I have the Flash 16 and V7. I found the V7 much more forgiving with a noticeably better sweet spot than the Flash. The V7 has significantly more power as well. That can be good or bad depending on the player though.
I definitely agree the V7 has more power for driving and any shot where you're doing a big swing. But boy does the Flash fly through the air in hands battles! Both GREAT paddles IMO.
Loved this paddle. Lasted 4 months before de lamination. I’d love to play with this paddle again but won’t purchase as long as they offer less than a 6 month warranty
Did vatic replace it? Not a lot of places do more than six months nowadays. Might want to look at Hudef’s Mage Pro, which has a limited lifetime warranty. I have a video on that paddle on the channel.
It will def have more power than the Prism! It’s a very good paddle. You could also check out my video on the Honolulu J2K, which is one step above the Flash Pro IMO.
Nice review, but more reviews has the Vatic V7 14mm paddle has a lot more control than the Vactic V7 16mm Did you play with 14mm??. I like the 7.9oz weight and my Vatic paddle is the Flash Purple $99 paddle which I enjoy and just curious should I get the 14mm or 16mm . Thanks again
Generally, a thicker core means more control. So, the 16mm Flash would probably be more controllable than the 14mm Flash. I actually haven’t played with the 14mm Flash, but that’s a good rule of thumb. To my knowledge, there isn’t a v7 in 14mm. As for the prism line, they are not thermoformed, so they’ll probably be easier to handle/more controllable than the non-prism line for sure. Unfortunately, I haven’t played with the prism line, either. However, if you’re used to the flash prism 16mm and are looking to get more pop, you could look at the flash 14mm prism. But if you want more pop and more power overall, look at the non-prism flash like the one in this review, and I would still stick with the 16mm core in that case IMO. And don’t forget MATTHEWK promo code gets you a discount! Hope that helps!
Thanks for this very informative vid, Matthew. Question: Have you had an opportunity to compare the Vatic Pro Flash to the Vatic Pro Prism Flash? I'd love to know how they compare. Thanks! Liked and subscribed.
Thank you so much for the kind words! Unfortunately, I have not yet gotten to play much with any of the paddles from the Prism line. (I do hope to!) Because the Prism line is not thermoformed, it’s most likely going to need you to bring more power from your body and mechanics than the thermoformed line. That being said, the Prism line is considered Gen 1.5 because they have foam in the edges that enlarge the sweet spot. Tbh, you can’t go wrong with either line. My two cents, if you want to jump to a thermoformed paddle, the Flash Pro is controllable enough to not be too worried. If you’re just starting out, go with the Prism line. It’s beyond a great starting paddle, and you’ll be able to play with it a long time. Also, you can add weight if you eventually want a bit more power. And just a shameless plug, the MATTHEWK code will give you a discount on the Prism as well. Hope all that helps!
@@MatthewKPickleball 🙂 I actually purchased a Prism Flash 16mm and love it, but I was curious about how it compares to the Flash 16mm. My wife signed us up for pickleball lessons and I've only played 6x so far, but immediately fell in love with it; and, coming from a long tennis background, my skills have advanced quite quickly. We started on 2 Franklin *aluminum* paddles from Amazon which really sucked -- no feel, difficult to generate spin, did I tell you that they sucked? My wife moved us up to Selkirk Latitude 2.0 paddles, but because I collected a lot of great feedback about the Prism Flash 16mm, I purchased one before even hitting a ball with the SLK paddle. 🙂 I've now got over a dozen tennis racquets that are no longer being used. LOL! Cheers!
@@FlowJunkie65- I played with the Prism Flash 16mm all summer long and loved it. I'll play with the Flash 14mm tonight for the first time and report back with a comparison, but the biggest issue I have with the Prism is lack of power, and more importantly, pop. It's a minor complaint though and I love the paddle.
The Vatic Pro Prism V7 is not thermoformed is it? I’m considering trying a thermoformed paddle and thinking of either the flash or the Alchemy! Thoughts?
The prism line isn’t thermoformed, but they do have foam in the edges, which will help widen the sweet spot. If I was choosing right now between the Flash Pro and the Alchemy, I’d do the 16mm Alchemy. I’ve done a few touches with it and can tell I’m going to really love the Alchemy coming from the Flash Pro. Also, MATTHEWK promo code will work for the Alchemy as well in case you do end up going that route! To be honest, you really can’t go wrong with any paddle from Vatic. I personally think they have the best combo of power and control all around. And then the price point is super fair IMO.
@@carlrodrigues6919 I picked up a demo 14mm pro flash from Vatic and I must say, I way prefer the V7 Prism (16mm). I just find I can hit much harder with it and I'm not that much slower when it comes to hand movement over the flash. I also see more spin out of the V7! I think I'll stick with my V7 for now.
