"aggressively priced" at 1.25 million... nah, this boat ain't worth that much, maybe 800-900k at most. Competitive pricing is insane when all of your comparison points are already out of touch with reality.
@vorjay
@vorjay 10 месяцев назад
what do you mean its only worth 800-900k. have you seen the price of center consoles of similar size? this isn't 1993. where do you get a 14m aluminum hydrofoil outboard catamaran with flybridge for under $1 mil? a Worldcat 400DC-x is similarly priced.
@nickwinn
@nickwinn 10 месяцев назад
@@vorjay My comparison comes from designing and building boats for the last 6 years. This boat has around 240-300k in materials (varies based on grade, source, and bulk discount purchases). The rule of thumb in boat manufacturing is labor should never cost more than the materials. That leaves around 200-300k in profit for the manufacturer per unit, the rest of the markup is dead weight.
@nickwinn
@nickwinn 10 месяцев назад
@@vorjay Worldcat has been sniffing glue for sometime. Their prices are that high because people are willing to pay that much for something that costs around half to manufacture. Then slap on another layer of brain rot from the dead weight dealers. I'm all for making money at something if you're good at it. Nothing in life is free, but there's a line that separates fair profit from greedy profit. Worldcat and many other manufacturers have crossed over from fair to greedy years ago.
@vorjay
@vorjay 10 месяцев назад
@@nickwinn the Yamaha 425 XTO's are $45K each. that's $90k right there. It's aluminum, so they aren't made from molds which jacks the price up, the RD for such a low production custom catamaran was probably high, it's produced in the Netherlands which means high labor costs. show me a 14m production power catamaran under $1 million never mind a semi-custom aluminum catamaran. very simple. a Freeman, Worldcat, Invincible, Aquila? Show me one under $1 million new. clown.
@nickwinn
@nickwinn 10 месяцев назад
@@vorjay First off, stop with the personal attacks. Starting from the top, the 45k per motor is the msrp price, not the actual price manufacturers pay (if equipped by manufacturer, sometimes dealers add the motors separately). The total price for the power plants would be more around 60-65k (could be lower based on volume) for a manufacturer, less than that for a dealer. Aluminum is easier to work with than composite molds as it doesn't take as much time to process and benefits from more automation possibilities. The place where these are built is also home to other boat manufacturer brands, so I suspect they're outfitted for more automation. The aluminum part is harder to figure out, but I believe they're using solid 64x12 pieces (3" 5052 grade) which gives them a few extra feet that'll end up as scrap or repurposed fittings. I'm guessing 6144 sqft of aluminum is enough to produce both hulls, internal structures, caps and decks. I don't have a source for bulk aluminum pricing, retail pricing for this would be under 64k and maybe 2k-5k for shipping. We are at 134k in materials for the bare hull and power plants (retail pricing for the aluminum, it would be much cheaper in reality for a manufacturer). How much do you think they spend on the rest? R&D isn't that much if you build off an established design, which could include meshing multiple designs together to fit a market that doesn't exist yet. Many of these designs are not original these days, it's all interpretations or copying with minor modifications. I'm not going to spend my time trying to find a cheaper vessel for you. The lack of cheaper boats doesn't prove the total price to build a boat, only what the market believes they can sell them for, which right now is crackhead prices. This market is ripe for someone to come along and offer a similar product for a lower rate and scaling it to mass production.

Hy Alfred could you have picked a calmer day to take that big boat out that inlet? I could have steered my 12 foot jon boat out that inlet the same day without any intrepidation. I need to send you the TUTU that I bought for a FLA collegiate football team since you be behaving that way for drama.

Nice boat, too bad we can't have real walk thru of boat. You need to stop screaming all the time and start doing more professional videos, people watching this don't care about guys on board, show us the boat and stop screaming WOOOOW on every little thing, you need 2 min for one sentence becouse you repeat words couple of time becouse in most cases you are talking over somebody. Sorry that I have to say all that, buy you really need to look at Aquaholic, very calm and professional
