VAXEE ZYGEN NP01-S thoughts and the 2:1 ratio for mouse size 

I set up a new camera and microphone for this because I agree, the last one wasn't good. So how about this? I know the ess sounds are a bit sharp at times, I did put a de-esser on there. Hopefully this ok now. I put some highlights at the end because people asked for them too. I'll start recording more while testing again. And I disabled mid-roll adverts because it annoys me to no end when videos stop to advertise something and I don't want to put you guys through it. Consider that my thank you to you for watching. 😘

the ratio only makes sense if all hands have a 2:1 ratio also but some people have really long fingers and slim palms

Really liked the review I just thought that maybe to two to one ratio applies more to some games then others For example CSGO only really relies upon side to side aim and small amounts of vertical aim while quake relies upon lots of side to side and vertical aim Love the new style! The video sounded great. Except for the scroll wheel though

I like the new format, and the new setup has much nicer bokeh than the Orochi vid. As many have already written, we get the adherence to 2:1 ratios but they really don't work for a lot of us, so the other shape notes, as well as the rest of the review as a whole, are much more useful and excellent as always. 2:1 ratios probably work great for 2:1 hands as yours is, but your early (years ago) advice that width matters more proved right for me and my 1.6:1 hands, and I do demonstrably better after a couple of weeks with the Orochi than I did previously with the G305 aim-wise. So for hands that stray from the 2:1 ratio, having the mouse ratio match the hand ratio is probably more critical -- which is also where the NP-01S review misses, because you don't lay your hand straight onto a mouse. Hands naturally curve, and so do mice, so linear length isn't as important as arc length in that scenario. Shorter-height mice with similar lengths feel *much* smaller in the hand than taller ones. That's why the FK played much better for me than the S despite being technically longer. I think Dmitri at HW Canucks mentioned getting recommendations from you previously and ending up preferring his selection anyway over time; from his hand dimensions I imagine he and I had similar experiences with the recs based on 2:1 ratios, so I think there is at least a bit of evidence out there that we commenters questioning the adherence to 2:1 based on our own experiences as well are entirely unfounded in our criticism of it. This is probably all tl;dr for most people including yourself; my apologies. Just an issue I've noticed myself many times in the past, and that I thought might be important when transitioning to a format where your views on shape are featured (and of course welcome) and where it would probably benefit everyone to take different experiences into account. My mouse "collection" doesn't even come close to rivaling yours, but it certainly seems it's obscenely large by the standards of the average gamer :) and the inadequacy of a 2:1 ratio for my hands has proven itself over time across dozens of mice.

You brought up a good point about the ratio. I personally wish they kept grip width near stock or somewhere in between, and then just reduced the hump height on the back

Scroll wheel is made specifically for gaming. You never use it in a way you showed in video in games. I use scroll wheel very heavily in both RTS and FPS games, and this is the best scroll wheel I've had so far for several reasons: 1. Most important, steps are very clear and defined, you become very precise with your scroll up/down keys and never activate them more than you wanted to. Also with 1 3 1 grip your middle finger won't mistakenly activate it in wrong direction if you rest it on a wheel or keep it close to it. 2. Middle mouse button is pretty easy to click (but not too easy to prevent accidental click), and because of reason #1, when you click mmb you won't accidentally activate up or down keys (I've had this issue on g900). 3. Wheel is separated from right/left clicks so you won't accidentally activate them when clicking mmb (I've had this issue on viper ultimate). Again, this is a mouse for competitive gaming, not browsing web sites. Saying that scroll wheel is bad just because you don't like the sound of it without any understanding of its practical application in games is silly. Plus I never hear the sound of zygen's scroll wheel when I'm gaming, because I never use it in a way you showed. That only happens when you are scrolling web pages, books, which is not relevant to gaming!

I feel like this new style of video feels way more personal and connected, and while there might have been more technical information about the mouse, I think this new style of video may actually work better. I would like to see the grip-width recommendation back but that's about all!

I've can agree with this to a point. You can make up for that 360 degree left to right movement by moving the sensor forward. The sensor looks centrally placed on this one, but it can be overcome. I've also found that weight balance is way more important than just weight. I have used way more mice that feel better in the 70g's and 80g's range that plain feel better and faster because they are balanced better than some 50-60g mice. Just saying.

Didn't RJN say he was done reviewing mice in his Starlight review or did I just imagine that?

Great video and continue the good work! just one thing sometimes things doesn't necessarily need to follow a rule, you talk about the 2 to 1 ratio and hands are different, while you maybe feel better with the NP01, one feels better with the S version. I was comparing my hand with a friend of mine and while both hands have the same length his was much wider

I didn't do well with this shape at first, but lately been aiming really well with it.

The shape is literally godlike. If they would make that mouse wireless and put a better mouse wheel in it... Probably the best mouse on the market. My opinion ofc

6:50 could you recommend me a mouse that doesn't have this issue? Preferably one for relaxed claw or palm grip. I have a DeathAdder V2 and I f'ing hate the size of those buttons. Huge! A friend recommended me Lamzu Thorn, but I'm unsure about how it's gonna fit in my hand, specially because of the price tag since my stupid country has a 100% import tax :(

Also tried this mouse and completely agree with the length problem. On the front the size is really good for my grip, but i have to grip it on the back because the mouse is too long, then again it's to wide for my grip D: ... So sad, because it's such a high quality product in every other aspect (except for the scrollwheel i guess). Just make smaller mice but keep the ratio ... (personally I'd even prefer 1:1.8 if they'd keep it narrow but cut the length, but that's for fingertip.)

I feel like the height vs. width thing is SERIOUSLY overthinking when the much more obvious answer is that the human hand is about 2x as long as it is wide.

Yo can anyone tell me how the np01s feels in hands compared with the GPW superlight? Im thinking about to purchase it since my GPW has inconsistent grip (the bump is in the middle for my fingertip/claw hybrid grip)

I aim like a laser with the MM720 and its ratio is much closer to 1:1 than 2:1.

2:1 has nothing to do with looking up and down vs sideways. What a strange thought :) If had 4:1 hands, mice would be roughly 4:1 if you rest your hand on them. For claw/fingertip, they can be very small and any ratio.

Vaxee / Zowie scroll wheels are great because you can't accidentally jump with them. That's the market.

It's a CSGO mouse where the length of the mice helps a lot in micro-flick shots.

I have yet to see the perfect mosue shape for me. I have 22cm to 11cm hands but I prefer shorter mice which is why I switched to a viper mini. The only problem is that its too narrow IMO. For me a perfect size and shape would be a mouse that is shorter but wider with more height.

i think on your tier list you have the sizes of these mixed up, the tier list says the np-01s is larger than the 01.

I don't understand why you claim this mouse doesn't seem to be the magical 2:1 ratio. It's about 59 at grip and 120 in length..... That's pretty damn close.

I used to love my chuncky brick i played with. Remember seeing your review back in the day and talking about smaller mice. I was like nah never... Now i can not have a small enough mice with preferebly no weight at all... What have i become... Ordering 500€ worh of mice to find some that i like.

That 2:1 ratio you came up with is way off man, and makes no sense whatsoever. The right side of the mouse has a lower effect with your aim than the left side. Having the thumb closer to the index finger is what makes the mouse feel more precise. The right side can bulge out for comfort especially needed for the pinky to keep your hand from squeezing inwards too much to get the needed stability which over time causes hand pain for most people. The comfort of the mouse mostly comes from the right side and the feeling of precision from the left. It's all psychological reasons certain shapes are easier to aim with for certain people. Think of aiming as pointing your finger at targets. It feels more precise and natural to have the thumb towards the index finger when pointing your finger. It's the same concept.

I hate the mouses that force the user to use a bungee. I will probably skip this product. I cannot tollerate a bad wire in 2020. As i skipped all the zowies due the idiot cable used after smashed an ec2b because the wire. 70 Eurs the mouse + 20 eurs the ship + 15 eurs the custom cable + 5 eurs the skate replace. This mouse is 110 eurs + invalidated warranty after the wire mod.

Shape is not for me but that's a preference. That said, mouse looks absolutely hideous. It gives me the cheap Dell mouse vibe. Given how good competitor designs look, it's really a letdown.
