I like that “Ed is dead” is referenced in new Vegas, right in front of vault 34

Its the episode 8 and we still haven't been at the Cathedral and the Boneyard. Or the Lost Hills and Mariposa. And since the Boneyard is huge its gonna take at least 3 episodes on its own. So this series will most likely have at least 20 episodes w/o non-plot-related discussions like "The profile of Master". And here is the thing. Fallout 2, even w/o the Restoration Project, is going to be twice as long. So can we please take a moment to say "thank you" to Ox for doing these series for us instead of asking him to tackle the monster that is Fallout 2 asap? And while I'm at the topic... Oxhorn, will you play F2 with the Restoration project or without?

In the Overseer's defense, he's actually right. The majority of the Vault Dwellers couldn't hack it in the wasteland. Now, hooking up with one of the settlements could be an option, but that's a lot of people to drop on a small place when only a portion of them would have the skills to really contribute. Down the road, when the NCR is getting started? Different story. But in the timeframe of Fallout 1, keeping their heads down and their doors locked (most of the time) actually is the best option for the people of V13. Sending patrols out to gather information, skills and materials is something that needs to be done, but we never really see a Vault being proactive in that way in Fallout. Be neat to see, actually. An extremely long Fallout game where we start out as a Dweller in an active and safe Vault that volunteers for external missions to gather information and contacts. Bringing in supplies and actively stopping raider/mercenary/mutant attacks on the Vault. All in preparation for the Vault opening in full and it's inhabitants going out to Get Started. Then have the other half of the game kick off.

Here's a quick tip I just did, in the very beginning of the game when you start out in the cave, loot Ed's body and kill all the rats first to get nearly 500 XP. Then select your Pip Boy and select "rest till morning". This causes a day to pass which will allow you to enter the vault (Vault 13) so do that. Then while in the vault go to level 3, go to the lockers and crates section and grab any supplies you can find EXCEPT for the canteens. You already have 3 of them plus you don't want to unnerve the people of the vault by taking any more. Then go up to the guy in the adjacent room and ask him about why there's a guarded room. Get to the part where you ask "It seems like people of importance can access the room." and then the part where you say "I'm a person in need." and he should unlock the door for you to get to the lockers one of which contains a shotgun and 20 shells not including the already loaded ones. Do that and grab any other supplies in the room like some JHP bullets for your 10mm starting weapon pistol. THEN leave the vault and head over to Shady Sands and do various things there such as get XP by talking to Katrina and giving the farmer advice on crops. You should also get some supplies here including 2 important ropes (one in a bookself and the other laying the south building of the east section of the settlement). Now the reason you want to do all this is because the shotgun really helps with the early enemies in the game such as the rad scorpions, mole rats and pig rats you'll encounter after Shady Sands. It typically takes 2 shots to key a rad scorpion or a mole rat and typically one shot to kill a pig rat. This weapon will come in handy for the rad scorpion cave as well as Vault 15. Anyways in the cave there's some 10mm JHP rounds for your pistol in the very South passage. Kill all the rad scorpions take their tails (this is for Razlo to make antidote for rad scorpion poisoning) and return to Shady Sands. Give the rad scorpion tails to Razlo to make the antidote (one bottle per tail) and do anything else you need to do in the camp (Like ask Ian for directions to Junktown and the Hub) before heading off to Vault 15. Hope this helps!

I think the water chips were used by Vault-Tec to control when various timed vaults opened. Instead of giving the overseers instructions like, "Open it after 50 years" which they may have chosen to ignore, Vault-Tec only gave them enough supplies to last for the intended period, and the Chip happens to be the first vital component to Vault maintenance to expire. I seem to remember a console that suggests this in F3 by showing a correlation between how soon each vault was supposed to open and how many chips that vault received.

I like to think Ian died in Tim Cain’s playthrough and to make himself feel better he just made it canon

The overall layouts of the vaults were so much better back in these games. They were so much darker too. Modern Fallout games are so bright and upbeat by comparison. I really miss the atmosphere of these classics.

Don't forget the plasma rifle and combat armor in the glow. Also you can pick pocket the sleeping robots weapons so when they wake up they can only melee you.

Fallout 1 is really good imo, setting/theme/story wise etc. It's been great watching you go through it (because the gameplay is not for me unfortunately)! Hey oxhorn, I love your channel and fallout content. It's quite nice how you go through all the options and say exactly what your character says so I don't have to pause and look at all the options like in other peoples playthroughs. I highly reccomend playing fallout Nevada and making a series for that! It's an amazing fan made fallout 1/2 style game

I find it absolutely facinating to watch your videos of fallout 1. I only found out about Set a couple of years ago, and I first played fallout '98. You 'just' introduced me to another quest within vault 13, being the "stay or leave" quest. Actually oxhorn, having tue flasks in your inventory does help. Sometimes in the wasteland when you stop you take damage due to DEHYDRATION having water in your inventory prevents this.

in new vegas you can find mysteriously dead starngers in one of the ultra luxury hotel rooms is a direct reference because his son said he does not know what happened to him so there are more after you opened the locked use using lock pinck and you look at him two people attack you to keep silence, you should do a short video to complete the story.

You can actually access the armory at the beginning of the game. If you leave the vault and come back, talk to the armory guard, and then go bug the Overseer saying that you haven't found the chip yet (you can do this back to back without waiting), he will eventually get fed up and ask if there is anything they can do to help. This allows you to unlock the armory and the shotgun right from the start of the game. This happens when he gives you the extra ammo and stimpacks.

A mod it may be, the contents have proven to be faithful to Fallout lore. I do appreciate getting to see what Fallout 1 was like. Kind of feels like watching post-apoc Diablo, though~~

Since I’ve seen you have high lock pick. If you lock pick the door specialy with the electronic lock pick you can get in the hub. So if you lock pick the door that just skips the quest to the glow)

not sure if this is a question you get a lot but what's your process with making shirts? do you design them yourself or commission artists and split some of the cash? it's way more varied and fun than the actual fallout merch but it'd be interesting to know where the designs come from
