Symptoms of a bad and failing oil pressure sensor. If the oil pressure gauag shows 0, 20, 60 or 80 then it is possible the oil pressure sensor is faulty. If the oil warning light is on, it should be inspected.
This is a great Mechanic, the explanation factor has to be highlighted, without bs he tells it like it is. Thank you, Brother, keepin' it real, it's the best deal. For this, I'm a new sub.
This happened to my first engine on my frontier 2006. My mechanic insisted that it was a bad piston rod so I had to replace it with a new one still under warranty luckily. Honestly I think he did to make money. Now its doing it again. The needle goes up and down but no issues with the motor.
Good looking out bro. I bought my cts new in 2012 never had an issue at all. This is the first time something has gone wrong. Thank you for explaining my problem to me. I can fix this myself. I appreciate you thanks again..
Having an issue at the moment that’s stressing me out. Four days ago I noticed when I would take sharp turns I’d get “ check engine oil level “ and as soon as I’d drive normal it would go away , and it’s been doing that ever since. I checked my oil yesterday by looking at the dipstick and it was dry. I decided to do an oil change and when I jacked up my car I noticed it there was dried up oil around the oil filter area and alongside other spots by it. I assumed that maybe I didn’t tighten the filter enough, so I made sure to do it this time lol . I finished doing the oil change and drove it a bit and still got the light that says “ check engine oil level “when I took a sharp turn . As soon as I got back to my place I checked the dipstick again and it was still dry
Small thought, it may not make sense and I'm sure after years of engineering this shouldnt be a problem but its a thought... After an oil change or replacing the oil could the small port in the sensor make it hard for the oil to flow in causing air to be trapped in it.
My 350z oil pressure gauge was showing 120+. Changed the sensor with an Amazon one for $20. Now the gauge is reading low close to 5-10psi. And after a day, now the red oil can light is coming on in the gauge cluster when at idle. I bought a manual tester and it’s reading a healthy 14psi (the tester was on loose too, as oil was leaking). Thought it was the gallery gasket, guessing just a faulty cheap sensor from Amazon. If my car blows up…..
Exactly how my Ford 2002 expedition stalled out... Oil gauge was goin bonkers .. high and low ... Then not long after my SUV stalled out.. left my expedition parked for about a year... Untill recently this month I'm trying to figure out what next to do... When I checked the oil. There's no mixture of anything odd ... Jus Looks like Black oil that needs to be changed.. so now the radiator has been replaced,. I'm putting in a new Air filter, oil & oil....and jus last week I bought the oil pressure sensor or something.... I haven't installed anything yet jus the air filter .... But I was told it was the oil sensor... And the engine was locked... I don't know...what \ or where to start.. but with the battery first 😂
If you've been driving the car on short trips, is diesel, and is cold outside, then it can happen that there's carbonization in the engine or some part is clogged somewhere. An engine flush followed by oil and filter change can fix it. Air filter replacement is also advisable. But it can be something else such as engine gasket leaks, or even sludge accumulation in an oil strainer under the engine. To know best, you can hook up your car on a OBD scanner and look for sensors in the oil pressure and oil pressure control solenoid. Sometimes, the solenoid cannot fire because it's digitally controlled and dependent on the correct oil pressure to activate the release valve when you remove the foot from the gas pedal, resulting in errors like this. Firstly, the pressure itself at idle should be normal as well as at particular RPMs. Hope this helps.
Hmm, I got one where the needle will sometimes fall to zero for about a second and then back to normal. Usually does it on a blue moon (don’t drive it a lot now). On my car it should be an on and off type of deal. So my assumption is, it’s going bad? I’ve had the engine rebuilt so I would think it’s the actual pump as it should be a new unit.
My oil pressure gage is sticking at around 20 sometimes 0. Just had a lot of work done some by mechanic some by me after my car broke down on the highway. New fuel filter & pump, all new spark plugs & wires, distributer, starter, thermostat.. I think that's all 😅 The coolant gage sometimes bounces still but I push on brakes and it goes down pretty fast. It doesn't seem to be overheating because the level hasn't gone down again. The oil pressure was fine before this..
Can it also be the cause of a "kangaroo behaviour" ? You press pedal and the car slightly jumps, like a one time jerk ? My car behaves this way - both when i press the pedal and depress.
I have the E350 bus with the 7.3. I changed the ICP sensor and it would still die after going about 40. Should I change the IPR valve? What else should I look for, thanks man. Great video
My question is that I get the low oil pressure when the weather is cold at 55 degress and not at hot or warm days. Can it be my sensor or is something else??
My 2004.5 LLY Chevy 2500 duramax just started throwing a low oil pressure warning and won’t stop chiming. I drove the truck for an hour without anything happening to the truck so I’m guessing the truck is getting oil pressure but the cluster or sensor is gone. Wouldn’t the truck start knocking or lose performance after an hour of driving with zero oil pressure ?
Hi i just turn my key on before i start it .shoud all gages work like oil pressure gage or does oil pressue gage only show when the engine is turn on.Ty.
I Just Bought one used 2008 grand vitara v6 2.7 lts. They reap me off Now i m dealing with it Anyways The engine starts on time (No hesitation at all) Temperature looks good after an hour of driving Runs pretty good on flat surfaces...except hills My problem is that - the scanner plug doesn't work. (Can't read any codes) - I Just found that they disconnect the oil sensor or knock sensor - It looses power after warmed up going up a hill. - it makes a rattling noise by the driver side of the engine. I m fixing to run all types of tests .... Oil pressure , engine pressure (compression) Any other suggestions Thanks for your advices
I got a 2016 Hyundai Tucson with oil light flickering, checked oil and it’s good, I replaced the oil pressure switch with a dealer one. So it has new switch and oil level is full but oil light keeps flickering. What can it be? Thanks in advance 🙏🏼
Any suggestions on what i can do to get rid of my rocker arm/lifters from clicking when going above 2000rpm? My mechanic said there was no damage internally but the there are a whole crap of sludge. And to use seafoam prior to doing oil changes (every 1,000 miles) and hopefully it goes away.
Question? I have a 2005 Honda odyssey EXL and I get the code B1175 50 and I looked it up and said it’s not ready the sending unit but it’s reading fuel, any clue? Thanks!!
have a tick on my 04 envoy 4.2 when cold and getting worse, no lifters so can't see what it could be, changed oil and filter 2,000 miles ago but it was not doing it then.
I have a 2001 mercury grand marquis and the oil light comes on most times lately when i stepped on the brake pedal before and after i got a oil change and the brake fluid is clean & full, Is this my problem??

My car jumps like it wants to stall no check engine lights and I just got it back from the shop didn't really want to take it back to said shop cuz if they didn't fix the issue why would I take it back and let them charge me again not to fix the problem but just didn't know what to do any info would help but acts like bad fuel or faulty fuel pump please help
Just got my engine swapped on my Denali and I drove it for like hour drove good and saw the oil pressure didn't not go up .... The my concerned and oil light didn't not come on
I'm replacing the oil sensor in my car and I want to know if I need to disconnect the battery since it is electrical or can I just change it without doing that step?? Thanks
Is it a fuse or relay for the VTEC oil solenoid I’m not sure the name of it, it plugs into the top of the VTEc oil solenoid, not the oil sensor that plugs into the side of the vtec I’m referring to the one that plugs into the top of the oil so annoyed
My zr2 s10 has 329K miles and it showed 0 psi out of nowhere and turned off while I was driving, but it has done it a few days at a time, does this mean the sensor has finally given up, or has the switch given up?
My 5.7 ram has normal oil pressure then an alarm and red light and guage falls flat. Cut it off, crank back immediately and perfect pressure till it does it again.. any ideas? Many Blessings, Kev
Hi guys my oil pressure light comes on but i have no leaks and my car drives normal but i did throw a little bit over the max line,so can the overthrow coz that light to come on

Having some problem gave me a low oil pressure code while driving so I added some oil then drove a Lil bit then it came back on low oil pressure was keep flickering with the red oil symbol what u think
Can the ac pressure sencor be the reason of my car overheating. I got a 1992 buick riviera 3.8 6 Cyl my pressure switch ac leaks were i connect the plug on to and my car overheats
Check the your engine temperature sensor or ETC that’s the culprit if the radiator and everything else is good usual place is near thermostats or side of engine block
