Vauxhall Opel Astra G Mk4 Irmscher Pollen Filter Replacement. I remove the pollen filter located behind the passenger glove box and replace with a new one. There are 2 types listed for this Vauxhall Astra MK4 so make sure you have the right one. This car had the wrong one installed and was forced into the chamber rendering it useless.

Thanks to all in the comments section who let me know the socket size was 5.5mm. I didn't know they made one.

This is identical to the Astra H for anyone that’s interested. I’d also recommend hoovering out the filter housing before putting the new one in 👍🏻

I think the screws on the flap are 5.5mm, odd size! I remember struggling to find the right socket too

5.5mm was used alot back in the days of old photocopiers and duplicators. Now a days it ain't used at all on them. Use to be able to get hold of the sockets easy back then.

Hi martin what do you think of ASPEN PETROL in mowers and garden tool over the winter + i think you can get 2stroke for the old motorbikes. Bit expensive but if keep things good.
@retrorestore
@retrorestore 3 года назад
I've never winterised any mower, strimmer ect and always used normal fuel Graham. Never had any problems bud.

I could tell straight away that the old filter was too big and had been forced in. As James has already said, the screws could well be 5.5mm. I've done this very job my Astra. I even did a service video. The pollen filter needs to changed every year as part of the annual service. I've started using Bosch filters when I buy from Euro Car Parts. The quality is noticeably better than the cheapest parts and only costs a little bit more.

I wonder what the idea of 2 different size filters is? Maybe the other is for a left hand drive?
@procta2343
@procta2343 3 года назад
could be or they changed the system, made way through the cars production.
@rekordi
@rekordi 3 года назад
It is done to make sure you allways have the wrong filter. It goes in in such a awkward angle, that it is really common for the filter to be mangled like that. It is just a stupid design. Just as bad on the left hand drive version.
