Problem with the left indicator, flashing fast, Irregular or not flashing at all. I Checked all the bulbs first to make sure they are all good then decided to check the relay. This is how I solved the problem.
Its best to disconnect the battery before fiddling with the relay box. On some Vauxhall models removing the battery allows easier access to the torx screws on the box lid anyway. Replacing those torx screws with hexagon bolt headed screws is a good idea . The torx heads fill with muck and corrode on older vehicles. Either way ,a smear of copper grease on reassembly will make things easier next time the lid has to come off. Good video
Yes I have been doing this too on 2010 opel Vauxhall combo van ...I have ordered a relay switch and I hope all goes my way...thank you for the great video ...
A massive thank you for this video. My right side indicators were not working. I had trouble freeing up the star shape nuts. Your video helped me remove things in the correct order. I bought the relay in a breakers yard for £15 and managed to fit it myself . I saved £120 that my garage wanted to charge me. I was even wary about cutting my hand getting the casing off too. Thanks for sharing .
You are welcome, I'm glad it helped you. Garages are always ready to pounce, they charge way to much so anything you could do yourself is a big saving.
@@massoudmakes They wanted £40 for the relay. It's the labour as its difficult by design to get at isn't it. I'd never have able to do this without your video. It's so well explained and filmed at the right pace. Thank you again.
Brillian video, pretty easy to do you arr handy with diy. Bought relay in ebay for £6.99 and and took about 45mins to replace. Probably saved me about £50 if taken to garage! Thanks!!
Thanks and you are welcome. £6.99 is good value but with my relay all it needed was a bit of cleaning and it is still going. You are right anything you could do yourself would save you a lot . last weekend I changed the crankshaft sensor, bought it on eBay £14.99 garage would have charged at least £150 .
Thanks for uploading this mate mine is doing the exact same thing but on the right hand side indicator though. Will be out there tomorrow taking it apart now i know what the problem actually is cheers
Nice one bruva. I thought it was my dodgy central lock/alarm. I found your video googling xc combo flasher coz I wanted to find the location didn't expect the first video to show up was actually going to the exact quick left indicator flash.
Thanks. I had a problem with my right flashing light alot of time and i was sure that this was the bulb but i checked and all of them is ok and now im sure that this is the relay.
This is the correct method , however I cut a few corners and got the same results , I removed battery bracket and slid it to the left by approx 2 inches , I then removed all screws apart from back 2 and lifted front of fuse box , swopped relay and replaced screws and repositioned battery , took 15 minutes , no leakage , really is no need to remove vents and other covers . I have massive fat hands , if I can reach in , you can . great video though, thanks
yeah , your way was the correct way , however I've found in the past that the more you take off the less likely it is to all go back in to place , great video , thanks
Thanks for the vid, I had the same problem, but but mine had number of faults, After removing the relay, I checked it and I couldn't find a fault on the relay, was still flashing fast, then I checked the indicator bulbs, I realized one of the bulb was missing, after the complete headlight was replaced from the panel beater, I replaced the bulb and the problem was still existing, Then I remove the wire connector that is connecting the complete headlight, I noticed that the matching pin unit has slightly moved towards the inside ine the headlight, and I pulled it back and insert the wire connector, the problem was solved, Thanks for the video one again, I would have lost a lot of money
down here in newport gwent we say RARSE....good video bro..my stereo and electric windows dont work any ideas ?i got a tigra and they r worse cars ever made drivers footwell soaking, indictator and main beam dont work, stereo nd windows wont work side mirrors wont work mass air flow sensor is a joke too..um....what else ? steering rack prone to fuk up power steering man thats just next level problem.....all in all ? rarse!!!
@@massoudmakes salve senta sarebbe così gentile da indicarmi dove si trova il relè dei tergicristalli anteriore opel corsa 2002 benzina grazie mille anticipatamente
Thanks for a great video... very realistic, with dropped screw and bruised hand - just what we all experience! I had exactly that problem with my Corsa, right down to the box seal perishing in the same place. Replaced the relay (£10 on Amazon) and all works fine. Be patient with trim replacement... a bit tricky.
Hi there 2 questions if you don't mind, is the horn relay in that box? and that flasher unit, is there one relay coil for each side? from Fred in essex.
+Tom Smith I am not an expert so I don't know where the horn relay is and the Indicator relay I thought I had to replace it but by cleaning all the contacts I managed to solve the problem. Sorry I could not be of any help.
Thanks for this video :) I have same problem but with right turn signal, flashing too fast also. But, I have 2 smaller relays in that fuse box. I was change that LH relay and have same problem. Also, I was try to change and check all bulbs.. but still have this problem. i will go to professional electric man.. :D
+massoud147 I'm having trouble getting the cover off I've took all 7 screws out I think it may have been siliconed on by the previous owner... Did you find it hard to take off?
I need to get into that relay box but don't have the right spanner to put the star screw socket on so I'll be having to get one first as my windscreen wipers intermediate slow setting fuse is in that relay box
Had no passenger side indicators at all on Combo 1.4. After mucking round with bulbs, fuses, indicator arm I changed the relay and all worked fine. Couple of fiddly screws but got there. Thanks for uploading, great video.
Nice one. I did the job pretty much exactly as shown, except I wedged the plastic panel against the bonnet. Really awkward positioning by vauxhall making you have to move the battery. Good taste in socket set though, did it come from Lidl for a stupidly low price like mine?
I'm happy it helped you out. Yes, car companies don't think about us poor DIYers with cheep tools. Speaking of cheep tools, yes it came from Lidl like a lot of my tools. They do sell great tools at great prices.
Does the relay influence headligths in any way? I got a problem where my headligths wont turn on and signal ligth flashes really fast if i turn headligths on as well as ABS ligth flashes. It could be an open circuit since the car had quite few water leaks at the back and front. I had fixed 2 times by playing with fuses. Any suggestion? Pls help
henio008 It's a short circuit not an open circuit, electricity will try to find the shortest/easiest root possible, it's using the water to short circuit. check all the way around your vehicle to make sure none of the bulbs have blown out. Fix the leak before you carry out repairs otherwise you'll be back to square one by the next time it rains.
Hi The signal sound comming from the relay or speaker? Thank you very much to answer me because i have same car but 2 separated relays, the sound during signaling is very low. so i cannot hear the signal during driving
I think the clicking sound is from the relay not the speaker. My car was the same, the clicking sound was low but I think that is normal for this model.
Always the left one that goes on these. All this just to get to a bloody indicator relay. Stupid design. Should've been placed in the fuse/relay box upfront. Thanks for your help. Sorted the Tigra nicely.
Tell me about it. Ebay AUS relay is $39AUD (28USD/20GBP). There was a second hand relay which was about 20$ cheaper but these relays must have defect because it seems to be common issue so no way am I buying 2nd hand unit.
Wow I just rang my parts store (not dealer) which are pretty good on prices and I have trade account they wanted $90AUD (49GBP) at trade price, makes ebay price cheaper now.
great vide sir . i have astra h the same problem but the indicator shuts down within 5 or 6 clicks i checked the fuses as well as changed the bulb and nothing i tried to change the calculator (located in that place you worked in ) and it works well . so do you guess if i do you same process it will work ?
My indicators work fine on my Vauxhall combo LGV, the only problem I have is that I can't hear the damn thing it is so quiet. Every other audible sound on the van is spot on, I just can't hear the indicators on a turn or a lane change. I drive god knows how far sometimes with them still activated. Is there any way or anything I can do to make the audible click clock click clock sound much louder.
My left has gone irregular but seen a video where you just unscrew to get indicator bulb out and it has no wires. I am assuming it has to make contact somewhere. I unscrewed the left indicator but couldn't get it turned fully but now it's working fine for now could it be the contact around the actual bulb itself
My dad's corsa has no indicator working just now. And when you put them on its very fast but no lights flashing at all. Fuses have been checked and bulbs have been checked. Any ideas?
I had the same problem, bulbs and fuses OK and I also cleaned the bulb sockets to make sure there is no lost connection. The relay was next but I thought I clean the contacts before I buy a new one and it worked.
@@massoudmakes did it make all of them go out? Never had all 4 out at once! Garage checked the fuses and the relay and seem ok. Checked all the bulbs too. Thanks I will tell him to give everything a wee clean!
@@massoudmakes was reley.the specific sound as tik tak was but faster than normal at right side and light was not at all. At left specific sound ok and light ok.
I was going to change the relay but I thought it was worth a try cleaning the contacts and luckily it worked for me. Some people change the relay for a new one but as I am not an expert I cannot be any help, sorry.
Massoud 147 Brilliant. some years ago the indicators on my kangoo was flashing too fast and failed the test, my local Renault dealer quoted me " around £500 as thefaulty part is in the centre of the dash", chuckled the girl on the reception. This was 1/3 of the value of the van. I got it passed as it was elsewhere and sold it .......but £500????
You got central locking!! You obviously not from Australia our car market rips all the options out of our cars doesn't matter which brand you buy either we got an Audi and which has so many missing conform features. I'd be checking in the fuse box under the bonnet. You need the owners manual to tell you which fuse is which. The indicator fuse as I found out by trial and error is the same fuse as the hazard lights.
My thanks as well, I have to tackle this and the Haynes manual doesn't show anything (so sad how much they have let themselves go) and bad effort by the Vauxhall designer who made it so awkward - in Alec Issigonnis day he would have fired you! Anyway hope your hand is ok...at least I know to watch out for that!
Yes, car design is getting more and more difficult for the DIYers but thanks to RU-vid we can share our experience and findings even if sometimes it might hurt a bit 😀. Good luck with your repair and thanks for watching. Also my hand is ok , hurt a lot less than the price that the garage would've charged.
I first checked all the bulbs and then cleaned all the contacts in the bulb holders but it did not solve the problem. I heard that it might be the relay so I cleaned the relay contacts and it worked for me. I don't know how to test relays, I'm no expert and I've heard they are not cheap so you need to be sure it is the relay before buying one.
@@massoudmakes besides the rely could it be the computer box malfunction bcoz both sides of the indicators dont work. I replaced the bulbs with new ones but none of them switch on when connected. Also thank for your help
@@MKT-uc9xe I didn't know there was a computer box, I thought the relay did it all. Do the lights come on when you press the hazard light button? Is power getting to the bulbs? sorry I can't think of anything else.
You could have saved yourself a lot of grief if you used a flexible screwdriver extension, and/or a right angled screwdriver extension, for the parts under the black plastic grille at the bottom of the window.
Normally it's pretty easy on Corsas, but these are built with Left Hand Drive in mind For the UK to adapt the car to be Right Hand Drive they had to move over the battery for room for the steering column, and that causes all sorts of trouble getting to things on that side
My combo van has problem with the left hand flasher checked all bulbs it's the relay why couldn't Vauxhall fit the relay in the fusebox instead, dam vehicle designers
