I agree. I think you could even put Lonzo at shooting guard. But he could still lead and push the offense in transition . Garland can be the scoring guard in the half court. Idk if it will work but I think it’s worth a shot
He hit 44% from 3....... Sexton already hitting 40% from 3. I dont care who we draft as long as they are hitting at least 35% from 3. That's all that matters in nba.

This guy is just your average NBA point guard. He's not elite. A lot of his shot choices (trying to body a guy while doing a layup but not elevating high) is going to get swatted so many times in the NBA. Most draft talent in the NBA fail. Look at past years. You'll be lucky if in the first round if 3 guys end up being all-star caliber players in their careers. Forget about the 2nd round in the draft. The odds are even worse. I'd rather have Lonzo and I'm not a big fan of Lonzo. At least Lonzo is an elite passer and that will always have a place on a team.
@@Johnny-xj5qu He'll just be an average guy in the league. Nothing special. Markelle Fultz was a higher prospect coming out of college and I didn't agree with that assessment. People were saying: "He's going to be the next big thing in the NBA". I highly disagreed. I just didn't see it. You have to understand, I know the game of basketball VERY well. I know special talent when I see it because I've played against very good talent.
Jim Brown You can’t outline the entire career of a player just from the initial look of them, regardless of your experience in the sport or not. Garland was ranked the #1 point guard at the beginning of the season and only dropped in ranking because he got injured. There’s a reason why he’s going top 5 even though he’s only played 5 games
Man I heard the bulls are interested, If you feel like hes a franchise changing PG then give the pels what they want to move up which would be our number 7 pick and first rounder next year. I think this kid is the real deal
I think he is gonna be drafted by the Knicks, but I could be wrong. I just saw a report today that he is being considered to be drafted with the 3rd pick.
@@marcfelix6720 That's weird. If he were the second coming of Curry you'd definitely take him. I don't think playing 5 games is more reason to pass on him. He was injured. It shows why you aren't a GM.
@@ikon1403 - 3 garbage teams and the 8th best team in the PAC 12 with zero wins over ranked opponents along with three 3+ losing streaks last season. Better? And with that being the cream of the crop--Garland had 6 TO's vs 1 assist in that "win".

@@isaacsekitoleko6190 - no no, it's relative--they put up his stats at the end and that's misleading... The 16.2 PPG 3.8 RPG and 2.6 APG would be much more meaningful had he done that through conference play. This is no fault of his own but it's the simple truth. To your question--IDK... does he really move the ball? I only have the four games to go by (I don't follow any of them in HS since it's such a different game and AAU circuit isn't about defense) so I see a guy that struggled with his TO while not getting any assists and this was against inferior competition. His outside jumper looks great with very nice range that should translate to the NBA easily... the biggest question is his knee and how injury prone he is--missing his college season is a red flag--his tape is pretty much based entirely off his HS career which begs the question to be, "which college player would you take over this HS kid?"... to that, it depends on the situation and also, I don't get caught up in the exact position especially since this wasn't a PG deep draft--rather the better player(FA and trades can help fill the gaps). If a team needs somebody to be solid from day one (Lakers or Celtics for example), then I'd prefer Hunter or Culver over him. If a team needs the franchise to be turned around the NBA's next big star and are willing to spend the time letting them grow and develop, then he and Cam fit that bill--if it works, then great and if not, then they're hopefully back at the top of the draft the following year. To me, he's a high risk high reward guy--this is why he's a good pick for Cleveland--let him and Sexton can battle it out and, if they are both successful they can move one for another piece or keep both--choices. I hope the best for him--I never pull for any of these kids trying to live out their dreams to be busts--I'm a Duke fan and I'm happy for the other Cam (Johnson) and felt bad to see Nassir fall... I simply look at Garland is giving all analyst, from professional scouts to us amateurs on-line, the least amount of information to go by--especially how they respond in different situations throughout the rigors of conference and tournament play. The mental makeup of this players is often a bigger deal than their skill sets which is why D. Williams (AZ) is not in the NBA anymore and Butler is thriving despite the former being the far superior athlete, having far superior shooting numbers (esp three ball) and was taken #2 when the perennial all star was taken 30th. So he can have a great all around game just as Joel Berry did--not an NBA heavyweight--or he could be right out of the mold of Damian Lilard but we never see it because his injuries rob him of his physical gifts. We don't know. And that's the crux of my point about "season highlights" followed by stats when he only played 4 games against cupcakes and a very underwhelming USC. It's not hate, it's simply a matter of perspective since this is draft season. BTW, it took much more energy to give the long version of what we all should've already understood--great HS talent and we know very little else.

Games (albeit cupcakes), but who was ja playing MAJORITY of the year (not the NCAA trney, or few big program games) so the 'cupcake' argument goes both way...sure he was injured & small but Morant is just as small (sans the injury), and as great as Morant is (I see a 2 to 3x all star) his jumpshot is still a mildly worrying issue that's not a lock to be consistent so we'll see how he takes that up🤷
