This turned out to be a good tool to find the "hidden vectors" that the vector validator can't find, but when you try to generate a tool path, open vector errors pop up. When you zoom in, you see a tiny tiny problem with a vector but the scissors won't cut it out. Use the node thing to move the good vector out of the way and fix it, move the vector back.
@IDCWoodcraft
@IDCWoodcraft Год назад
Dan, those pesky vectors can be tricky. Glad you found a good way to find the small issues that pop up now and again.
@woody987654
@woody987654 Год назад
As usual Garrett, a wealth of information! As soon as I watched this video, I returned to a project I was having issues with and fixed those issue straight away! Some of the issues I was having, had to do with straight line edits, for instance, you have an open ended on one end slot that measured .250" and you need it it to be .264" If you open the Snap options under the Edit menu, then look for the "Fixed Nudge Distance" you can set that to .007" or whatever you need. Then you select the nodes on say, the left side of the slot, then press and hold the "Shift + CTRL" keys then hit the left arrow key and the line between the two selected nodes will move left or right precisely .007" or whatever you have the "Fixed Nudge Distance" set to. Then repeat for the right side of the slot and move it to the right. Now your open ended slot is exactly .264" The cool thing about it, is if you have many of those slots to edit, you can select as many of those slots that you want so long as the nodes are clearly distinguishable, and that they are aligned the same way. Node editing is a Godsend! Thanks Garrett!
@IDCWoodcraft
@IDCWoodcraft Год назад
Frank, glad you got those pesky nodes figured out when you need that dimension to be perfect. I couldn't have said it better myself, node editing is a Godsend!
@DakotahDaddy

This is a useful trick I have been using for a while now. It really comes in handy when you want to preserve the node placement of a section and move them together in relation to the rest of the model. Another tip to add to this is that you can also use the CTRL and SHIFT keys in combination with the cursor keys to make finer or coarser movements making it much easier to add that additional level of precision to your drawings.

As always you have made our CNC experience much more enjoyable. Some place I saw where you can drop the amount of nodes that are in a vector. Sometimes when I create a vector and go into node editing there is a bunch of nodes and the only to get rid of the nodes is to click on each one then delete. Some place I’ve seen a much quicker way of deleting them. I’m sure you can help. Another great video to go into my “Tips from Garrett” folder. LT
