Seem like a really neat couple truly at peace with their choice in being out on the road with nature!!! Cosmo is such a cutie~Love how he quickly went over to "Referee" the canine quarrel, lol:) Very nice van build-out and didn't see an inside bathroom? Guess I always thought Sprinters had those... Beats the landlord money anyday~My Daughter and her family are paying $2,500/month in RENT for a 2 bdrm apt in Orange County, Cali, but she does not even like "Road-Tripping" so will not push that issue... That is where the true freedom lies; each of us making that decision best for our lives and lifestyle!!!

another great video. man I want to go back to van life. I did it from 17 to 28 lived in vans trucks a bus some campers. the traveling meeting new people working different places. but got married living in a camper to having baby and getting a house and going home to take over family business after I got hurt bad for the 3 or 4 this time building homes. then losing everything due to 9-11 lost business home and all. not only from 9-11 but got hurt again after a knee surgery. I just become a single parent when my daughter was 7 months old. we lost it all when she was 7 years old. we moved and lived in a pontoon boat a bus to a camper within the first year of well being homeless. till up to 3 years ago lived in campers to a trailer. now finally a house my babies 15 now. but I miss the road camping. we love to fish if I could home school and travel I would. but being disabled I have a Dr I have to see 1 time a month don't no if I could travel. but I told my daughter I'm tired of rent stuck in one place and in bed most days. when shes out of school don't leave home im leaving. told her when she thinks she's able to live on her own let me no. I'm gonna pack my fishing stuff clothes some tools. and take my boat and pull trailer or just boat the pontoon will hold my stuff I fish with. my van or truck will hold my extra fishing stuff for my kids non prophet fishing group. I give lots of stuff away to special kids when I get donations or luck up and find cheap stuff I can afford which I'm selling all my stuff to buy fishing stuff to give away. but I'll load what I want and she can sell keep give away what ever I leave at home. but I want to go back to living in my ride on the water fishing every day that I posibity can. but told her the day she can't pay bills or she's in trouble call me I'll come home take over the bills again and help her. I mean she's my baby I'll take care of her till god calls me home cause I no with my health and body falling apart she's gonna have to take care of me one day. but sorry I wrote so much I love these videos watch them daily. god bless everyone. and sorry about the spelling or wording I'm no good at writing. but will talk your ear off. lol. god bless.

I'd like to know more about the van. What kind of van, how long is it, etc. So glad that they have adapted to it so quickly. Where do they take showers other than the shower at the end of the van. They indicated down the hill but where - a gym or spa, or laundry facility? It is unfortunate that so many people can no long afford or justify the rents that are ski-rocketing. Good for them. I will keep them in my prayers, may they save money and perhaps one day buy some land, put a cabin or van on it.. etc. Best wishes. BTW, the van looks well designed on the inside... you did it yourself which no doubt contributes to your happiness. Best wishes!

It would be awesome to own a van of that caliber, but I have to believe that this couple either has monthly payments or have already taken the steps to own it outright. Brain's rig is closer in line to realistic ventures into the freedom for most people choosing this life. I'm a large fellow. 6'9" and 450lbs. I resemble Big Show in stature. A van like this would be very agreeable. But the reality I face is similar to what most face that want to change streams. We have to use what we can access. I own a pickup. I've considered buying a 6x12 enclosed trailer. This would give me elbow room inside snd leave my truck bed with the cap on it for overflow storage. I've since changed my mind over and over. The point is to do with less to experience more. So one of my thought trains is to build my own fold up camper much like Rik has done. But, until I figure this out...I'm not going anywhere I guess.

+Wagon Burner I feel like I will eventually end up with a trailer. Works out good got a lot of people.
@TinManisbugginout
@TinManisbugginout 8 лет назад
***** I have a shell already. The rig is nearly set up for hitting the road full time. That's why I was initially thinking about a little trailer. But after watching and reading many of the comments and videos, the realization that a trailer could handicap me in areas that not having one wouldn't makes me reconsider. Look back at one of Brian's posts where he shot off down a level B (these are the rarely maintained dirt roads) in his 2wd van and got stuck after turning around, having to get pulled out by that white ford farm truck. Right off, he wouldn't even have been able to turn around where he did with a trailer. Then he'd have been in an even worse position. And I actually like Brian's modus operandi of not following the group or common adventures. There's much good to be said for finding inner peace by being on your own at times. All of these points are major considerations for me. A trailer would allow me to drive away from the campsite for supplies, but I could just as easily approach that as Brian does; when it's time to resupply, it's time to relocate. I also don't want any more payments than absolutely necessary. So, I need to finish paying off some of my bigger bills. Then that recovered income can go towards building my new life and environment. If I could afford it, a tall sprinter or full size chevy 4x4 van would be the ticket. But for now my paid for 4x4 pickup will have to do. One of the points I want to hit is the Texas gulf coast. There are still beaches where you can boondocking AND fish for free. Blue crabbing too. Thanks for the interaction Wagon Burner.

Have you seen the videos of the cargo trailer that Russ over at RVerTV has built? It's very sweet, not too expensive and he shows a lot of the details as to his specific build out. Nice guy too! Check it out if you haven't already. It may give you some ideas.
@TinManisbugginout
@TinManisbugginout 8 лет назад
@Uncle Lar- I have. I've actually drawn up so many floor plans for using a 6x12 that I'm burned out on doing it. lol. There are plenty of reasons to go that route, but the confluct is in accessibility to places such as I referenced. Lots of things to consider and reconsider, yes?
@unclelar819
@unclelar819 8 лет назад
Absolutely. BTW - I was always worrying about not being able to find anything that fit my height. At 6'5" and 320 I am too big for most vehicles. BUT, you now make me feel like such a whiner. Good luck and follow that dream!

Great set up they have. I Love the look of it. Very cozy. What's the brand name of the ac unit they have? They said they bought it at a Lowe's or at Home Depot or maybe that is where they're available. My son and me are living with my folks right now and his room is attic space that my dad finished off into a very nice room but there is no ac or heat. There is no window just a triangle kind of vent. It was screened off and he put a clear plastic window pane for it to keep the cold or hot air out. I end up putting a blanket over it during the winter. I know some reflectix insulation would work better and plan to buy a roll for this winter. It is easy to heat the room. However it isnt so easy keeping it cool. If he leaves his door open and puts a fan facing in, he can draw ac in from the house but it isnt a good solution since it is using more electricity and Im sure, even if it's a small amount, we're losing that cold air from the rest of the rooms. :( It also takes away my sons privacy, which privacy is very important. My folks house is not set up for a family. Both downstairs and upstairs are very open. Not many doors at all. The rooms are all very open to each other. So privacy is an issue as well. I am considering van dwelling for myself. My son is grown now and is trying to find his feet. He will. He has tried many things and I am incouraging him to do so. I want him to be very happy with the job he ends up with. Once that is done I will find a van and move on with the next phase of my life. Sorry. Didnt mean to get so in depth.

Where were they living with rent that high? That's pretty steep! Luxury apartments with sauna's and tennis courts and full gyms rent for that here. A standard no frills one in a good neighborhood can be had for half of that. Anyways, glad to see that they're enjoying themselves and the van looks pretty nice.
