Oh my God, Varian's a Disney princess! He has an animal sidekick and a dead mom (and dead dad briefly). He has a beautiful voice, his own songs, he even has a villain arc, AND a redemption arc both of which most Disney princesses don't get, so that's even cooler. (I'm not being serious btw, I just thought it'd be fun to apply the Disney princess criteria to Varian.)
