The 7-day Vasco Saptah which begins with 24 hour bhajans in praise of Shri Damodar, is Goa's largest feri (fair). Hundreds and hundreds of stalls mushroom around Shri Damodar temple, lining Swatantra Path and Fr Juze Vaz roads between St Andre's church junction and Vasco da Gama railway station, and all the bylanes connecting these two roads and FI Gomes road.
Lesley and Maria spent 3 hours roaming among the stalls on the first day morning and still could not see all of them. This is despite the ferry being smaller than in earlier years.
But we saw enough to know there are great quality kitchen items, puja items, food stuffs, household goods, traditional Goan pottery and stoneware items, clothes, shoes in abundance, and at very good rates.
The Vasco Saptah in 2023 is a must visit.
