R I P Vaughan Oliver. 4AD / COCTEAU TWINS & DEAD CAN DANCE MADE THE LATE 80's thru the mid 90's for me.....and I'm a 70's/80s VH Era Rock/Metal guitarist. I've never heard music any better than from this label and period in time before or since.

Seeing the artwork on the cover of an album can be just as nostalgic as the music itself. Thanks for the wonderful tribute. The artwork is such an important part of the musical experience.

When shopping in the 80's you instantly knew a 4AD record by the Vaughn Oliver cover. Same Story with Peter Saville & Factory. 4AD cover band The Hope Blister do a beautiful version of ' Let The Happiness In " on their " Smile Ok ! " LP. Cool tribute !

yes i heard from derekvon earlier. i was and still am big on the 4AD, david syvian etc. loved his art. it truly represented the music inside.

Thanks Mazzy and mystery person behind the camera. I love these art oriented videos of the music. The graphic design is so much a part of the album experience, more so for LPs. I don't have a lot of 4AD LPs, but I do recognize the style. - Chris

Great topic, music art photography, one of my favorite cover designers is REID MILES (including the photographs of FRANCIS WOLF) for the iconic blue note covers.

I think it's an a consideration of buying an album is the cover art.

This is another video where I’m familiar with the artwork, but never knew the name behind it. Very interesting hearing the techniques used to achieve those images.

Thanks I looked at album covers a lot in my teens, thats way I went to art school in the early 80’s, maybe one of them. I even did a couple of covers for The Hix alt folk rock band from Philadelphia and Hypnotic Clambake another alt band out of Boston!
