What a treat of a video about my favourite plant. The variegated form is fabulous and you grow all those plants so beautifully in the deep pots. Thank you doe sharing and you have an immediate subscriber from Ireland.
Oh my god. I was trying to be funny by putting something ridiculous on my wishlist and when I googled "welwitschia mirabilis variegated" it brought me here. I didn't actually think this was a possibility, thank you for sharing :)
PS: I know this plant is controlled under CITES, I don't actually want one I just want something unique for fun on the top of my wishlist instead of the typical Thai Constellation/Pink Princess
From what I understand basically only north Namibia and south Angola. Fog Deserts with almost no rain but fog seasonally and a salty dry well draining soil more similar to regolith. Looking at geological desert sand types would be a good idea too. I think there are very few places they will grow and thrive. A heated greenhouse is probably your best bet if you're a northern hemisphere I'd assume. There are some research papers on the propagation and they use a modified cactus soil like this person does. Apologies if I got anything wrong I am still learning.
