One of the most under rated singers in Malayalam. She has become a composer at the age of 13... but got recognized only when Aaro Nenjil released !! I always thought she is a non- malayali. I was surprised when I came to know that she is a pure Keralite.

This was one of the first keerthanams that I learned in my Carnatic vocal class. I find this western rendition quite interesting. This keerthanam has very nostalgic memories for me. I enjoyed your rendition very much Gowri. God Bless!

Imho, with all due respect to the artists who are among the finest. The original in Mohanaragam is timeless. The one recreated here is devoid of Bhakti. Without Bhakti, the rendition has lost its soul. There's famous song by Artie Glenn - Crying in the Chapel. When Elvis recreated it, the original essence was all intact yet Elvis gave it his stamp. There are plenty of other examples out there. ARR's Alaipayuthey too is one such. Thank you.

Awesome song and superb singing. Carry on GL with such good work. Dont listen to people who says "classical shouldn't be like this", "mohanam shouldnt be sung like that" etc. India as a country and every art form with it is growing and adapting globally. Change is the only constant fact in life. Music across the globe does experiments and changes and no one can stop this. Those who criticize these experiments are called "koopa mandookams" and they will always remain that way. So dont worry and forge ahead. Thousands of your fans like myself are with you and your team !!!

If you want to enjoy the wonderful start to the song and the beautiful delivery, from 2:22 directly skip to 3:30. I dont know why the sudden switch at 2:22 takes place and completely ruins the flow of such a beautiful song.

A pretty beautiful job of bringing two genres together. I like the arrangement for the varaveena part, and entire interpretation of mOhanam. I though the singer did a totally outstanding job of keeping the rAga bhava in place. I do not agree with another comment that says this is not mohanam. However, I really do not understand how the beautiful singing that starts @2.33 fits in. It will be really nice if the team takes perhaps a minute to explain why they put it in there. I mean it in a sincere, and certainly not a sarcastic way. Did they derive a different raga through a graha bhedam?

People commenting by and saying stuff that these new generation artists are breaking and meandering over the rules of Carnatic music, need to stop it right away. I mean, its okay to have your opinion as well but you do not have the right to ask them to "Stop what they are doing". Maybe its not for you to understand that music is just like any other means for communication. While they hold a conversation in their own way, their own form of dialect, you choose to stick to *rules* and forget what music is all about. Please stop being a hard-ass and do encourage them to take up music in their own way and allow them to think progressively, rather than disabling them with your disabling grammar tactics.

Jayaprakash G you can't really force people to believe that Carnatic music is for 'the Gods' or whatever you think. Music is subjective and opinions can differ from person to person. Maybe their rendition to this form of music is different. Maybe they want to convey their sense through this way. You really can't just say "you are wrong" if your facts are baseless and vague. I respect your opinion, but you must respect their own too...
