My 1.9 does the same thing when hot, other than it idles doesn’t hunt like yours just low idle speed , when the idle speed increases to 800 rpm it revs again. If you’re on a hill you can start the engine then roll it downhill to increase revs and it will rev. Very common fault and you have exhausted all the options I have also tried to fix it.

Gearbox sensor in the 5 speed is different to the 4 speed. Might explain the random ABS reading as I'm sure it doubles as a speed sensor on one or the other boxes. Since the problem has only happened since the box swap my money would be on that maybe? Not sure how you test that, might be as simple as just swapping the sensors. If they fit 🤔

Already done that. The pk5 (5speed) and pk6 (6speed) boxes are identical in casings mountings spline size sensor position etc. I have also tried both the 5 speed and 6 speed sensors in it no joy. It did run and drive when left after box swap but then went for a turbo drain pipe somewhere else then when owner went to collect we had this issue…the owner is firing the parts cannon at it at this point which I obviously don’t advise but this evening we have had a conversation wondering whether it is an issue with the box being somehow incompatible.

No worries. Scratching my head with this one now fella. Best of luck with it. I'll carry on asking round 👍👍

@@geimfarinn cheers really do appreciate the help. It’s looking like the owner has convinced himself that it’s something to do with the 6 speed gearbox conversion . Which I doubt for two reasons…1 all my measurements with my micrometer etc came back the same that’s sensor positions the lot , and 2nd is the pk5 and pk6 gearboxes are exactly the same in everyway except gear count I’ve used a multitude of old and new sensors etc and none has made a difference. Weird that only code I’m getting relates to abs module not getting a signal….long and short of it I think he’s going to tell me today whip the 6 speed out to put the broken 5 speed (no second gear) and hope it miraculously fixes what I’m thinking is most likely an electrical issue. I’m no auto electrician and have massive difficulty understanding wiring diagrams . I can do basic fault finding in electrical systems or fit you a banging sound system but diagnosing ecu related wiring etc way out my league

Thanks for the reply. Cleaned maf sensor today using contact cleaner and a soft toothbrush and very delicately cleaned . Didn’t help at all …even if I unplugged the maf it still wouldn’t rev and as a rule usually you unplug maf and ecu goes into a default setting and will work but use more fuel. No joy with this one. So I’m assuming maf is good and it’s something else. But still martin (the owner) is off to get a maf a map and a boost solenoid this morning so we can fire the parts cannon at it. Which I don’t advise anyone does, but bar taking it to an auto electrician I’m all of ideas

Requires a siemans maf sensor, the old vivaro suffers same issue. Will rev very slowly unplugged by default if unplugged though. New maf fixed this issue on mine anyway, but also I have an existing bypassed map and boost control valve done by prior owners.

@@expresslockscardiff nah tried everything with this old girl in the end it was an issue With the 6 speed conversion. She has her old 5 speed bk in well it’s a 4 speed since it has no 2nd gear lol and she’s running spot on again. Brucey bonus in all the messing about trying to fix this I’ve inadvertently fixed the only starting with easy start issue lol …don’t ask me how but it now starts on the button. The owner bought it starting on easy start and has been running it for around a year like it lol
