oldmatelinc for those who dont know a throwdown is the smallest beer bottle size you can get 250ml, they still sell them but haven't seen one myself for around 10 years
Love a VB. Try a Reschs Pilsener from NSW. Btw, your question about a VB Pale Ale. VB did a mid strength and there was a VB 'ale' type beer as well. Neither lasted long..
Love one of these at a Melbourne pub now and then but I never buy it at the bottle-o because I only buy 6 packs at Dan Murphy for $12.00. There is a range of beers there on special each week and at $2.00/beer when buying only six, you cannot go wrong! I leave the VB for when walking past a pub for a quick smash at lunch time :-)
I had that many terrible hangovers in the early days 19-20 years old from VB I just can’t bring myself to drink it again! This review must just get me over the line for a re taste That poem at the end is gold 😂🙌
One of the reasons why VB has so many hangovers is it is a higher percentage in alcohol if you don't rehydrate while drinking it your brain will get stressed from a lack of water supply and therefore cause a headache.
@@432htz3 Eh, it tastes like any other standard decent quality beer. Saying its a shit beer is nothing more than brand bias. VB's, crownies, Cascade's and so on are all fairly similar. You could summarise and say all beers taste like shit if you reckon Vb's do.
Hi greg. Absolutely love your videos. I used to be able to buy VB in England at my local aussy themed bar. Unfortunately it has closed down 😭 cheers for the vids looking forward to the next Richard
This is weird, I was subscribed to Greg years ago, back when it was hotdogs and butter... Found this video and realised I'd been unsubscribed! My uncle moved to Aus with his family and when he'd come back (first time was about 10 years after), I bought a few crates of this while he was back. I'm in the UK. Since then I get a crate every so often, like every other year because it's no longer sold in Tesco. For what it is, I like it. Funny about the cans vs bottles, it was cans I got last time but I prefer drinking from a bottle, when it's a brown stubby. Something about a warm weather and drinking a stubby in the garden just works.
Hey grego The VB that you drink in Queensland is actually made in Queensland just down the road from you at Yatala. There has already been a VB Pale Ale and it didn't sell so was recalled about 10 years ago Xxxx gold is the number one beer by the amount of litres sold. But VB is the biggest selling in terms of dollars. Having said that the way Great Northern is travelling they should take them both over sometime next year.
Lovely drop. Im in UK and i found an importer who sells VB and loads of others too. Wish i could get longies here, but they only sell stubbies in 6 pack or a slab. Now i can get Aussie beer, i never touch the local shit here now, If i can't get Aussie brewed beer then i go sober until i can. A hard earned thurst needs a BIG cold beer, and the best cold beer is Vic. Victoria Bitter
Simstream: They used to sell VB here in Tesco’s just a few years ago. I am not sure why they stopped selling them in the UK supermarkets as it’s miles better than the local piss water.
Awesome Beer, Drank many when younger. You definitely need a litre of water and 2 panodol, before going to bed, after a BIG night. An a MUST have breakfast of Bacon an fried eggs in the morning. 😁
A few years ack they dropped the alcohol % down to 4.5 (i think). there was such an uproar and sales drop that they quickly put it back up to 4.9%. I do seem to remember years ago that it was 5.0% I used to drink VB often years back but now I home brew and it is so much better the commercial stuff.
They even took out full page ads in the major papers apologising to their drinkers. It was because of the alcohol tax. You cannot beat an ice cold one on a hot day.
To me VB is a very bitter beer that needs a lot of time to warm up with, if you like European or American beers it may not be your favorite, but the Aussies love it and there's definitely a reason for that
Oh dear, the dis-service GregO just did to his body lol. VB is only good for understanding how low a beer to get, always need a base to measure good beer upon
