F-111 Aardvark coming in War Thunder's Kings of Battle Update! This is the best CAS aircraft coming soon to War Thunder ↓ Social Links ↓ ➤ Twitch: / panzerpaw ➤ Twitter: / panzerpaw ➤ Discord: / discord ---
The reason the Vark has such low take off speeds is because originally, it was a joint project between the navy and air force, before the project was somewhat split up between the f-111 and f-14.
Tbh, I didn't realize how huge most aircraft really are until we had an Apache parked next to our Leopards. But yeah, the Vark is really gigantic considering it turns the way it does
@@PanzerPaw yeah I suspect it's turning a little too well but maybe not considering it's not a delta wing air brake and the elevators are half the surface area again of the wings maybe more, this helps create more lift like a second set of wings and they are very responsive so maybe the agility is right. Our RAAF pigs use to do Mach 3.4 down the qld coast to burn off fuel. I also need to find an interview from one of our pilots who said the plane could never go to fast it was so well built. Especially after the reinforced wings and alloy improvements we made
@solreaver83 Might be a little off there. Mach 3.4 is SR-71 speeds. F-111 is usually Mach 2.1 to 2.2, which is what many F-111C got to on their delivery flights.
Drag bombs aren't actually for supersonic bombing, although they make work for that in game. The point of them is for low altitude bombing, where you're low enough that if you drop a standard bomb you'd be likely to get caught in the explosion, the drag device slows the fall and gives you time to get clear of the blast.
Quick disclaimer. The Mi-8 can carry the most rockets in helicopters. There are many jets that carry double to triple the amount like the phantoms for example.
what i think they should do for arty in the game is if your in one and someone else spots a tank using the spotter ability it shows up a range number for you, allowing you to indirect fire at the target, just you cant see the target so wont know if they are in cover or not. like say a ally spots a target 2km away then you can start a bombardment of that area, most likely wont hit anything but could still be useful
at the moment its only going half the speed it actually should in vietnam their was a story where it was flying just above the trees at mach 2 or something rediculous and a foxbat intercepted it but could only keep up for 5 minutes before the foxbat began to melt and fall apart so they had to let the F-111 go
Isn't Mach 2 only achievable at high altitude, though? Afaik, Mach 2 at sea level is not feasible for a plethora of reasons, including friction-induced heat, drag, massive fuel inefficiency, humidity and other factors
@@hoshyro well yes it was known to cost australia 1 million dollars per supersonic flight to maintain the jet..... it was known to melt its self when flying low and its high alt top speed was mach 2.2 so at ground level id guess itd be mach 1.4 so even at them speeds its still incredibly slow in WT it should be the fastest jet in the game till the foxbat comes and the F-15E and SR-71
My Uncle was an aeromechamnic based at Danang & after the war at Amberly. He told me they had to be placed in a purpose built climate controlled sealed hangar for maintenance where they had to be RE-GLUED back together. Mind boggling maintenance costs to achieve its amazing performance. As for this model in WT, the big selling point of these was the swing wing ability & terrain following radar. Along with the pilot/weapons officer crew this implementation in game would be quite challenging to pull off convincingly IMHO.
I have a challenge you can try based on a few of your videos. You start with a tank with 0 upgrades (smokes do count as upgrades) and as you get 650 points you can install 1 upgrade from the lowest tier you have availabe But, if you die, no matter the way you die, you have to uninstall the highest tier of upgrades you have installed If a tier has an ammo type unlockable you can't use said ammo unless you fully install said tier and if you have to uninstall said tier the ammo must also be uninstalled of the tank
@PanzerPaw I wish it would, or use the FB-111A as that was technically the nuclear version as it was SAC, while this is a TAC 111. Really though the only difference is the FB-111A has a longer wing, that is the only difference.
The 4 outer pylons don't swing with the wings, but you "should" be able to swing the wings anyway, but only to (I think) 30^ (straight out is 16^)....once you drop the bombs, you "should" be able to jettison those outer pylons to get rid of that crazy drag. With a full 48 bomb load, you wouldn''t be able to go especially fast, even if we disregard wind resistance due to the outer pylons. 48 bombs, each being about 550lbs = 26,000 pounds, quite a heavy load. Also, the gunsight was controlled by the radar in terms of steering directions, range, and deflection. Source: the gunsight on the A was my job in the USAF 80's.
HUGE VARK fan here! I'm soooo hyped! If it doesn't get moved up in BR it will be good in Air RB for getting to the bases before anyone else. and of course it will be great for bombing in SIM too. I wonder if we will ever see Terrain Following Radar function in WT. There are some great stories from F-111s pilots about using that feature.
Imagine you and your friends playing ground RB USA, then making enough points each of you to get the F-111 and carpet bombing the entire map with 4 Aardvarks
I hope the US gets Hellfire Ls, the current hellfires kinda suck and the AGR-20s are even worse lol but seeing so many helicopters getting FnF weapons it just makes sense that US and other nations that don’t already have them get some.
That leopard 40mm thing should be at least 5.3, because holy cow it's a leopard chassis. Sure, open top... but 70mm of angled hull armor and high speed is not exactly what you want at 4.3 for balancing. And, it's got a good gun!
@PanzerPaw the B variant would require them to make a different nose and wings for the model. Likewise, to make the C version unique would mean putting AGM-84 Harpoon and AGM-88 HARM in the game. More likely, they will put the F, as it is the same airframe but with improved engines, avionics and cleared for newer weapons.
You’re right. the longer barrels allow the air that gets pushed out from the explosion to push against the bullet for a longer period of time, building up more pressure inside the barrel before it can escape out the end. this gives the bullet more energy
