Don't know why anyone would thumbs down this! You've had the decency to share your experience with us and done it very well, if I may say so! Thanks Jon, much appreciated!
Mo Gordon yeah! God forbid anyone have a thought of _their_ own when listening to stilted narration. *i gave a thumbs* down because of the awful “hi, you may remember me me from ....” style of narrator. Because of spending way too long showing the outside of the box. Because of the “it’s been a week” jump in editing.... because showing how to assemble the unit would have been a plus. There was no demonstration of how to use it either! So, you carry on being flummoxed as to why “anyone would thumbs down” 🥴🤦♀️🥴🤦♀️🥴
Tried it on deep clean and you use that much water you cannot get the water out of the carpet so i have used my old machine to remove the water. Remember Vax is not Vax it's Hoover and there shit
probably because he is not showing the truth. He is cleaning a clean carpet, and this does not show how fast the water really runs out and how long it lasts after filling the tank once. This film looks like an ordinary product advertisement. It's like a commercial for anti-wrinkle creams starring women in their 20s.
I have just got this after my daughter and friends had been using it.. I moved into a house that had a terrible stain.. water was black and stain had gone but like you carpet stayed wet longer than what I thought so was worried but after watching this felt better.. this film really helped.. thank you .
I have just bought this same model, I’m impressed with it. I too have the same silver grey carpet as you so buying a washer was essential to keep my new carpet looking its best. I only cleaned my large rug so far but got an amazing amount of dirt out! ☕️ my waste water looked like espresso.
Thank you for taking the time to do this Jon. I have woken up this morning with a bit of trepidation as I promised myself I would clean the dining room carpet after having had 16 for Christmas dinner, including an 18 month old who hasn't quite mastered his fork and spoon! After watching your very comprehensive video I'm now feeling confident to tackle it. Bless you!
Great review, buying one to replace and ageing cleaner I’ve got. Just a slight correction though - the two modes you switch between are for cleaning and rinsing, not deep clean vs regular clean. Clean uses a mix of water and cleaning solution, rinse just uses water. The idea being you clean first, then go over again with plain water to, well, rinse the carpet and remove any excess cleaning solution left behind.
@@deedlit67 Yes, but the rinse mode isn't _optional_ is what I believe the OP is saying. The video creator appears to have conflated the two cleaning modes with the two speed modes!
I love the This unit. So satisfying seeing the dirt coming out the carpets. It also gets up pet hair thats embedded in the carpets. Well worth the money. Smells so much better.
Hi Jon... just watched your video after having used the Vax Platinum for the first time. Great honest review, and like you I have never used a carpet cleaner before. Only used it on one carpet so far with great results. Going to tackle the stairs next! Just one downside for me was having to use a screwdriver to remove the Brushbar for cleaning, and I couldn’t get the Spinbar Brush to pull off, I was worried it may break, and my fingers are little too fat to get right into the small space to add leverage, but with a bit of poking and pulling I was able to remove any debri. Also there is still a small amount of water trapped in the ‘mixing’ chamber of the Clean Water tank, no instructions of how to drain it on Vax User Guide... but apart from that a really great carpet cleaner. And thanks again for your video, very well put together !
Hi Jon, used it today for first time we’ve got two dog’s and two Parrots so downstairs carpets were looking a bit grubby, worked really well very happy with results, The free steam mop was also useful for kitchen and bathroom floors but we’ll need to invest in a few more mop heads, they are washable but I’d prefer different colours then we can keep kitchen and bathroom mops separate, thanks for your review, also paid around the £250 mark so good cleaner for the price
Thanks for the review and instructions. I purchase one a few months back but have just had to chance to have a go while the family are away and the house empty. Wow I thought my carpet was reasonably clean! The amount of dirty water that comes out is amazing and even lifted some old stains. Carpets looking fresh and clean again!
Thanks for this review. Getting one delivered tomorrow hopefully which cost me £199 with a free steam cleaner so it is currently a great price. I’ve never used a carpet cleaner / washer like Vax before but needs must and your review has given me the confidence I will be able to do so. Thanks once again, a big thumbs up from me 👍🏻
We bought one a few months ago, And I used it on my mother's rug that looked it had bald patches on it. after I was finished it looked perfect no bald patches at all!!!
If you don’t mind me asking but how do you clean the clear plastic bit at the front that sucks up the water. I have removed it to try clean it but there is a thin gap where there is some dirt that I can’t get to clean it. Any ideas?
I have just used one of these and as we have dogs dog hairs have got in the said clear plastic bit, I looked on the customer help line and you need a cross head screw driver the scrub unit pulls out and then you can unscrew the belt cover, then the end caps of the roller unscrew this allows the roller to be removed, the plastic cover can now be cleaned, roller and scrubber can be washed out, the front plastic bit unclips by lifting the grey leaver above this can then be flushed out, the hole thing can then be put back together.
Hi Jon and thanks for your excellent, detailed and very comprehensive review of this vax cleaner. I have been considering buying this for some time now and your review has made the final decision for me. Am off to Currys to collect one later today! Thanks again, Adam.
Really useful and honest review, thanks 😃 I’ve seen the tv ads recently too and so I wanted to check out some reviews first before purchasing. We’re going to go and buy one now 👍🏻
Excellent review. Was contemplating whether to replace my old Vax cleaner, which has given excellent service over the last 10+ years. with the Paltinum.
nice review cheers Jon, my 17 year old Rug Dr has finally given up the ghost ( second motor blown £130 to replace)so I was looking into replacing it this looks like a great option.
Great review, iv orderd this cleaner I no now what to expect with my own carpets, I was quite nervous spending allot of money on a cleaner for it not to be as good as it comes across on the vax advertisements, I'm really looking forward to mine arriving on Friday,
I used mine for the first time today .they came up ok. But once I turned it off to tackle the stairs, there was water coming out from underneath. Got in touch with Vax, explained what was wrong. I just kept going over the same questions very frustrating. I looked at other reviews, and this seems to be a common fault. I would never have bought it if I'd gad known.😢😢
Thank you Jon, I found this review helpful, I am considering purchasing this model but have been slightly reluctant to buy any cleaner, previously switching to hiring a rug doctor having owned but not liking the old style orange cylinder round one which I found cumbersome and not that effective at cleaning.
Nice video, Was looking at this on TV this morning. I think I will get one at some point. I already have the large round Orange Vax, but that will be reused in my shed as a big hoover and for also as a pump for unblocking drains and stuff.
Thanks Jon, I just bought one of these and was very pleased with it. I have previously hired Rug Doctors and found this a lot easier to use. I think the one hour drying time is a bit optimistic but perhaps I am over enthusiastic with the trigger. However I do have an Ebac dehumidifier which obviously helps speed up the drying process.
@@testedbyjon Thanks Jon: Great instructions. I used to have a Bex Bissel machine which I had for many years and it was fantastic with great suction power but it has given up the ghost now and I have bought a Vax Platinum Power Max and plan to give it a go today.
Hi the front get’s very trapped with dirt and pile seem’s theirs no easy way to clean machine without stripping it down got as far as belt then couldn’t figure out what to do, damp cloth not sufficient need advice please
Great review, thankyou. It's made my mind up to buy this now. Any idea on what detergents or spot ons I need for bad stains from spillage and dogs muddy feet stains please?
The video is fine but the product is rubbish, the motor failed on mine at just over 12 months was used about 3 times for standard front room so no time used really, Vax say the product was not registered in time to receive the extended warranty.
I read so many good reviews, and I'm sad because I didn't get the expected result. The dust stays on the brushes and I don't know how to clean them. What am I doing wrong? I waited so long to see how to clean the carpet and all I get is more dust.
It actually looks pretty good, but I've actually bought the Vax ECJ1PAV1 . I'm wondering if I should have bought this instead. I'll see when I actually get it sent to me.
I've had 2 and both belts have burnt out causing smoke from the back, vax don't care because its 2 years old and out of warranty,I have a new one with vaxs 6 year warranty and I'll be using that warranty if there's even the slightest issue....
Reassuring to observe how you went about cleaning the carpets. However, there is no indication of how much 4ml is. After cleaning a small space which was soiled there was little residue water even though I rinsed properly. The carpets also felt too dry after supposedly cleaning them. I suppose it is just trial and error.
It's 40 millilitres per I litre of water, a typo maybe. A measuring cup is the answer. I keep the water lever supressed until I think enough solution has come through.
I have just had this machine as a replacement for my Vax Dual which I add what amazing! I am finding that with the Power Max, water used to clean, the out put.... is far more than the water that is being sucked up from the carpets and being collected in the dirty tank? After ringing Vax Customer Service they advised that you will only get about a third of the output back in the water collection tank??? Has anyone experienced the same? I have checked and checked all the connections etc and there is noting a miss.... any input would be appreciated x
Used it for the first time today and despite going over quite a few times, it didn't apparently draw more water out as a result. Did you end up working out a different way to draw more water back in?
Any issue in removing the tools ? I’ve found it really difficult to remove them when clicked into position. Eventually tab broke off the spin scrub stair attachment
5:33 Sorry, what?! _"I plan to use the rinse option in future. That's the mode that basically allows the carpet to dry in just one hour but in my particular instance there was no point doing the rinse action."_ Do you not rinse your clothes after washing them - or your washing-up?! You appear to have fundamentally misunderstood, how this machine works! *_Everyone_** should be using the rinse action every time;* it has absolutely nothing to do with the 'dry in one hour' option which is a separate button entirely. I think you've conflated the rinse and wash modes with the 'deep clean' and 'quick clean' button right at the base of the unit.
Sorry for the slow reply. Still using. Not used all that often but I feel I have gotten value from it. Family have borrowed etc. I did have to replace the spin bar as the fixings on that broke. Cost about £15. Probably in future I would just get a professional in. But that is more me being lazy and not wanting to do the job.
@@testedbyjon no worries & that's brilliant,i'm the same i'm not going to use it that much but i just want something reliable & thanks for replying mate i appreciate it.
I wish I could show before and after pictures. My bedroom carpet was terrible. Now we have a clean carpet again. Worth the money definitely. They didn't have the one I wanted in stock I did have to pay the extra 60 pounds but gosh I'm glad I did. Asthmatic also, cleaning solution made me feel a bit wheezy but nothing an inhaler sorted. Brilliant guys deffo buy :) the middle spinner was broken and they replaced it all with a brand new washer :)
This is the worst carpet cleaner I’ve ever owned. I bought it to replace a v124 which was fantastic. One problem with this machine is the fact there is not enough weight in the bottom so it doesnt pull out as much water as my old one. I end up putting a weight on it from my partners dumbbell set. The hard floor attachment would be good if the machine sprayed water out the whole width of the head but it doesn’t. Says to use quick wash mode for hard floor cleaning. The rotating brush roll gets clogged up with fluff and hair the spin scrub brushes are better. I really don’t rate this machine at all
It feels spongey under foot because the machine does not remove all the water. He has gone over it many times to gat the water out of the carpet and failed then the carpet starts to smell damp the machine is total shit believe me i tried it
This model is the worst carpet cleaner I’ve ever owned from. There is no weight in the bottom of the machine this means it doesn’t actually remove as much water as it should. Especially compared to my old Vax v124. There are better machines out there. Even the cheaper Vax rapid power plus. The quality of the clean is far superior and the waste water pick up is much better.
