Pokemon Competitive Singles in Gen 3 has a long history. Vaporeon was once only seen as a defensive water type, where it was largely outclassed by Suicune, Milotic and Starmie.
But in recent years creative gamers have reinvented the identity of Vaporeon. Now most active Gen 3 players associate Vaporeon with its vital role on Hyper Offense teams as an aggressive lead.
A brilliant Vaporeon set emerged that had positive matchups against every common lead, helping the consistency of Aggressive teams by assuring that the early game went well.
