This is the kind of environmentalism I like. It's about time we conserve and prolong the things we used a bit more - rather than always resorting to the adage of just throw it out. The innovative minds and teamwork that comes from this is also worthwhile. There is a mutual satisfaction to humankind here.

Too bad the manufacturers of the world aren't playing ball. Apple spends billions of dollars in lobbying to fight right to repair laws and suing independent repair shops. They also lied by claiming it was impossible to use a standard USB-C port to their devices until EU law forced them. And pretty much all major manufacturers (cars, appliances, medical devices, tractors, cellphones, etc) operate like this.

I actually found out about the Repair Cafe through a local newscast (Global I believe), brought in a Bluetooth speaker that needed a new USB port, despite its slightly banged up look and missing a couple of screws, it functions, Thanks repair cafe! And to the guy who fixed it, I hope your drone works now, I was happy to let you practice on my speaker! Sorry it was such a pain in the neck to get the cover off, even if you did find the challenge interesting

Love it! I'm frequently repairing things myself. The latest was the remote in one of those massage chair cusions. About to fix the lift gate actuator on my SUV when it's warm enough. You can save so much waste, and money, learning to repair things. RU-vid often has a video that will show you if you're willing to try. Nothing to lose, it's already broken.
