My Vauxhall Vivaro Campervan Conversion is coming along. Many conversions use this 4 way stretch carpet. In this van build I am not going to use a lot of it as I want some of the panels to have a decorative whitewash look to them. In this step by step guide to how I converted my LWB Vauxhall Vivaro Campervan, I will cover every step of the build in detail. So the stretch carpet goes on and the panelling begins.

When I did my Vivaro, I smoothed the creases out with a car windshield ice scraper I got as a gift from Kiravans. I’m disabled and only have one arm, the reason I’m saying this is I’ve just laughed at the comment before, I really did do mine single handed. Hahahhaa. Lovely job you’ve done. The seagulls sound like they have a Mabletherpe accent, hahaha am I wrong.

Hi Roly, That's a good idea. That was the first time I'd done any stretch carpeting. I'll definitely get an ice scraper and try it. I'm a bit further up than Mablethorpe, I'm up in the North East. Thanks for watching.

My knees got sore just watching 🤣 Great job. Not one I'd look forward to, between that and the vapour barrier would be my downfall, without any fair chance of recovery 😆

I invested in some knee pads after doing that one. Thanks for watching.

@@dave-watson A must those knee pads Dave! Hey! Your thoughts Dave. I'm interested in doing a SWB Vivaro with a similar layout to the Ford Transit Connect you refitted. My vans High ceiling steals too much heat and has almost no insulation for cold weather (Talbot Express factory fitted) I'd rather sell than modify it. The diesel heater uses too much battery juice. In your humble opinion would a SWB be adequate for one average size bloke for up to a fortnight away or do you think a LWB is the way to go...Most of my van remains empty when away, two Tesco bags worth of gear does me for 3 weeks apart from food and water. Your opinion will be very much appreciated Dave. PS. I'm also taking into consideration parking and Ferry prices as I live across the pond.

@@pa_maj.MARTINI-van-MAN The first conversion I did was a SWB Vivaro but since then I've gone for the LWB there is only about 40cm in it but it makes a lot of difference in a small van. And if you wanted to add more stuff in the future....a fridge etc the LWB will give you the room to do it. I'd go LWB.

@@dave-watson I'll have to give it some more consideration by the looks of things then Dave. Better with a little extra space than not having enough, makes sense.

Hi Dave, really loving the videos on the camper build. Gotta take my hat off to you for doing that carpeting single handed, I would’ve ended up rolled up in it. I’m thinking about doing a conversion myself and have found the videos a great place for ideas and tips.

Thanks James, slow and steady is the way with the carpet. Doing a van conversion is a great project to do and when you do one I hope the videos will be helpful. Thanks for watching.

Great video top tip always buy the carpet lining In one go I run out by a couple of meters and it took 3 attempts to get the same colour match most frustrating ....

Thanks Pip, Yes always best to get the carpet on in one continuous piece although it is a bit fiddly to get it started along the top. Thanks for watching.

Very helpful video. Thanks. This will be a job for next week. You can't get behind the panels (easily) if you want to add some extra cabling though. I was thinking of carpeting the piller areas, then carpeting the panels and then screwing the panels on?
@dave-watson
@dave-watson Год назад
Yeah you could do that and then use those screw caps to cover the head of the screws. But I put most of the cable work outside the panels in a conduit. Good luck with the panels and carpeting.

Hi mate i was wondering if you can help I've just fitted 10mm insulation to the floor then 9mm ply in my vivaro now it stand true of the black plastic bit that runs along the floor at the back doors did you come across this and if so what did you do !! Thank you in advance
@dave-watson
@dave-watson 2 года назад
I took the black plastic bit off and used it as a template and cut the floor wood to shape. The first video in this series shows how I did this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wO8xdg3Vq5U.html it's about 14mins in. Hope that helps.
