I did one of these this week and thanks to your video, it showed me that it can be done without lowering or removing the subframe (as opposed to many other guides). The gearbox was bloody heavy though, and you made it look light! Thank you for taking the time to upload these videos and also for thinking about your camera placement so people can actually see what you are doing.
It was a few months ago that I did it but it took me most of the day so approx 6hrs. It's the weight of the box and the small gap to get it in and out that was tricky.
I fully anticipate that these videos will eventually make their way onto DVD,,,,,these are the Gold Standard of how to change clutches and are as good as if not better any Haynes manual ,,,,A1 all round
You're a superman at your job. They way you lift this beast of a gearbox with your hands and belly is a piece of art on its own. Hats off to you and your work.... You're a genius mate. You make this job look like a piece of cake while we all know it's not that easy. Thank you for the uploads too... Brilliant filming! You're perfect in all you do. Keep it up!
Av been a mechanic for 42 years and still going , me personally I would have spent another 15 mins taking the rest of the front off for easier access just done my own van swing radiator remove front crossmember so much easier , but each to his own
What a ball ache of a job to do a clutch on a Vivaro. Dreading doing this one . Your video will be saved and I will study it for the next few weeks definitely need to especially the amount of stuff has to be undone. Thank you for taking your time to post these quality videos and the extra time it takes because you are recording the job for us viewers and subscribers. Much appreciated. top bloke excellent work and very helpful video 👏💪👊
Thankyou for taking the time to make this video, I'm a painter by trade and have never even done my own brakes before. This weekend I successfully changed my clutch thanks to your vid. You've saved me a few quid! I owe you a pint!
Just want to thank you for a great video, used it to change my clutch and slave cylinder on my own Vivaro this week. Surprised a few people with the fact I has completed at the side road, all this was done with the help for your video. Thanks again really appreciate it.
Took me two days, fair play putting that box in by hand. I got mine out by hand and it pinned me to the floor! Luckily neighbour steered the trolley jack to get it in. Doing that in one day is a real measure of your skills. Thankyou
I like your videos and it helped me change a clutch on a Renault master. Didn't want a baby elephant on my chest so l used a jack and and braced a 2x4 across the inner wings and it worked quite well. Thanks for your efforts.
Top job. When I do them vans I leave all the bits on the shut plate even the intercooler and strap them to the bonnet and in turn tie the bonnet to a roof rack or even the back doors . Your strong mate as I use a over head winch to move the gearbox around while I guide it underneath with the remote in my hand . Still hard work on your own . Your a skilled man
You made them driveshaft removals look like kids play, never comes apart so easy for me, although as a Vivaro owner I am quite an expert at the front end strip down as it all needs to come off to do just about any job. Great camera work as well as the tools.👍
Absolutely awesome you make it look so easy I've changed clutches on my drive where I was younger I'm now 63 and got arthritis in my wrists and thumbs. Can't do it now I've got so much respect for you for making it look easy great video again
@@WMCS Cheer's Kevin for the reply yes keeping well Hope you are too. I still do my own service work insignia vx line automatic 37000 so far it's due a gearbox oil Chang. Cheer's Kevin
Fantastic video, a great help, and so good that it shows the reassembly. Yes, trying to man handle the gearbox back up was tricky, but the hardest bit for me was removing and refitting that black plastic cable trunking 😆Many, many thanks 👍
I am from Iraq and I follow you continuously..I am very impressed with your work..You are a wonderful man..I learned a lot from you..but more moments that frighten me when the gearbox comes down to your stomach I fear you you will be harmed ... but you are very adept as you work this hard work On your own, you also have trouble shooting .. Thank you very much
Did another one on my back today thanks to your video One very heavy gearbox to say the least! One thing I tried today that sped the job up was rather than undo the bottom ball joint nut, just undo both shock Absorber nut and bolts and that allows the driveshaft to come out of the hub without removing any lower suspension components saved a bit more time, love your video's and you must be strong as Eddie Hall to handle the gearboxes the way you do! I've done two on my back and loads on the ramp and they don't get any lighter 🤣
Thanks for sharing Sinan… new ways always comes when you’re doing it .. great you’ve found a quicker way to pull the driveshaft out .. you’re absolutely right they don’t get any lighter those gearboxes
I just watched closely when he actually lifts the gearbox down and he doesn't even seem to grimace from the effort. I'll get my lad to help me with mine I think :)
I just want to say thank you for uploading this, I watched this video on repeat and learnt how to change the clutch on my 2011 Vivaro... You really made that gearbox look lighter than it is, I struggled! deffo need to get down the gym 😀
Would you believe I've had it off again since this comment...lost 5/6 gears, bloody synchro spring decided to break apart and jam itself up... I have successfully managed to rebuild my gearbox, new 1/2, 5/6 synchro rings and springs...an absolutely terrifying job for a DIY@@WMCS
We folks done my van last week. New clutch kit fitted also had the gearbox refurbished too. I did have a problem with connecting the clutch fuild pipe back on it keeped leak there is a small rubber grommet seal that goes on to the connector and got one on ebay. But part for that went well. It did cost me around £1000 to do my self new cluch kit and the gearbox refurbishment cost £575. Also I had to buy a engine lift to get the gearbox back on as I could not lift it was so heavy. Good luck folks.
One of the most phantastic video clips i recently saw! Wow, and without the special lifting equipment of the garage that does it only from beneath. This is a great, super great video! i would call you for any repair, so much trust this spreads in your mechanical skills!! +je
Hi Kevin took my gearbox out today for new clutch and slave cylinder putting back together tomorrow it was the slave cylinder that failed so doing the two. your video is brilliant great help us to work on cars all the time but it’s been awhile since I work on a car or van
hats off for you.great Job.good video quality.smart and cool working techniques.keep the good work, though I have done often before I enjoyed your video.big BRAVO
excellent video Kevin and i agree with everyone else you made it look very easy, but also very daunting , with the amount of stuff that had to be removed. You also made lifting that gearbox off and back up, look so easy. it weighs a ton :D anyway thanks to you and this video , you made a very daunting task that was a lot easier, but it still took me all day. Last clutch i changed was on a mini cooper back in the 80's :D Thanks again
Martin thanks for a detailed review ..,, I suppose it’s taken me hours and hours of continuously beating on my craft to get to this stage ...,, it’s hard work but it’s what I do every single day ..,, I work alone and travel far.., up to two hours drive one way ..,, I prepare myself always physically.. Good vitamins and minerals and essential oil. a healthy diet and plenty of rest ..,, especially come winter time .,,, I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to share on our forum.
You can do them without taking all the front off on a ramp but struggle on the deck I have done exactly the same thing a few times. Dedication mate great job 👍🏻
@@WMCS Haha i know awesome! Went really well i knew were all the bolts were after watching your video thanks😅👌 was in for a recon gearbox still fit new clutch kit tho . Told my mate in work if he knows hes got a clutch to do to watch you the king of clutches 👍👌
Complimenti per il mestiere che conosco bene anchii ne ho fatte tante di frizioni a quel modo e conosco la fatica fisica di tirare giu un cambio senza sollevatore 👍👍💪
The last 2 I've done of these required me to re-use the CSC pipework as the supplied pipes from LUK were a different angle, I simply swapped the new "o" rings over onto the old pipework... Also I'm still in two minds on if moving the radiator or the subframe gives additional clearance ( i don't lift the boxes in like you 🙂)...Ive also ditched my pressure bleeder for these jobs as I found it actually made bleeding worse...good Vid!
Wow! The length of this video says enuff! Changing the clutch - 10 mins, getting to the clutch - about 2 hours. Would have been nice to see the state of that clutch when it came off cos it looked proper dead! As usual, awesome vid....shame weather was pants for you tho!
😂🤭.., I even try to compress the editing .., weather was a bit shaky at first. But held up nice over all ... Ooo clutch was literally on metal. There was nothing left ..
The Clutch Ninja......at it again. I found the Picasso of interest the other day only as I have one. Good work bro. If I ever need a clutch done on mine in Southend On Sea Ill give you a shout for a quote..
@@WMCS Wow. You must be good with lifting as they are heavy old things the clutch housing etc....hop you went down the front afterwards and got some chips
Superb video as always dude!! I’m a HGV tech going on 10 years now. I’d love to see how quick you could do a truck clutch 😂 there isn’t as much in the way 😂
If it didnt come in for it then you dont do it... you get no thanks for it apart from moaned at when bills higher....do the job in hand and advise further repairs on invoice 😉
Thanks for the great feedback and support. Really appreciate it. A face mask is very important for the dust. The clutch we have here doesn’t contain asbestos. But nonetheless the dust isn’t good for the lungs.
Thanks for this video it's a great help to me, mind I'm changing my engine as well, it's a hard slog, I'm 69year old man, 10years ago no problems but today it's took me almost 3weeks😂🤣😅🤣🤣😂🤣 good job I'm retired, anyway thank you 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
bought a Vauxhall vivaro 08 about 3 months ago to convert into a campervan.so I got this van and it was basically setup campervan wise in the back with switchboard for electricity and leisure battery etc plus it was insulated aswel and had a carpet finish I thought I was onto good ting here the van was absolutely spotless regarding it's body work but of course their are hiding gremlins as per usual.so heading to my mam one day the lights start flashing on the dashboard stop stop 🛑 .went to garage I was told the injectors were knackered.got two new injectors same ting happened.he then told me tht the injectors were seized in the head the other two injectors?I said why didn't you tell me tht at the start ? no answer .anyways it was cost to much money to get new injectors and for him to take seized injectors out.got reconditioned engine with four new injectors it worked out cheaper.light still came on after installing new reconditioned engine.so I went back to my garden took out the air intake box and also took off the cover tht was covering the injectors and low and behold one of the injectors was pissing diesel out of it .he basically took old injector out of my old engine without o ring and put into new engine.so I said this to him and he just said no no no leak 😂😂😂 but what he didn't no was I took serial numbers of both injectors he took out of old engine and wrote them down.so he showed me injector and Said this is your problem.i looked at him and said thts the old injector from old engine he said no no no it's not .I then showed him the number off the injector and he then said ahhh must be different injector with same serial number 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 absolute cowboy caught by the balls .as I was saying regarding yourself.you can see you love your job and you don't try and take advantage of people.keep the good work up pal.my van is now in getting a reconditioned gearbox from a new mechanic thankgod .she will be like a new van after everything I've done to her🤣🤣🤣🤣
