Top notch video. The fact that you got the badge on both the box and the sticker sheet is nothing but proper appreciation of the work you do Matt, well deserved! You are down to earth and honest and tell it like it is and in many of our books from a viewer standpoint that simply is the best things about you. I wish more RU-vid creators would realize this... There is no need to be over the top all the time, its just tiring to see. Also, I think that Josh has more respect for you and your knowledge then most understand and that's also a reason to the badge on the box.. Well Done!!
I 100% agree that this has to be one of the coolest and most innovative releases for this year, and I hope it sets the tone for the year to come! Allowing a much broader audience to get into a Vanquish kit is genius, and that price point is even better than expected. I look forward to a straight axle kit!
I went Wednesday to my local hobby store and waited while they unloaded off the truck and was the first to get one and I intend on using all options available and am almost done building love it and can't get enough of the hobby love the videos you do and have a good day
Hey! Thought that Josh had covered everything about this new product; but, you still had more to add. Great job Matt. Ordered one; but, I (like you) will probably convert it to straight axles when they become available.
Great video. Never had a Vanquish truck, always wanted one. Getting the price down to a more 'reasonable' level will surely get more people buying them and then, at some point, upgrading to the more high-level parts. Love the body as well!
This is probably my favorite trail truck to have ever released. Your attention to detail never goes unnoticed! You do an excellent job of going over kits for someone who may be looking to decide which one they wanna spend their money on. Great job!
You're my favorite RC reviewer and video maker. I've never done a kit but you've inspired me and I think I'm going to try this one. I'm nervous and excited all at once. Kudos on the color too, looks fantastic.
You make this sound like an rc news channel... your basically an rc ⚓ man. It's very helpful even tho your selling their products which is good because the hobby shops doesn't carry all of these advertised products. Also nice song in the background
I agree with you, it's a smart move to get in at a lower price point and expand the Vanquish Customer base and get more Quality Vanquish product out on the rocks.
Holy dirt surfer, it's like the Swiss Army knife of RC Crawlers (less the tooth pick). Well done Matt for a great breakdown video and Vanquish for doing a great value kit.
We all know that in reality very very few drivers actually require aluminum housing. Yes, they look better yes, the added weight is nice but most people don't need them. This looks like an amazing kit. I will never buy one but just the same it looks very nice. Shiftable variable overdrive is badass.
Aluminium vs plastic. Not much of a weight difference. I would definitely stay with stock plastic. They look more than strong enough on this kit. Especially with the included brass tubes.
Great video, as usual. I really appreciated the end portion when you stopped commentary so we could really enjoy the sound of the truck. Killer paint job, as well, always high caliber from you, sir. By the way, the fallen tree trunk towards the end with the amazing texture was really cool, thank you for adding that few seconds of footage of it. Beautiful.
This is a damn impressive truck!! I also appreciate you have the option of using or not the dig and overdrive. You can build it in a simple way at the beginning and when you will add the servos for those features, it will be like putting some hop ups on it. Ladies and gentlemen at Vanquish, well done!
Great review of this ground breaking truck from Vanquish. You should see 'that other guy' thanking you and getting embarrassed about missing it by traveling, as he does. I liked your call for straight axles and I hope they take notice. I will wait until then. Thank you.
Hey, Matt make fun of our spelling issues... How dare you I thought Canadians where Know for being Nice... 35 years old & still not my strong point, lol... I was only Josefina you anyway... Absolutely insane 😍! Now I'm almost upset I ordered the scx6... in a couple months this Beautiful Quality Bread Pony will make its way in the stable soon...
Very nice detailed look at the new Vanquish Products product!! This new VS4-10 Phoenix looks great and I can’t wait to add one to my collection! Looking forward to the upcoming vids of this rig in the future.
I just ordered mine. Crap what did I do. I should of never watched this video. The SCX6 and now this?????? oh my gosh this is RC insanity. I'm going to run it with all 3 servos as it is intended to be. This just nuts. Great video as always.
I have always preferred Beef Tubes and a plastic axle. Easy to replace, slides better and way more affordable. This thing is sick. Love those shocks. I really dig that new transmission. I would use all the options including the winch servo. I am sure Josh is proud.
Loved the Crawling portion ! RC crawling sounds are my ASMR. repost just the crawl portion so I can add to my pure crawling (no music) playlist ! ha ha Thx Matt
Ok just got to the "will add a stand alone running video", without music ? or does that get too boring for people. Looking forward to more on this one !!
@@scalebuildersguild I actually like both, the correct music can really add a dramatic feel to the video, on the rare occasion I still make Compilation Videos with music, I make an effort to have some synchronization between the action and the music, using an element of the music to highlight a moment in the video. I noticed you have an talent for this also.
I still can't get over this truck. Truly an innovative rig. Axial hasn't proven much to me since the scx10-2 honcho. I feel they haven't been in the game as far as being innovative, for a while. Dont get me wrong, axial rigs are awesome, but they are going to have to do more than add jeep bodies and make them big enough to ride before I buy another Axial. Im just ready for more functionality. I want more realism. This Phoenix is awesome. Can't wait to see what the competition decides to do. I hope the transmitter companies are paying attention as well. We are going to need more than 6 channels if we are going to control theses digs, overdrives, winches ,lights, locking diffs, and.....oh yeah it has to move and steer too. Great video as always.
Yes!!! Finally a functioning transfer case with 2 and 4 wheel drive and wait....a locking dig as well, all controlled with the radio?!!! I can't believe it!!!. Nicely done Vanquish. Now offer some lockable diffs as an option and I'll be in Rc heaven. Im buying one right now........of course they are out of stock!!!
I really enjoy your videos, this thing is going to be incredible. My Vs4-10 Pro goes with me on every outing. I simply can't wait to get this kit. Your question, mine will be totally optioned out with a winch as well. Keep up the great work.
Tell Josh to give you commission on my order, lol. I had it ordered not even 5 minutes into your video. I saw that new transmission yesterday, then seeing this chassis was cheaper AND came with the new transmission?! SOLD! CAN'T WAIT!
As usual great video Matt! Spelling errors, they shouldn’t let Josh proofread! I think this is great. The best part is the selectable OD! I’m always torn between trailing and crawling. Not having to chose which rig to play with is a game changer! A rig that is both plus a dig? Awesome! Now I need a 6 channel radio! Because I’ll add a winch and lights! Thanks again For the video Matt! Looking forward to the build vids!
Loving this truck. Nice build too. That paint colour is great. Only Matt could wax lyrical about 3D printed intercoolers and a tube of grease and make it entertaining. How would I build this truck? I’d put in all the options to start. I’m not competing with it so don’t need to save weight.
I have had this truck a bit now....just now got out to run it through my local spot....all I can say is WOW....I laughed out loud several times as it would pull the krazest lines(for a trail truck)it's like the easy button on the side of a ledge with one line up...4.45 pb rockbeast brushed setup....nice truck... as you would say...
Love the the truck reminds me a lot of the Diahtsu F40 I had, that looked a lot like the Toyota FJ range, the colour choice is a lot nicer than Josh's Jaffa Orange scheme, so many innovations nice to see, my friends were putting money on how long before you ditch the portals for standard ones the tyre choice you have selected looked a little on the large side IMHO but I know they will work well if they do not foul the body too much, I was thinking why no upper cage then remembered Josh's theme keep the weight low down. Still a little to dear for me as by the time I have paid import duties and shipping to the UK Vanquish vehicles are too pricey a shame but no one imports them to the UK.
Please somebody explain to me why most if not all (with the exceptions of a very few) rc run videos are recorded with music? You cannot hear the motor / vehicle working, the tires getting a grip, etc. playing music is reducing our ability to get a better sense of the vehicle driven. YOU ARE ONE OF THE FEW WHO RESTRAINS PLAYING MUSIC DURING YOUR TEST RUNS, THANK YOU!! Also, like the channel, good work, keep going.
Awesome Rig I'm definitely getting one. Great review Thank you for the video it was very helpful. The transmission with selectable overdrive sold me immediately.
Great video Matt! Rig looks awesome man, the light kit sets it off just right! This kit will definitely be in my RC garage..running all mechanical options! ⚙️😎🤙💯
Wow, Vanquish really killed it with this kit. 2WD/4WD/Dig and selectable overdrive for $500?! Plus a cool modern looking FJ45 truck body with an interior and hidden body posts... this is so tempting. As always thanks for the great video!
Next manual you should proof read, before Vanquish prints them, plus make the build go even smoother as you'd have went over it thoroughly. Great review, what a top end truck!
Oh yeah full options all day long and i'm SOOOO Excited about an option for RWD only. For some of that scale 'to the trail' head stuff I think that's going to be very fun! Got a few things for sale and if they sell I'll be on that pre-order list!
I think this is a great truck. A great honest review that highlights everything about it. Even the bits you don't personally like are not really deal breakers and are more of a personal choice than anything.
Great truck! I always option out my rigs and this one with its incredible innovations will be no different. Bravo on the amazing as always video, Matt and kudos to VP for a great addition to the fam!
Got my kit almost built. Love it. If there was one thing I could be critical of it would be the need to remove quite a few parts of the truck (including the tranny) in order to get at the motor plate to change the motor of even just adjust the pinon or the slipper clutch. Quite annoying actually.
I was all set to buy a VS4-10 chassis and VFD transmission kit, plus the Axial SCX10 III axle/shock set for a new project... so this is PERFECT timing!
You can see the thought that the guys at Vanquish put into this. It is a really great looking truck and wow, that transmission :-) For me though a Vanquish has to have aluminium axles. Do they offer a performance benefit over plastic?? Probably not but thats just me. Im therefore going to withstand the pressure and wait on a deluxe version. BTW as usual a great vid. Well done.
UGH!!! The more I see this truck the more I want one! Unfortunately I will need to make a hard choice as to what truck to get rid of... Thanks for another excellent video!!! Cheers Doc
Just got my Phoenix today, starting to build it. I'm so excited and love your video. I'm going to start with overdrive and diff locked out into I can pick up some nice servos and radio system to option it out and use all the features.
I also used the grease that came with the kit, reminds me of Horizon Hobbys Marine grease, living in the pacific NW requires good WP products. Enjoy your videos, Thanks K
Likely not use the 33% overdrive much.. But dig and 2 wheel drive DEFINITELY. Really cool kit. I just got one and I am in the set up process; FlySky GT5 with Fusion Pro!!! Super excited to try it out.
Excellent video as always. I was not expecting a new truck from Vanquish but I am glad to see it, my wallet won’t be :) I love my VS4-10 Ultra and this Phoenix looks fantastic. Love the body style and the transmission really impresses me. I will be going with both extra servos because I love DIG units on my trucks and the selectable overdrive is a killer function. Hats off to SBG for giving great reviews and to Vanquish on another fantastic looking platform.
I’m gonna get this kit next year because I just finished a scx10.3 today. And this truck feels like it’s got a lot of scx10.3 in it. I’m gonna paint orange and black it looks the best
I haven't, YET, gotten into crawler, but I've over 25+ years in almost all aspects of RC including planes, quads, helicopters, all manor of ground vehicles, an all either electric or nitro, but not yet crawlers, especially in the scale market. I've had a thought that I'm certain others have already figured out, but hear me out an see if this is something that's been done successfully: Lexan body, back-painted in a silver close to sheet metal on the inside. Outside paint as a "primer" colour. Then over that the base colour, an then final colour if there is one followed by a clear. That way, when the body gets naturally scratched up, it will go to the "base/primer" colour, an finally wear to the "bare metal" colour which is on the inside. Natural scratching. Ideas?
I'm with you on the portals, they're not for me, but you're right in saying that's what's popular at the moment; so be it. However, that new VFD2 transmission/tcase is sick!!! The shiftable different overdrive ratios is a real game-changer for sure!!!! I know plastic works better for being slick on multiple surfaces and allowing you to bump some obstacles more easily, but I'm a die-hard metal guy just for the scale; I build more for form over function. lol They did definitely nail it on this one for today's market. I think with all the cool features and lower price point, these will sell great. We have four on the way to the shop that will be here tomorrow. A great review and video, as usual, Matt!
Well Matt, you sold this one well! I'm excited for this kit, it's Vanquish, it's priced well, plastic axles for better sliding over obstacles, who knew I needed selectable overdrive but I do now, it's got dig, and it's not a Jeep body!
Matt, nice video with your articulated (very well) explanation. Also liked the back ground music thru out. I've watched Josh's video and ya both have a real enthusiasm for this new release. This truck is certainly on my radar. To answer your question: I think I'd be on the side of optioning the features as I go. That way I can explore vehicle and enjoy it over time. Thats just me. Many thanks for the effort you put it. I enjoy tuning in and the comedy is always fun. Cheers!!!
Amazing rig 👌 but admittedly I'm a massive wpl / mn models fan myself and I personally still stand by the budget is best option 😁 if I had the cash for something more flashy like this then definitely I'd go with something like this but for now I've had very few issues that I've not been able to solve with the budget stuff and still lots of fun too 😊 By far the crawling community is the best rc community ❤❤ amazing people and very very helpful indeed
I'm a trail walker, so not much use for dig or overdrive. Not many rocks to climb in Southern England, but plenty trails through woods and along the nearby coast. At my age, the walking does me plenty good too.
Vanquish was out of price range for me. I tested the all alu one from my buddy and it is great rig. But this plastic one - yeah! I want one now. For sure my next kit!
Great review, but I hate you for making me place an order with A-Main :)) And you're right (at least in my case) that at this price point way more folks will give a VP kit a try.
