Vanguard is BRICKING PCs 

I'm not sure what the worst is about this update. Vanguard or the fact that the subreddit mods are systematically censoring any criticism about it. I really hope people eventually notice and take their conversation elsewhere. In other breaking news, the update literally says that there's a new feature where reporting players now has a chance of triggering a punishment 😂leave it to riot to revolutionize behavioral systems. Oh and one last thing while I hate it when riot talks their usual bullshit, the "people can just mute that person"-argument is indeed not exactly all that strong. Firstly if you have to mute someone, you were already affected negatively, muting a person doesn't prevent or undo that. Secondly the issue of toxic players was already ignored for so long that we're already culturally conditioned to not even want to talk in chat anymore because it subconsciously makes us think we're just making ourselves a target for harassment with no benefit. The truth is that gaming companies in general ignored the problem for too long, being way too lenient on disruptive players and only if the right measures are taken and only over many years do we even have the chance to make playing online games a pleasant social experience again. I know it sounds crazy for anyone who hasn't experienced it in person, but before ~2010 most online games, even competitive team based ones actually had very pleasant communities and only very rarely people would use chat to spread hate and negativity. That was due to a combination of disruptive players simply getting banned from the best servers and people in general hadn't been trained for 5+ years to expect the very worst out of every random online encounter. I'm still hopeful we might be able to get back to what it was like back then during my lifetime, but right now it doesn't look all that promising.

The League of Legends Subreddit is the biggest Clownshow even before Riot Games themselfs. I once posted an Issue I've had for multiple games and received... A Suiclde Prevention Hotline and the Delete of my Post. Cool Mods

I hate that Riot said that if you're not playing League you don't have to run Vanguard. Turning it off stops it running /until you restart your pc/ even though Riot said you could easily just exit it and restart it when you want to play. I don't like that I have to completely restart my PC every time I want to play a match or two, it feels invasive that it's forcing me to fully restart for something that shouldn't be this controlling of my actions :/

Hey everyone, just wanted to share my experience dealing with Riot Games' Vanguard anti-cheat system and the censorship I faced on their subreddit. I raised concerns about Vanguard's continuous background operation and possible privacy implications, only to find my post deleted and myself banned from the subreddit. It's disheartening when genuine concerns are silenced like this. Anyone else encountered similar issues?

My BIOS time went from 17 seconds to 59 seconds according to Task Manager after the restart I had to do once Vanguard installed yesterday. When my PC FINALLY booted up, I was met with Vanguard saying that it stopped an audio driver from loading on boot. This audio driver is due to my motherboard being ASUS. I googled this, and this was reported multiple times 2 YEARS AGO! I could get banned from a video game because of an AUDIO DRIVER! I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but Vanguard is incredibly suspect. I do not trust it at all after my literal initial experience. I immediately uninstalled Vanguard, League, and Riot Client. About time, too. I have been playing League since Season 1. I'm thinking about selling my account for a couple grand, as I highly doubt Riot will ever backtrack Vanguard, nor do I have any faith in them to sort it out. No video game has the right to this level of access on my own machine. To Riot and anyone who thinks this is fine: get a grip!

I love how people are not even allowed to talk about their issues on Reddit. The mods are gonna delete it as "its not allowed to post tech support threads".. its not tech support its letting others know you will literally brick up your pc potentionaly. I uninstalled due to my own reasons before V was mandatory, but I sincerely hope this will get investogated by any goverment and potentionaly fine them to hell.

When Vanguard went live, I wanted to play a normal game. I got kicked out in Champ Select with an error 'Unidentfied Vanguard Error 0' or sth like this. And I got a leaver buster wooow, imagine if this happens in a ranked game....

I have got issue with Vanguard too, cooling in laptop suddenly got crazy so I've panicked and turned off my laptop. Now it no longer turns on. I've brought laptop to computer service so I'll update what happened once they find out.

Vanguard apparently gets access to certain features on your PC After the update i can no longer play League, it tells me to activate TPM on BIOS, which is super dangerous to mess with your BIOS, so now i have to call my tech guy to activate stuff on my PC which i did the next day, he almost freaked out on me, he told me if i knew what Kernel Access was, i said NOPE, he told me im giving access to Vanguard to monitor my screen, even your copy/paste, it also takes screenshots of your activities , he also told me my IP was probably exposed, so if a hacker does hacks Vanguard a lot of us are gonna be in serious trouble. Vanguard also made my PC super slow, i have a RTX 3060 and my CPU skyrocketed, so the tech guy said he won´t be activating TPM, as it may brick my PC, so he uninstalled Vanguard and recover from last Windows Update, then my PC was running smooth again. BE CAREFUL if you still playing league, Riot may mess up your PC, its been a fun 7 years, but i guess this is where i stop. Good luck to all of you still playing.

If you can't open league because you use admin don't use admin on league and tick the full control in security tab of the league client launcher in the installed folder right click properties

Vanguard eats up 10% cpu on my laptop.. its not even a weak laptop, a thin-and-light for sure, but don't take up 10% CPU on an i7-1065G7 AS A FUCKING BACKGROUND TASK THATS ALWAYS RUNNING

at 5:23 at the reddit post, the people talking about closing vanguard to launch the game is real. Accidently discovered this but if you open league through the riot client and it fails to open when pressing play, while keeping the riot client open after failing, closing vanguard and pressing play opens league...... without vanguard...... because 200 years. Discovered this yesterday by accident and can confirm.

I think I will hold off on updating League for a little while.

They should bring back the ability to get old borders for certain skin lines like in the current Emperean. The only borders you can buy with tokens are the newest skins so Riot seems to be fully embracing FOMO tactics. Disgusting!

With the rollout of Vanguard, I had to properly say goodbye to league GeForce won't be able to run it anymore, and my laptop is old asf and I was only able to run it through that (it's probably for the best)

when valorant dropped i installed vanguard on my laptop in all games i played i had lower fps and my laptop slowed down by alot fixed it by never play valorant again

Idk, I was already sceptical about Vanguard and didn't update my game, but with all the issues people are reporting now, I don't think I will be playing League anymore. Maybe I'll get an old Laptop or something to install League with Vanguard on, but I will definitely not be installing that on my main System. I really hope this dumb anti cheat wont be the end of my now almost 12 year long League carreer.

Just take a break. If they lose enough players because people refuse to install vanguard then they'll probably take it out but if you comply then vanguard is the future.

My friend demoted as the result of an afk and his reward was the autofill protection. Hes a support main, hasnt been autofilled in about 100 games and thought it was an absolute joke. Honestly, i dont blame him, its ranked just give him his lp consolation thats all we care about in ranked, not some autofill protection hes never gonna use.

So for the Behavioral Systems portion, is nobody else talking about how Riot is casually speaking on the fact that *mass reporting without reasonable cause is resulting in frivolous bans?* Here's the thing, I wouldn't be so pressed about this matter had it not been for my history long before this patch in regards with people simply not liking me. Not because I fervently troll, which I don't do but rather because either I dominated the game I was in too hard for my own team's/enemy team's mental to handle or I did not give in enough to my teammate's flaming. Sometimes I'm reported just because I had a bad game or for the hell of it; there's always going to be that group of players who serial reports 'just cause.' I also have it on good authority that Riot support does not possess certain logs/event timelines to corroborate these so-called justified bans and that they'd instead try to make up or even go as far as to gaslight you as the player into believing you did something ban-worthy. This is all just a shield to mask the fact they themselves to not know why the bot decided to bring the hammer down on you, but to admit fault in their bot is to admit failure in their design; something Riot is all too proud of. Which brings me back around to why this should worry players like myself. Players who are pretty high in account levels, champions masteries, skin counts etc etc etc. Given the average mentalities the game suffers from, that being things like ff mentailty, run-it-down behavior and soft-inting, who's really to say that these same players won't openly abuse this "new" system just as Riot themselves openly state how it can be used? I'm willing to bet the reason nobody seems to be talking about this change is because of the fact most of LoL's population consists of users who'd rather ditch smurf after smurf never attaining higher than account level 50 all in the name of 'efficiency.' Not as big a loss for those types as it is for the increasing minority that is players who only stick with one account. tl;dr Riot effectively turned the behavioral bot systems into something resembling Canadian self defense law, that being the criminals who are actually ruining your games will have more rights than legit honor-bound players. All the power belongs to them and nothing is stopping them from even going as far as to sending multiple manual reports from different accounts through to Riot support if it means a guaranteed action against you for whatever reason. (I've met too many players with this type of agenda.)

league is one of the very few games in the last century that has successfully managed to brick other people's pc, that's quite an accomplishment

My PC hardware isn’t compatible with Vanguard because of the TPM 2.0 requirement and I’m using an old motherboard and can’t afford a whole new upgrade. Guess I just can’t play league again

There was a league error message for a long time that prevented me from playing the game with no clear methods of fixing the issue or efforts to address it. I'm not surprised theres a lack of information on how to fix Vanguard-related issues. Most discussion is people just saying "It just works" while immensely downplaying people who are having issues. Fans need to realize, that people bring up issues, cause people care and want them fixed, its not an attack.

If you have MSI Afterburner running, it causes your game to stutter everytime you input (press/hold a key on ur keyboard or click with ur mouse). Close it before you go into a game. This only started happening after Vanguard was installed on my pc.

I am so glad I decided to uninstall and wait to see if vanguard caused issues I really didn't want to risk something like this happening. As much as I want to play some league right about now I'm giving it a solid month or two off to see if anything gets better. Before the update I kept hearing far too many complaints about vanguard so I just erred on side of caution and stepped into observer mode so I could just see if any shit hit the fan. If it didn't I would have been playing league right now but seeing those tweets actually has me scared for my pc

This is why you don't instantly update to install a new program like vanguard into your system and instead let other people go first so you can see the possible problems that can occur and wait for a stable version.

I updated the game anyway but, fr i was waiting for this video to come out. I knew vanguard would cause issues, i also saw my pc doing weird stuff sincce i installed vanguard. Like i had my gpu at 30% usage with nothing really running on my pc. I don't trust riot to not sell our data to tencent, i don't trust riot at all anyway. Time for my 1234564453397654323492nd league break of the year. Until vanguard is either somehow safe/useful or so poorly turned that nobody plays league anymore.

5:25 This happened to me, I think because League is on another drive. Taskbar and the Windows Start Menu don't work. Luckily I also have a shortcut on my desktop, so I clicked that and it launched. For some reason launching League directly from the files doesn't even work lol

I don't think they took a capsule out of the pass, since the pass doesn't have a capsule event it would be weird if it was there, but they shuold've added another bag to compensate

Issue is, its not safe to give Riot Games the access of your System's Bios through Vanguard, especially when Riot Games is completely owned by Tencent, China, means by CCP. Seems like it's the end of League of Legends. It's been good 10 years of league. But i will miss Aram a lot. But can't risk my system especially when my entire Designing and editing work is done on it.

2:28 ARAM is a casual game and not competitive. Doing this only makes it like Arena 1.0 when first release, everyone is looking for the best combos, and thats not the point of the mode. Unless you guys are competitive in ARAM you should just ask for rank version of the mode

I have the same "windows cannot access the specified device, path or file" thing when I tried to open league as well. However I was able to launch the riot client just fine and league was able to be launched from there.

Why is Vanguard on even before I open League?

Waiting to do the update for a bit just in case. Looking forward to playing again in the future but I'm not a techie so I'd rather wait than risk bricking on Vanguard release. I'll be paying attention to updates or not for the Vanguard system

Error 0 - can't log in (update, restart didn't fix it, but alt + ctrl + delete close the riot exe and start it again. Had to do it 3 times but it finally worked

Adding vanguard to play league is the dumbest thing ever.

The main issue with vanguard is that any software that runs at kernel level that is not from the operating system itself is a potential vulnerability in the system that someone might find a way to exploit, multiple things can go wrong, a rogue developer inside riot can intentionally add a vulnerability, someone outside riot can find a vulnerability... at this point that kernel software can be used to do things that it was not designed for, and people haven't yet learn the lesson with other kernel anti-cheats, like it's not the first time we had news about a kernel anti-cheat being used to mine bitcoins, or someone using a vulnerability to shut down your anti-virus and insert their malware into those computers... And I think that a company that suffers major leaks of information like riot in any way or form shouldn't even be considered to have kernel access. All this security issues just for the sake of ensuring fair play is not a compromise we should be doing.... by the end of the day those kinds of software only cares about game integrity and do not care if your computer is hacked or compromised... Game developers need to stop being lazy and fix the game vulnerabilities server side. Specially with a game that should run mostly on server side like a moba.

They should just take all the balance buffs out of aram. They do not solve the problem, they just pick the winners based on which champion won the lottery for that patch. Anyone remember darius with +50% healing buffs? Yeah he was auto win as fuck. That buff sure as fuck made the problem WORSE.

Though I do not mind, that we have to own all Icons in order to get OE. I do think 3 icons for 1 is a lot. With how many icons there are and how few drops we're getting nowadays. Just 50 icons is 150 icons drops. Considering I've got around 90 Drops total this year since January. I don't think I'm ever going to get OE from an Icon ever again with how many Icons there are in the store. I hope we can at least convince RIOT, 1 duplicate Icon for 1 random Icon.

For the "bug" that doesn't find the application, it's because the shortcut is dead, you need to create a new one from the .exe file AFTER you've restarted your computer ofc

I will look up LoL Vanguard every so often just for validation of me uninstalling LoL for the Vanguard update, I was really only playing Arams to kill time for the last few seasons anyways so I don't feel like Im losing much.

I watched the whole broadcast yesterday and did not get any drops. Not for the baron steal that happened nor the guaranteed Graves emote. I was logged in and opted for rewards. My bf didn't get any drops either. :(

can someone confirm that aram rerolls are not random and that the pool got champions that get prioritize over others when rolling

To 5:30 it happened to me aswell yet was located in the Appdata roaming folder (since i had the shortcut on windows bar). If you follow the path, delete it out of roaming and set a new shortcut it should be gone.

5:23 Matty i managed to fix this one by opening the game using another 'L' startaup icon, I had mine on the task bar and i always used it and every time I got this ⬆message to appear but when i used the icon from the desktop it worked just fine, then i tried to use the task bar one again and it didin't work AGAIN, had to remove it and then reattached it again to make it work, i hope that helps.

For the can't open league one, you have to launch the game from riot launcher and not the shortcut.

i had the same problem with windows not being able to access the specified device, path or file but i couldnt care less about fixing it so i just uninstalled riot client and league and reinstalled them. that fixed everything(unfortunately for my mental health)

I dont get why they dont just make the league lp system like valorants. Depending on ur team contribution/carry level u get more or less LP gains/losses ie if u fed inted early you would get +5-10 LP or - 30 LP if u carried or contributed well u would get +20-40 or -5- -10

should i get the prestige kayle skin or use it all for capsules?

They can just replace that useless Ethernal Capsules with an event Capsule, and everybody will be happy, is not that hard Riot...

Many players have stopped playing the game because of Vanguard, I wonder what the playerbase of this month May will be, Many people still play so it'll probably won't hurt them but still....

My question is I have never get an panelty for bad behavior or thamthing els but I'm still honor level 2 on 2 acc and honor level 3 on my main. They dond switch the honor system to the new 3 seson thing in 1 jear. Did I get viktorius skin then with honor level 2? I mean I don't do anything wrong and don't get an penelty in over 5 jears
