable then either way works fine. Also check your bus bar can carry the amperage. It's usually really high but it does have a limit.

16mm would of been better then 10mm IMO
@TheWoodlandNomad
@TheWoodlandNomad Год назад
You can always go bigger but I saw no need with it being rated for 70amps and I'm never going to put more than 30 through it and that'd be every single device, USB and light on all at the same time. Plus it's fused so the fuse would go before the cable was under any stress.

It wasn't easy but it's one those things in life. I wish her all the best and I'm sure she will find happiness again if she hasn't already.
