Tip for dudes who arnt use to people who are super agressive,If defense is this aggressive they will always fall for fakes, they care about blocking the shit out of you and cutting you off on drives, simply misdirection fakes will get them moving the other way hard since they’re trying to prove their spot on the team so they’ll cut you off early, they’re gonna foul on pump fake, they’ll foul on layups,at one point they’ll stop jumping on fakes and you can actually get the shot Compare this game to a run with NBA players like hey play way more calm and not stupid aggressive, obviously these arnt anywhere near close to NBA players but study games and you’ll notice how to get past teams like this,everyone/every team has a weakness, exploit it as much as you can.
Nba level is worried about scoring more than hard nose defense....anyone or team who isnt great at scoring will usually be dominated by aggressive defense......refer to college ...WVU can bully alot of teams with the full court press till they play great teams usually in the ncaa tournament.
This makes me miss this man. Just hooping with dudes you've known forever, competing hard, being physical but no one gets too mad at one another. Wish I could go back.
@@austinmurrell2335 I actually have social anxiety myself, I had it back when I was playing in high school too. It helps if you have a friend or two on the team so they can introduce you a bit, but if you don't, the best way to get familiar with the guys is to just start playing. I think just being out there and hooping with guys helps you get acquainted easier. If you really want to try playing absolutely do it. Try it while you still can and if you like it, stick with it.
@@cgomc323 it’s mostly not that I know most people that play but it’s just the crowd and the fear of missing so when I play pickup games I don’t shoot I just pass cause I don’t really want to fail at it
Some of yall forgetting this is varsity tryouts. They probably already got a v squad made from people already in the program and these are randoms because you never know, there might be a stud who's been working or just moved to the school. Our school holds tryouts for sophomore jv and varsity and only like 3 ppl max get added
@@fetahmorina if you’re school wasn’t the best at basketball, maybe that’s the case, in GA my school is decent, so not a lot of people were allowed to join.
I don't get simulation drills where you can't dribble or shoot. Doesn't seem to simulate real defense or offense. I guess the main point would be to work on off the ball screens.
i think it's largely to drill defensive habits like getting to the right help position, communicating, closing out, boxing out. Not all players focus on those things in the offseason and pickup
Don't get me wrong, this coach is good. He is teaching good defense. The only thing is that when teaching good defense you have to critique the little things because that's what matters whether it's a player doing a defensive stance wrong or a player not cutting. All I see is the coach tunnling in an aggressiveness and letting them slack on other skills.
The coach is just making the offense panic and forcing them to play without any logic, and the defense is just fouling. A lot of energy is being wasted
Yeah I noticed that from the coach's side. It's better to slow the heck down and look for a play instead of playing like there's 5 seconds left on the shot clock every single time. Going 100mph like this leads to a lot of turnovers.
crap ton of traveling, poor ball handling, the lack of defensive discipline my god😂 not to mention amount of open looks that were avoided for some reason
yeah, varsity tryouts have 0 rules in the 1v1 matchups, I got hella fouled a lot during all of the games I played and it literally prevented me from showing out.
Seems like these drills will create a lot of bad habits on defense. Overplaying when the offense isn't allowed to dribble. No defensive fouls called. No traveling called. I guess it could be good for getting an offense used to super aggressive defense, but there is no logic to it. It's just scrambling
9:00 nobody helping at all. their rotations are gonna be shit. I mean the backside guys are on rimline but why tf is white shirt glued to his man like dat
I had a highlight behind the back pass at basketball tryouts in highschool. The crowd went crazy. Kamontae Griffin (star point guard) told me he was shocked I was not selected to play on the team.
I Can't watch this, its so bad, they look like they playing basketball at a park with some middle school kids. This shouldn't even be a team. The girls basketball team plays way better than half of those kids on the team. if i was the school i would get new players.
