9:38 The Arians were Christians who followed the teachings of the theologian Arius. It's pronounced the same as "Aryan", but that's just a coincidence.
Lugotorix Arianism was very popular among the german tribes, Vandals even continued to follow it after it had been considered as a heresy by all the other christians. Btw, arian gothic bishop Wulfila was the first to create its own alphabet for a germanic language and translated the bible.
@@Daniel_Brackley Arianism actually was popular throughout the Roman Empire (Arius himself having spend all his life in North Africa) and several emperors are thought to have been Arians. There's even some evidence that Constantine himself professed himself to be an Arian on his death bed, though that remains highly controversial.
There is also a trick that works for each of the following factions: If you kill all the family members of the Burgundii, Lombardii, Sarmatians, Roxolani, Goths, Ostrogoths and Franks BEFORE you take their settlements, then they become rebel. Now, if you siege their capital, just snipe all their generals, then withdraw fom the battle and come again next turn. You may have lost a battle, but you have won a whole war. Hell, maybe even three wars.
Hi Lugo I glad you talk about Barbarian Invasion again. Actually I finally complete a campaign with the Huns following the LegendofTotalWar one. Well he literally make the whole world rebel when I do the contrary. But seriously the huns economy and public orden are atrocius, so better kill and sack a lot of city and cripple any other faction that can be true danger to you before settle or you will regret. "The world is yours." (I wish) You have a good tastes in movies too.
Baetica --- "BEE- te-cah". And now I've returned a favor; I had pronounced Lugotorix as "Loo-GO-tor-rex" instead of "Loo-go-TOR-rex". Good series and I love the game and RTW as well.
You could also go down the historical route and gun for Córdoba. Córdoba is also a large city with a port, but with the benefit of being on the fringes of the Western Roman Empire.
That's usually what I do. Good solidly built-up area (by the time you get there anyway), lots of ports and defensible -- not to mention all of the merry pillaging done along the way. I usually try to take all four provinces in Spain all at once; hard, but doable. Then spread out to the islands, corner Africa, march up Italy and so on. The Vandals are also capable of building second level ships, something the Huns are incapable of.
Thing that really erks me about this game is that the Goths and Vandals are depicted in character portraits, and unit rosters are Asiatic Steppe warriros. They were not! Vandals and Goths were Germanic peoples, little different from say, the Franks or the Lombard factions. Its bizarre they are depicted, essentially as Mongolian. Why?!
This people made a total mess back in the day in the Western Roman Empire, basically destroying it cause they took Carthage, the second largest and richest city in the West, hampering wheat shippings towards Rome and tax collecting, which basically doomed the Empire. Oh, did I also mention they sacked Rome very badly, way badlier than the Goths? They even tried to unhinge the Pantheon's bronze gate, you can see the marks they made on it back in the day even now. They really were, basically, Germanic Huns. And they also gave name to Andalusia, which once was Vandalusia
I'm more a fan of the classics tbh so I have never played Rome 2 and therefore don't know enough to make faction guides, maybe in the future but tbh i think its a bit unlikely
I didn't particularly enjoy this faction's campaign. I find horde factions rather boring, and the Vandal horde is composed of a large number of peasants which manage to be even less useful than most horde units. Most Vandal units are available to either the Goths or the Huns as well, so there isn't much that makes the unit roster unique. Because you need to relocate from the Baltic to Spain and North Africa, a huge percentage of game play is just moving armies on the campaign map.
