It is from Coastal Karanataka. It is not an incarnation of Vishnu nor is it the story of warriors. There is an idea of demigod called "Daiva". There are many such demigods. The demigod depicted in the movie is known as "Panjurli" which means face of Pig. The dancer does all make up and invites the power of demigod and gives assurance of protection.

Varaha is male boar who is the chief of the Shiva's army sent to the Earth to take care or guard villages and to solve the people's problems and console them. People have mistaken the Varaha from Vishnu avataram, Shiva will not send Vishnu to earth to solve problems on earth. Vishnu himself can manifest in a form he will choose when the situation goes bad. ( as shown in the different avatars).
