Got my 540 about a week ago and loving it so far. New to the hobby and enjoying it with my daughter. Purchased the propack so she is the designated pro pointer 👍. Looking forward to more vids with the 540!
Got my 540 a few weeks ago but I live in Alaska...hence...to frozen to hunt. I'm a total newbie and really looking forward to the hunt come spring. I enjoy these videos and am picking up a ton of tips...thanks.
I bought the 540 pro pack. Away from hunting for decades... I wanted new teck. I haven't had my Vanquish very long... now I've ordered the BigDog 800 Equinox. AND a aftermarket complete rod from Steve's ... he has a counterweight system you can get to help with weight transfer... I don't know that I need that... but I will have it. I've heard they are a little nose heavy with the stock coil. The Vanquish... I think it's awesome. People rave about the Simplex and the Apex... well... not me. Simplex is what it is... cheap... waterproof...will go deep... a good first - cheap detector. Chatty ... it wasn't for me. The Apex... well Garrett never impressed me. They came out with the AT Max... it didn't like the beach. Now the Apex... too much iron sound.. it overpowers the good stuff. Vanquish... perfect. The 800 ...more perfect. Good Video. I wish I had a real saltwater beach. Land locked in N. Texas... just a occasional swimming hole for me.
The Nox is a bit nose heavy, as many detectors are. I got a Detect-Ed carbon fiber shaft for mine and it definitely helps. In fact, with that shaft, the Nox is now lighter than either the Vanquish or the Simplex. You’re right about the Simplex being chatty. The Apex appears to be not so good. I was going to bring one in to review, not sure I’m going to bother now after seeing Calabash Diggers videos on that one. Thanks for watching. Cheers.
What settings you use on the beach with the vanquish 540 ? I just bought my first machine same as you having no joy as a newbie im digging all junk dont know if its me or this is a crap detector
