Our daughter spent a winter season in Nelson. It has to be one of the best little towns in the world. We went for the skiing but the roads would be fantastic in summer. BC is so beautiful.
I'm looking to buy a CB500X as well. I currently own a 2017 Harley SGS used for touring but now looking for an adventure bike to add because the guys I ride with also have adventure bikes and do that as well. After researching, the CB500X is just an awesome bike with a great price point and will handle better if you go off road then those big 1200 series.
Love your vlog, Megan! And Canada...what a beautiful country. Scenery is stunning, not that different from what we got here in Norway. Wild nature, vast open landscapes, snowy mountains, lakes. Like in Norway, you really get a feel for that pristine, untouched nature. I just love that! To take it in and take part of living an active life with a motorcycle, share experiences and just...ride on. Ride on.
Geir thank you so much for watching and commenting. I have yet to discover Norway, but have heard many comparisons between our beautiful countries, as you mentioned. We are certainly the lucky ones to be able to enjoy such incredible landscapes on two wheels. Safe riding!
Much respect... some of those early inexperienced rides you took were a testament to your tenacity, and now you're reaping the benefits ;) I'm from Vancouver originally, but grew up in So California. No matter how many times I take my wife (Filipino) up to Canada, she's always ready for more. Banff, Kootenays, Whistler, Vancouver; some of the most beautiful rides and places on the planet. She's been itching to visit again... As soon as Covid is behind us, we'll be riding north!
Nice! I've been obsessed with British Columbia for its nature and spectacular cities (my favourites are Vancouver and Victoria but I know there are many more. Nelson seems nice too). I'm really digging those road trips although I'm not a motorcycle guy. I'd probably do that in a car. The other day I watched a cross-country trip where these dudes travelled from Ontario to British Columbia in a rental car. They couldn't fly because of the pandemic. Canada's countryside is inspiring.
Tim, thanks for watching. Obviously my passion is for two wheels, but no matter how you travel, Canada is indeed a beautiful country with inspiring scenery! I think train would be a really neat way to see the country too!
The best thing that you can ever do is having a ride in this amazing wilderness, British Columbia is one of the best livable places on earth, keep it up girl !!!
Hey Megan! Shifting to Vancouver in September! Learning how to maintain and fix my own bike until then. Can't wait to get there and start riding in the Summer of 2021! I know it's a long way off but this road is on my list now! Thanks for the video! Going to binge on this series.
I live in the Kootenays. I never get tired of riding the Kootenays. But I often head off to see family in Kelowna; sometimes through Beaverdell, and sometimes through Osoyoos.
Congratulations, Canada is really beautiful, I am from Brazil and soon I will do all the Americas on a motorcycle, and Canada is included in this adventure, thanks for sharing your adventures !!!
Awesome, this video popped up as a recommendation... I live in the East Kootenays (Ex-Brit, arrived here 12 years ago.)... this was a great video to watch... was in Nelson area for a month last summer... the riding was superb... hope you gave the Kaslo / new Denver (31a) a go... the twisties on the east side of kootenay lake, Crawford bay to Creston are really good fun too. I look forward to seeing your journey. Stay well Steve
Really happy to know you caught the riding bug Megan, but even happier that you've chosen to share your adventures with other liked-minded souls! I'm a 63 year old Aussie, currently living in Armenia, but unfortunately haven't ridden for over 10 years...back problem:-( However, I get great pleasure out of watching a select group of videos made by motorcycle enthusiasts like you...so I've just added your channel to that group:-) You have the unique ability to take others with you on your journeys in a very positive way...so I thank you for that. Stay safe and keep enjoying your motorcycle adventures. Regards, Mitch
Hi Mitch, I'm delighted to hear you are enjoying my channel from Armenia. Thank you for watching and commenting! Riding is my biggest passion in life and I am lucky to have a few loved ones that I share the adventure with from time-to-time.
Towns like Nelson are great. If you are in North Carolina, check out Hendersonville. Western North Carolina by the Smoky Mountains. Thanks for posting. I enjoyed your post.
Wonderful, really nice video Megan. I'm new in motorcycling world, I just bought a new motorcycle after seeing your videos. I live in Victoria, you're welcome if you want to visit it, maybe we can ride together 👍
I enjoyed your trip to the Kootenays. I used to live in Nelson 69-71 (so happy to see Nelson town) and loved the area while attending the University of Notre Dame. Keep up the good work!
Enjoyed this video alot! Pip stop?! 😞👍 And that whole pizza wow, what a woman! Thankyou Megan. Oh, not forgetting that beautiful scenery as always, the main reason I I subscribed to your channel. Double thumbs up 😁
@@MeganKaptein Just to clarify, Surname Norman, first name Mark🙄😁 Being called Norman is like being back at school for morning registration 😄 Appreciate your reply. Ride safe.
Hi Megan, Lisa and I ought to kidnap you with us to Banff in 2021. Your journey so far is incredible with so much scenery. Tips on off-roading: It is no race so just take your time at your own pace. Enjoy the surroundings. Steady and constant throttle. Not too slow off road as you want a constant speed if you get into sand or it gets a bit rocky. You've got this! Can't wait to see the rest of the episodes.
I’ve been to Toronto 3 or 4 times recently on business which are my only trips to Canada (I’m a 50 something, S1000XR riding bloke from England). The thing that I find most striking is that everything is so beautiful in Canada. If I knew this 30 odd years ago I’d have bought a one way ticket....
Great video. I'm from south of the border, about 45 minutes from Vancouver, and I made it to Osoyoos via hwy 3 and back via hwy 20 in Washington as a (long) day trip. Can't wait to see the rest of your series to see what I missed. Maybe next summer :)
There’s so much great riding all over BC including around Osoyoos, so don’t feel too bad. :) But if you do get the chance to go next year (especially during spawning season) I highly recommend it!
Keep at this Megan, you'll get where you want this channel to go on your journey. I wonder why you don't already have 2M+ subscribers by now. I really enjoyed the supercar drive you did with your Dad! Cheers from FL.
Wow, your country is so amazingly beautiful. I've been to BC as a child, camping with my parents. But I was too young to appreciate it. I would love to go back there again. This time on my CB1100. BC is so gorgeous I would love to move there, except I couldn't bring most of my guns LOL
Hi - just found your channel. I like what you are presenting. Just pure joy of riding a motocycle. Sensible riding :) And such a lovely scenery Canada can offer - some of it looks a whole lot like my own country, Norway (though in a larger scale ;) )
Great stuff!! Canada is stunning, can't wait until July when I'm invading with the wife and some friends to see the Calgary Stampede and then go exploring for two weeks!!!! Safe riding Megan. Steve
Really a great video. I had to subscribe!! I'm a older retired gent who's been looking at videos on the BC motorcycle scene, since I'll be making the cross country ride from near Toronto to Vancouver in early June if things go as planned.
Hi Megan, thanks for sharing BC wildlife and nature scenery! It looks amazing. Keep sharing these places so maybe one day I can rent a CBX 500 and do a similar trip. Regards from Ecuador.
Glad RU-vid recommended this video! How did they know I've been wanting to ride in Western Canada? Live in Portland, so it's an easy jaunt up north! Thanks for the great videos!
Scenery looks spectacular. I ride mostly in Nova Scotia where we have some beauty rides too. Look forward to more vids from your channel. Hope to get to the west coast soon to do some ride therapy.
Well done Megan, great to see another inspiring rider sharing their journeys, experiences and tips!! Keep it up, can`t wait for the next ones, safe ride!!
I was just up there on my Road King this last September on a 5 week, 6K mile trip. Was only going to spend the day in BC, entered through Roosville, up to Cranbrook, down to Creston on Hwy 3. In Creston , Hwy 3 turns into 3A if you miss the turn, like I did. I rode clear up to Kootenay Bay, halfway up the lake before I realized my mistake and turned back around. Stayed in Creston that night and back into the US through Porthill the next day. Shouldn't call it a mistake as Kootenay Lake was pretty awesome to ride along, sometimes getting lost is a good thing!
Just discovered your video’s this morning, you did a great job of documenting your ride, thank you for making these and sharing with us, job well done!
Just came back from Whistler. I was skiing but couldn’t help but notice the amazing motorcycle roads. I’d love to come back on the bike and do some exploring. Enjoyed your video very much. 😊
Megan Kaptein I haven’t pulled that one off but I have been lucky enough to snowboard and whitewater kayak in the same weekend. You’ve now established a new goal for me. 😊
@@squirtmph In Chicago for the past 25 years. From Seattle originally and my wife is from Calgary. We bought a property on Pender Island (in the Gulf Islands) 15 years ago and are moving there. Then I'm riding my Tiger to Alaska.
@@WayneKoufsWorldTour WoW! I have being in & out Seattle. Wouldn't be huge wather changes for ya'. I would like to move to Seattle but I'm not sure if or I could ride when it rains... Thanks for let me know your background, Sir
Looks like good trip. Exploring geography of BC, Western 🇨🇦. The Honda 500 looks like smooth running bike (60+ mpg?),No issues off-road, other than slight change in sneakers.
thank you for all info, I'm from the east side of canada (a French canadien from Montreal) and one of my dream is to travel across the country and see your wonderful part of the country.
Do it Robert! Even if it’s one province (or territory!) at a time. We live in a great country with such diversity, you owe it to yourself. Bonjour from Ontario.
Thanks for sharing your adventure series with us, my wife and I have been riding most of our lives me 50 +years and Cher 45 + and have lived in Japan and New Zealand and have to agree with the Kootenays as being some of the best riding in the world. 2007 we moved from Auckland to Cherryville BC and life along HWY6 . Hope to see you soon and your always welcome up here in paradise . Keep the pictures rides and smiles coming Thanks
Oh wow! That’s an amazing legacy that you’ve both been riding for over 40 years. I hope to be like you two some day. :) And so nice that you can be based near HWY 6 and have easy access to such incredible riding.
@@MeganKaptein We lived in New Zealand for almost 20 years and rode most of it amazed constantly, but Hwy 6 is like medicine for us now. 100kms to Edgewood and the General store great food and gas or our favorite Joes Roadrunner food truck by the park there, great burgers and amazing fries and I have eaten a lot of good fries in NZ . Leland Hotel and lunch on the deck overlooking Arrow Lake is worth the ride from Vancouver in and of itself. Park is empty shade and views world class. If you keep travel notes JitterBeans in Lumby is bike friendly great food and treats and magical coffee. Glad that your finding your smile again, friends who ride share a passion and joy of movement that really is unique to motorcyclists. Look forward to your next instalment. Snow is retreating but sub zero overnight temps slow the process terribly, bikes out of the shop late March for service tires then on road April. Ride safe
@@ROBERTTIMCO Thanks for the tips. I just saved Jitter Beans in my Google Maps and noticed she serves Parallel 49 coffee. Will definitely make a stop next time! Safe travels.
@@MeganKaptein BLT on homemade sourdough from Ida's bakery next door is to die for and is like $6 the coffee truly is wonderful I will sometimes ride / drive 35 kms just for a coffee . Do try it next time you roll thru :)
Wow! Those views were almost as Beautiful as you are Megan. Thanks for sharing your journey. I would love to venture up to Canada and make that incredible ride too.
Welcome to the Kootenays! Been living in and riding here for years! These roads are,, well until now are secerts! Looking forward to seeing what you have to say about my favorites? Fred
