This was a 69 plate with 36k on the clock regularly serviced at the main dealer from new. The fault shows as an oil pressure warning on the dash which started intermittently now is doing it all the time.
As you can see on the scanner at timestamp 3.00 when reviving the engine the reading is in the 300s but should be in the 500s thus bringing on the warning light. On inspection the belt is badly cracked and needs replacing asap before the engine goes bang. Due to the high pressure at idle it may need a pump too as that may be damaged. The car also misfires badly when the fault occurs. Hope this helps someone out.

My 308 had the same problem and had to be towed to the garage. Had the wet belt checked by Peugeot dealer 8 months ago and they said it was Ok but RAC said it was shredding and would need to be replaced and oil pump serviced. RAC engineer recommended that I do not start the engine as although the fault would clear it is only temporary and the engine oil could get contaminated by rubber pieces and engine itself damaged.

Yes unfortunately a very common problem and terrible design

My dads having this problem and thanks for the confirmation as I didn’t believe what the dealer was telling him, I’ve always been under the impression the schedule for a timing belt replacement is 10 years or 100 thou miles… he’s is 4 years old and has done 40.000 disgusting this happens, should be a recall, quoted £1,200-£2000 main dealer (Vauxhall)

My 71 plate Vauxhall Crossland 42000 on clock , I was made aware of the problem of these belts failing so I checked mine low and behold severely cracked I only purchased it 25 may 2024 so I got it booked in at dealership they agreed it needed new belt but this is the insane thing for me I was asked have you had any engine faults show up I sad not yet hopefully I’ve caught it early they then said oh well we can’t fix it under manufacture warranty, so basically you gotta drive the damed thing till you get a fault show up or the belt snaps and totals the engine , they first said £999 to do job then I was told we can just do cam belt for £485 that means not water pump aswell???? I know I’m confused also , so now I have this bill to pay in a car I’ve just bought basically, because I have not driven it to breaking point it’s a terrible situation that people are in with these puretech engines all should be fixed free it’s becoming a well know problem this 1.2 engine is a ticking time bomb basically and some engine are failing with very low mileage it’s a disgrace, thanks for the video

I agree as it is the manufacturing at fault here. Who in their right mind puts a rubber belt in oil and thinks everything is going to be ok.

Im getting this fault in my corsa, not even two years old and only done 14000 miles. Fault only appears when the cars being driven for a while and when you stop, go into first and idle. Could it be just a sensor or the belt failed already

Get it checked

Would seem that the Scanner is reading the live pid backwards/incorrectly - as the belt debris will be blocking the pickup strainer and creating LOW oil pressure, which would concur with the P code.
@caralarmandradio
@caralarmandradio Год назад
It would seem that way but the sensor is reading very low at initial rev up time 3.00 in the video in the 300s when the car requires over 500 thus bringing on the oil warning indicating a blockage then too high when back to idle when it should be low. Its been to two garages and had two new sensors. None of them looked at the belt.

My Opel Grandland X displays intermittently on the dash "oil level pressure failure: stop vehicle".. It could possibly be the wet/timing belt?? I have it booked into my local Opel garage which is about ten minutes drive, would it be safe to drive it this far? If that's the potential problem.

Yes but it’s easy to check just open the oil cap and look at the belt if you see any cracks get it done asap

@@caralarmandradio Thanks for the reply.. Yes, there is signs of cracking in it.. I'm not driving it at the moment, but plan to drive to the garage which is ten mins away.. Would this be safe to do so?
