Few women could match her beauty especially in the 80's but after she turned her back on showbiz she showed her true inner beauty - what a beautiful kind soul! She will be missed greatly, we can take comfort that she completely changed her life around and lived more than 20 years past the time the Doctors told her she had little chance & that she is no longer suffering physically, she dedicated her life to God. Her testimony is a powerful one! R.I.P. Denise Matthews.
Them dance moves and facials mixed with her beauty produced some pretty weird nostalgia for me as a child and even now today. RIP Denise. never forget this.
I used to see Prince and Vanity at a club on Sunset back in the early 80's....called El Privado (SP?) they always sat in VIP.....Prince would NEVER DANCE.....Vanity would at times, come on Dance Floor, surrounded by his Security.....and Dance for him.....GOD.....she was BEAUTIFUL......!!!!!!
Just watched this movie again last night. I have a total girl-crush on Denise. She was just flawless. My eyes are glued to her whenever she's on screen, whatever she's in.
This movie was a staple in our house! My mom loved it. I haven't watched it since she passed. My big brother, who I nicknamed Bruce LeRoy (since he taught karate), passed away recently and he loved this movie, too! I need to find that DVD!

I was captivated by the performance of Vanity and the 7th Heaven Dancers in this video clip. I see that there is some questioning of Vanity's singing ability in some quarters. I personally think comparing Vanity to other singers like Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey is like comparing apples and oranges. I think you take Vanity for what she was - an enticing and charismatic entertainer. Also a couple of the dancers were really burning the dance floor. I didn't really fixate on the song and dance when I saw the movie as a kid, but looking back I appreciate this more.

For any minority kid who grew up in the 80s like me, this movie was GROUNDBREAKING for us! It was so great to see a movie with mostly black, brown and yellow faces. Just watched it again the other day. Cult classic.
Say what you will about Vanity but she nailed everything she did. Even b-grade crap like this she made it work. Under rated and talented beyond. Rip truly a mind blowing woman
I'm thinking (hoping) he meant the song is b-grade crap, not the movie. I love a lot of her music; but this song, although definitely catchy, honestly isn't very good.
I'll be watching the Last Dragon this weekend. Vanity you will be missed and even though I may not be religious I hope heaven is real because you are an angel.
@@milanaaaaaaaa what the hell does that mean?...lol! All I'm saying is that it's a B-flick.... And don't get me wrong, it's fun and I grew up liking it quite a bit... It's very nostalgic. But I wouldn't put it off as anything within reach of my favorites.
I was surprized to find out her life was a hell at that time, she became a heavy drug addict later on, lost her kindneys and now is an evangelist. Praise God.
Denise!!! God used her til the VERY END. Prince died shortly after. Many regrets and moons later. They are together in the end. He tried to fight it, but some things you can't compartmentalize. #day1fanofboth💜💜🙏🏾🕊🕊
