I also do like a vibrato motion on the key even though it has no effect.

It might well have affected the sound actually: Vangelis often used Yamaha CS-80 synthesizers, which had polyphonic aftertouch (i.e. each key is pressure-sensitive, once it's all the way down). He's probably pressing down on the keys in a wobbly way. So while the horizontal movement will have had no effect, the vertical movement would, on this synthesizer.

That's Vangelis' Custom system that was designed and manufactured for him 1993 and used it ever since

I want to say it’s a Roland JV80 on the top by the looks of it. Keep in mind, he’s using is almost strictly as a controller. All of those little white boxes are hooked up to racks (Roland JV1080 was his favorite) and effect modules. He is using a Korg T1 as the main 88 key controller on bottom, as it was his all time favorite controller, and used it from early 1990 until he passed away.
