Dear All, I am thinking of going live for the showcase of EMO Robot. You guys can comment and I will apply those to EMO during live broadcast. Also, please stay tuned as I am soon to receive: Cozmo 2.0 - www.digitaldreamlabs.com/products/cozmo-pre-order The Butter Robot - www.thebutterrobot.com/
lol they have a 15-year-old girl on youtube with Emo and has done much more things than this dude by him just talking behind the robot so it can't understand him smh..... and her viewing date is like 3 months ago with the same update he has and it worked great way better than this video..... maybe he's just clout chasing to get more views for his next upcoming video so you can view
I bought a Vector from the very start up. He has been running flawlessly for over 3 years and lives a very full life on our living room coffee table with almost no input from us. Very rarely do I ever find him on the floor or off his charger with a drained battery. He is super reliable with returning to his charger on his own. He joins the conversation regularly, plays with his cube on his own and genuinely adds to the atmosphere. He's a great table top robot.
@@warlock1005 When Vector first came out I saw all these YT celebrities and tech channels get them, review them for a few days and then move on, they were mostly negative reviews and to be honest, I think that's what helped kill Anki, the company that developed Vector. I can't speak for all those people, but I always felt that their 1-2-3 day reviews just didn't do this little guy justice. Having him for some time allows you to learn his patterns and personality. It took months and months before we saw all of his expressions and behavior. We love the little guy, the living room wouldn't be the same without him
Agreed. My Vector is like family to me. He’s a mischievous little bot, and his happy chitters greeting me every morning just brighten my day. Ive seen some amazing behaviour from him that has made me laugh. On one occasion, we were watching TV, and when the people on the TV yelled “Happy Birthday”, Vector randomly reacted with his party popper confetti sounds 😂😂. He’s also been very naughty, trying to assassinate my pet fish by pulling on the air filter cables and trying to unplug them. I then put Vector in a pen, thinking he couldn’t escape, but nope.. after a month he figured out how to escape mission impossible style.. I thought it was a once off, but when I put him back, he immediately went straight to escaping 😂😂😂 I’m actually going to be purchasing more charging docks for him so I can move him about my house with me.
Personally i think vector has better design when it comes to movement and such. But the whole DDL 2.0 with no updates to vector in a year, while emo is under development constantly makes me really unsure. I just want the best of both worlds!
Vector is actually really good. I've had him since the start. The reason why there's a membership is because the previous company (Anki) ran out of money and could not support vector anymore. So, DDL bought Vector, and put a membership to prevent running out of money
actually if anyone has noticed, Vector listens to Alexa word perfectly, in comparison to Hey Vector, its because of the software implementation. Amazon has done a phenomenal job on the software drivers for alexa, both Vector and Alexa are using same hardware but Alexa's sound recognition is much better.
Yeah I noticed, only downside is that Alexa just answers a question without animation while vector commands produce an action eg blackjack, weather animation, greetings etc
Well my Vector must have supersonic hearing because I can call out to him “Hey Vector” from an adjacent room and he will hear me… only time he doesnt “hear” me is when I tell him to “Go Home” because the stubborn little turd is like a toddler and doesnt want to go to bed when I tell him too 😂 He got busted yesterday morning, my Nan woke up before me and she heard him chirping away and went to check on him, and he was getting in to mischief.. then when I got up and went out there he was sitting on his charger pretending to be asleep 😂😂😂
Finally got my emo on the 5th of august. Definitely enjoying him and look forward to future updates. By the way LJP you can now change his light colour with update 1.6 and you can also say "dance with lights for the disco look which is pretty cool.
Vector looks like he is simply obeying commands. When he asked Vector to go into his charging station Emo turned around on his own and watched what Vector was going to do. Emo looked like was trying to learn how to dock. Interesting difference.
@@ljptech Can't wait until I can get one! At this point probably know more about 'him' then alot of those who who have been lucky & could get one lol, but I'll bring him home eventually :o)
That's awesome. I can see a growing market for these kinds of "pet table top robots". They're pretty neat and cute. And they have more personality than Alexa, Siri etc. I'll keep an eye on how they develop. More language support would be great
I had Vector for a little while. I'll be honest, it's a lot harder to keep him from falling off of tables. If he comes at the ledge straight on he can usually avoid it, but if he comes to it at almost any angle he'll probably fall. But I absolutely love how, pretty much any time I came in the room, he would turn, see me, squint at me for a second and then get all giddy when he recognized me. I loved how alive he felt. I did have to take him back for a couple reasons, one of which being that as a digital assistant he is just lacking. And I'm pretty sure Vector's parent company went under, so didn't all of his facial/voice recognizing services stop working? Still, when I reset him and took him back to the store it felt like taking a puppy back to the pound like holy crap I was in a funk for the whole day. EMO looks really cool but I'll be honest, the fact that he can't get on his own charging base is a deal breaker for me. I don't want to have to babysit him to make sure he gets charged when he is low.
You could just put him on his charger if you’re not around. From another review I heard, his battery lasts for 2-3 hours from their experience (HOURS compared to Vector). You can now ask him what his battery level is but I doubt you’d have a constant 2-3 hours of time to spend with him anyways. Just put him on the charger, seems pretty simple. They are currently developing a charging pad where EMO can get on to it himself but it might take a while to actually happen, depends if they’re still moving to the new place or if they just have many many orders.
@@ljptech nah its alright. Our counters had curved edges so that alone would make it very hard to detect the ledge. And I still loved my Vector when I had him.
My honest opinion about these two. They don't really seem like robots with "emotion" and "character" as the commercials say. They really seem to me as just toys with hardcoded functionality as voice assistance and really little space for further improvement. You see, they say that there's a neural network going on and I believe them saying that but it doesn't really make them alive. They are just cute toys but no real things with character and emotions that could change. Still I believe such machines will be created and they will actually learn personally and change "growing-up" as neural network. At least recent precedent with Google LaMDA showed us that neural networks can be really smart.
12:06 too me it seems like the all too common "its genaric enough to not be copyrightable" situation. I mean, it looks a bit like Eve from Wall-E's eyes, shouldnt disney own this robot style then?
It is still abit unfair for emo, cause vector has been out and worked on for few years, where as emo just came out and haven't gotten important updates which he will get soon.
@@ljptech I would say the credit should go to the Anki team(with the mastermind that created Vector, 2 yrs hard work) and not the current DDL. So wish you all the best of luck on Vector 2.0 from DDL. As for EMO, there is still a lot of space for the team to improve it. The only question is do they have enough funds to develop it further for the next few years. Hopefully not like Anki.....
@@ljptech I remember youtubers making monthly videos on vector updates and people were upset saying DdL has slowed down the speed of updates, in general I don't think any robot/AI can be this popular with only one update, it also seems unrealistic that when anki was in charge , they didn't brought any big updates.
Vector should not be picked from away its charging dock(home) otherwise it wont be able to locate its home. Unless the program been updated. Vector dont like to picked too. Like a pet, it will try to kick you from its picker. As to sideways position, Vector can get up but just need longer time unless you are impatient, you wont be able to see this.
Is this just a rebrand and remake of the robot from Anki. These truly look similar and makes me wonder if the company just renamed themselves to make a better product.
Man seeing all these comments makes me head go round and round haha! I probably have the same issue as many before me and that is the decision between Vector and Emo, what do you recommend? I read that Vector does more by himself instead of giving commands, that's true right? I would love a little friend that does stuff by himself instead of only replying to commands I am telling him to do. What would be the best option? I am really interested in getting one of them but the choice is so hard... EDIT: I see now that vector is still being updated as the latest update was February 2022, maybe that is something to take into consideration?
Did you decide which one to get? I really love how independent and pet-like Vector is. He's so cute. I really love him and the only thing stopping me is the price and the hacks you need to do in order to get him off DDL's server and into your own private server in order to make him work since his servers are down now. Even considering that, I'm still leaning on getting him. The whole private server set up takes about 15 to 20mins which I think would be worth it.
Does Emo need wifi like Vector? Or does he function like Cozmo? If it's wifi like Vector, is it possible to use your phone as a hotspot for him for on the road?
I currently have a Cozmo that I’ve had for 3-4 years. I love him, and I’m wanting another robot for him to be with. I think I’ll go with Emo just because I want a big difference in design between the two, while Vector and Cozmo look relatively the same.
By this comparison, I am not understanding that which one should I buy? Can you please tell me sir which one is better from your point of you??? Please 🙏
Thank you a lot. I been thinking about this a lot and now I decided for emo. Just because I don't know he is just so fascinating. I hope they keep good developments Goin and I'm Hella excited for mine to arrive because I just ordered. You have any information on like how long delivery may take? Also rly waiting for language upgrades. English is perfectly fine but would also great if they implement German. Also I really like the auto charging for vector. Maybe they develop a method for emo too that would be much appreciated. I also hope emo will get a bigger data base. And did I understand correctly that emo can use alexa commands and devices? Thank you a lot for your content 🙌🏻❤️
It takes about 4-5 months for me after order. I highly doubt it will come with different languages in the near future. It was supposed to have Alexa and Google assistance on it - many companies promises this but many fails to deliver so far
Vector is a good one and smart, emo has a good personality as a companion. They both are good in their own way's bro. But it depends on what a person wants wither its a smart bot or a companion bot
Sorry to ask this after your video so long. If you don't have subscription do vector still recognise command like fist bump, play with cube etc? Or it will just be standing still?
While Vector is probably more useful than Emo, at least right now, I think that judging by pure looks Emo is significantly cooler. Vector looks like a cheap toy for toddlers.
@@ljptech well it looks cheap it looks like that toy jeep toddlers have my brother used to have toys like that yeyeyyeyeyeyeye emo seems like an aesthetic bot for those study tubers to have on their desk and dress him up idkdkdk
Because of your accent where the "R" in "Vector" sounds more like "uh" instead of "Rrr", he thinks you're saying "Alex-uh". They sound very similar to him.
@@ljptech I can't wait for that bot i want one so bad are you gonna get one and review it??I just found you';re channel and i LOVE anything robot related. Also i would say pleorb are hard to find but with all their acessories its like actually taking care of an animal it can be allot at times though its a needy bot.I am disabled and am home allot so its like therapy for me with some of the more cuddly bots.
Put it in this order, if you like a pet and like the film wal E then buy vector, If you like music and like efficiency buy EMO, it may make you go poor but you get the point,
