Thanks, we still need to install coving, picture rail and decorate. Once we got the fire installed I moved onto the loft conversion and moving the bathroom but will hopefully get around to decorating mid 2022

Most of the power tools I use are from screwfix It’s the “Titan” brand

Hi I’m just a DIY’er but we removed the plaster and checked for a lintel or arch, once we found the lintel we knew it was safe to open up the original opening, we used acro props during the process for safety. If in any doubt I’d get a professional to check it out first

It’s just a standard acro prop they come in various lengths so we just got a short one for the job. We only opened it up to the height of the original arch opening so we never really had any rust of it coming down this was just as a precaution till we checked the original arch was ok
