Personally, the best cutscene I've ever seen in all of gaming. It speaks the true hardships of being human and all we have to endure in our lives despite it. It made me bawl my eyes out...

Same! I honestly didn't realize just how good it was until I saw so many people discussing it first thing after finishing the MSQ. Definitely one of my favorite ones to this day! 😭❤️

14:00 Zodiark was already summoned, the scene is depicting the 3rd sacrifice attempt where they're going to use the new born life to bring back the previously sacrificed ancients. They just didn't use a different backdrop for it.

Yup. The whole part of Venat in Amaurot is largely symbolic in nature. You can tell because of how it stitches together several totally separate events. The first one, where she walks past a guy who gets eaten represents the initial hell of the first Final Days. The second scene with Emet and Hythlo represents the summoning of Zodiark. We know this since Hythlo was confirmed earlier to have been among the sacrifices. The scene with Hermes represents when they decided to sacrifice MORE Ancients to restore the natural order. The last scene where Venat tries and fails to admonish the remaining Ancients straight shows us at this point Zodiark already exist. It's there to represent Venat initially becoming Hydaelyn, and stopping her people from continuing to sacrifice even more. The following scenes in the hallway of darkness are pretty self explanatory.

Pretty sure this was the first sacrifice since the world is still broken, like the first sacrifice brought balance, the second nature and the last that never happened was supposed to bring back those who were sacrificed
@perrydunetz882
@perrydunetz882 2 года назад
Nope, it’s the first, because we see hythlodeus and he was part of the first sacrifice, then theirs a flash forward and we see the second

Zodiark was only summoned once. Primals stay unless they dissipate themselves voluntarily, get beaten back into Aether or are dismissed by their summoners. The thirteen leftover members of the Convocation were pretty much hopelessly Tempered; although they would not have noticed this as there would be no precedence to a summoning at this scale and no creation would likely have been strong enough to impair the summoners aether. What we see is a general timeline of events and memories by an untrustworthy narrator. For Venat this all happened tens of thousands of years ago as well, and once she gave her essence to become the Heart of Hydaelyn, her perception would likely be slightly skewed. I believe what we see is indeed her interpretation of people just constantly throwing their life at Zodiark in despair to bring back what they lost. Inadvertantly allowing Meteion to win anyway. This could be the second sacrifice to kickstart the Aether again, or even further offerings along the way.

Oh definitely! I spend a lot of time in Journey's End, rewatching old cutscenes and letting it all sink in. I started in May this year and it's been a bit overwhelming, but I think I'm catching up 😅

A lot of the final cutscene is not in line with the sequence of events as we know it. For one example, Venat, Hythlodaeus, Emet-Selch and Hermes are massless in public. Major social taboo. It’s definitely meant to be symbolic, but no less enjoyable to watch. Venat had people to side with her and create Hydaelyn. It’s not a memory necessarily, but representative of the struggle on her side through the ages.

Venat was not Hydaelyn yet in this cutscene, you're absolutely right by saying she came after, this cutscene is her talking about the things that happened after this cutscene and then we see a little sundering of those guys, but in 5.2 you get a cutscene with her and her people about to create Hydaelyn, is the same cutscene were we are told elidibus is the heart of Zodiark, so it's clear that this was not the full sundering in her Hydaelyn form.

Technically, this scene is an allegory of what happened. It's a visual depiction of a series of events that happened over a longer period of time.

No. They're not on the moon. The moon was created by Headlyn, after the sundering.

I took it they were the original beings in all of their elegance and grandeur. Being that we're merely reflections and sundered souls, we're tiny in that regard.

maybe all those sacrificed to summon hydaelyn are those in our age those who has the awoken echo naturally. And don't forget Azem was part of 14 that refused to summon zodiark, and maybe sacrificed to Venat instead.
@FatuaFleur

This doesn't make sense. The Warrior of Light is sundered Azem, been mentioned a couple of times. If Azem was sacrificed to Venat that would mean there is no Warrior of Light.

If you recall the meeting with the shade of Hythlodaeus... - Zodiark was summoned to end the Final Days; this cost about half of the Etheirians left. - Zodiark then received further sacrifice to revitalize the world so life could grow again; this cost about another third. - After that they set to repopulating the world with life again. Most likely using their amazing lifespan to put in new creatures and plants and all that stuff. The Convocation -now pretty much the Ascians- would decide to take all that life full of aether and exchange that with Zodiark to get the souls of their own people back. - Not until after that point did Hydaelyn come along and sunder the world. At this point there would be a large number of Etheirians still alive AND a great number of souls belonging to this new life/new people. Everyone got sundered and everyone got thrown into the mixing pot of Lifestream (Apart from the three we know). Taking that, it's my belief that those who awaken the Echo are the ones who used to be Ancient Etheirians. And those who don't but do feel the recollection of loss (like we saw back on the First) may be sundered souls of the 'new people'.
