I Have the Wiha digital torque screwdriver wich is being callibrated every year. Just like torque wrenches, the right amount of torque applied to a screw or bolt is hard to get right when guessing. Much of the time connections get over-tightened. I wresteld with nuts and bolts on electrical systems; it took 2 guys to unscrew a M12 connection on a 1600A load breaking switch with ratchets and wrenches.. Now this takes the guessing out of the work, and helps to reduce the chance of material failure caused bij stress.

Great video mark I have digital torque socket and wrench drivers I used for my carbon bikes the Topeak brand is excellent for them. It’s a brand those outside the bicycle community won’t really have heard of but they are just excellent. The PBswiss digitorque Vo2 is also excellent again used by pro bike teams. They have VDE normal screw drivers as well. I have the wiha speed E 1 and 2 drivers both are excellent and I have the torque adaptors for them. The only reason I did not get the wiha digital torque driver is because it’s not fully insulated at some point Wiha will do that. Here in the USA we also have torque setting requirements for socket connections not sure that’s also in the UK 18th edition. But given loose connections are an issue it’s something to consider however point compression at the bottom of a screw thread is less reliable than compression across the entire screw head at the top. Which is another reason why we still have exposed screw heads on the sides of our sockets here. Often we use things like the ideal insulating wrap bands to address that issue (or some use listed electrician tape to wrap around as a cheaper fix).

Good vid i personally prefer the wiha as it has a good range and thin blades but do find the ends do drop out if left in the tool bag, i have the armeg full set but really on use the t-bar for the 3.5 hex as they are not slim they don't fit some side by side RCBO terminals

Another great video! Wera actually do two different torque handles one goes 1.2-3Nm and the other does 1.7-3.5Nm.
@electrician247
@electrician247 3 года назад
Cheers James. Yeah I think they have another rated to 6Nm as well in europe.

I have/had the Wera 1.2-3.0Nm which I have just sent back today as the plastic between adjustment ring and bit holder snapped first time I used it as 2.5Nm, hence looking around for reviews, not sure if it was just bad luck or the manufacturing has been farmed out to the east

Does the Wiha iTorque fit VDE slim bits tightly? It looks like it does?

I've got the draper vde torque driver set. I can't be bothered to use it though. It's too fidly having to adjust settings up and down. With experiance you get to know where it is. The times I've double checked over with my torquedriver. The settings have pretty much been there or thereabouts. Nice little review Mark 👍.

Thank you for the video. Quick question: is the torque setting there to prevent over tightening so as not to damage the "main switch" or is it to reduce/prevent or eliminate the chance of fire through arcing? or both? Appreciate the videos - but like some one already mentioned - do put your feet up when you feel the need to!

Both to a point. To obtain the right torque on the conductors and component.

Does anyone know the tool end of the Wiha as I’ve just been given one without the adjusting tool? Is it an Allen key end of specific to Wiha as I can see these being lost if not kept in the case. Using a Armeg at the moment but Wiha VDE is brand new as as I use the slim bits with my Wiha set so I will get use out of it. Best regards, Scott. ✌️🙏✌️

What a great video cheers Mark really enjoyed the close-ups. Are they the types of gloves that you would use when using it or have you been cutting logs with a chainsaw😂😂 i personally have got the Armeg Of which I got as they were the only type that were stocked in my wholesalers at the time Plus Is a British brand. To be honest I’m not a fan of either of them brands For their screwdrivers. Wera I am a fan of all there other tools. Wera not going above 3Nm is comical and also worrying because Hager Main switch is advised to be 3.6 NM. I personally think that all the light and power accessories and MCB and RCBO’s should have a torque set cages terminals so once you tighten it it should click into place it should not be down to the engineer or installer to have to guarantee the tightness there should be a way for the manufacturers to create this within Their accessories I want to do a video on my RU-vid banging on about it. Cheers again Mark keep up the good work enjoy the videos

Great shout Will. They bloody should build that in. No argument then is there. Its MF fault if it goes wrong. Armeg is a good set used them a few times. You are spot on with the wera. They brought a bigger one out to remedy I believe. Bit still when you buy a torque driver at the wholesalers you expect it to cover domestic CUs at least! My hands are shafted mate. Look horrifc on camera dont want to turn anyones stomach lol. Thanks for the comment Will, appreciate it.
