I love this constellation, Vega is my favourite star, it always pops up higher and higher when you can feel the summer coming again. I actually wrote a composition for harp and euphonium called Vega a month ago because I love it so much. Thank you for the great videos over the years!
I moved from a country where there is a LOT of light polution. since my childhood I was always interested with stars and everything but the lights were blocking my view most of the time.. so when I moved in a country where the lights are off in the night.. omg I cant describe the feeling of discovering my beloved stars again, so I was always going out to stargazing. Since I am alone, I wanted something to talk with. That night when summer arrived, I looked up and saw Vega... I immediately locked up on her and couldnt watch any other stars. I searched which star it was and I learned more and more day by day, I even bought books about constellations and since then Vega is my favorite star and Lyra my favorite constellation. I also started to write a novel with Vega (and the stars) as metaphors. ✨
I know exactly how you feel. I grew up where there was lots of light pollution, but when I visited to Hawai'i, I couldn't believe how many stars there were! It truly changed my life...I ended up moving there and learning all of this stuff in detail. Thank you for sharing your experience.
I do out of body travel and I often visit these caves in dreams . I was talking to someone else who described the same thing and said in a channeled message she got that it relates to Vega . So here I am
I had a children's folktale book on the story of Vega and Altair so I'm familiar with the Japanese myth behind the Summer Triangle. I knew of Orpheus and Eurydice, but I didn't know how they died! So tragic, but the stars are incredibly beautiful~ Thank you for another educational video! 🥰
I am always delighted in the fact that when I look up at the sky, I am seeing the star as it was when I was 29, or 14, or still to be born... I am 54 now
My current dog a doberman is named Lyra, my previous dog died at 4 1/2 years old also a doberman her name was Vega. When I lost her I was devastated once I made the decision to get another I put deposit on a puppy (not born yet). I started thinking about a name for her. I googled Vega and when I read Vega is in the constellation Lyra...that was it! Needless to say I've become a star gazer and have an am currently learning more and more. I love your channel, thank you for all the information which is easy to understand and follow.
Great to learn from you again. Thanks for all the details-the mix of science history and mythology is fascinating. Cant forget it. I learnt about Vega from you- 2 years or there abouts ago. Thanks and keep up the great job .
Hi Janine, the first time I came across with Vega was through Guerlin’s first parfume. During COVID 19-time I read a lot on your channel. Much appreciated what you are doing for us. Meanwhile my referring constellation is Cassiopeia. Yesterday I could enjoy from Brussels the perseid showers, all thanks to your channel. I’m always looking forward to your lectures.
I don't know alot but when I look at the stars I get info. I get awesome view of the big dipper. Full moon last night energy every where. Vega has caught my attention I thought it was venus for a while. I can talk much about the rest else where
I was just looking at the Sky tonight, and then as habit used night sky app and then came to Vega and then to your video. I could not imagine some good person explain everything so concretely in simple language that you just land in the middle of universe knowledge. It means how predominate you are on what you explain. Thank you for your time and the great video. It was very intresting and I would love to continue seeing your videos if they are in simple language like this here (haha) 🙏🏼
Love that you showed the Hertzsprung-Russell Diagram Color Magnitude Scale, good show Janine. Can see the Teacher vibe you have. I chose the money and became an engineer, but during Coving I tutored my grandchildren and discovered I had the teaching vibe too. Good teachers are a must.
Hi, love your channel! I observe from Wellington, New Zealand and Vega is relatively low down in the sky but I always look forward to its reappearance in our late winter evening skies. My favourite of the low northern stars along with Arcturus, Deneb and Capella. The Maori name is Whanui.
I love Vega! I can’t locate the rest of the constellation because of light pollution & summer humidity but I can always find Vega right overhead! I learned so many new characteristics such as Vega being the standard for brightness - “0”; never knew that. Thank you .
Vega is one of our closest stellar neighbors. Learn about how to find it, why it's an important star to astronomers, and ancient mythologies surrounding this star.
I really like this lesson. Vega is also associated with the solar apex en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_apex More as a clear marker And more recently as the direction of 'Oumuamua's approach. Which I found interesting. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%CA%BBOumuamua
I wanted to know if you would please do a video on the Rigel Star system I would love to listen to you talk about Rigel i really enjoyed the video on Vega thanks
Let me be perfectly honest here… I’ve never heard anyone say my last name more times than I’ve heard it in this video just now. And I love it 🥰😂 you say it SO beautifully! Haha, thanks!
I was outside watching the sky to see the perseid meteor shower, then I noticed a very bright bluish star. Opened the Sky app found out that it was Vega. Which I later learned it's in a harp shaped constellation. My favourite instrument is harp I love its sound and everything. I wanna learn more about Vega and Orpheus, thank you for the video. ⭐️
Circumpolar for me and after Capella the closet first magnitude star to the North Celestial Pole.Lyra is a nice little constellation with a few naked eye double stars.I can vouch for the fact Vega is low from the southern hemisphere as I remember looking at it from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa (about 29 degrees south) and stars like Vega, Capella and Deneb use to be low over the hills to the north .I saw it from Sydney too about 4 years ago and it was low.
Growing up in the Panhandle of Texas, everyone knew almost all the small towns that exist in that area, which includes Vega. Its name is derived from the Spanish word for meadow. When I listened to this video, it took me back to my younger days and all the small towns I visited around there. Today, I spend just as much time looking at the sky, attempting to learn about the various stars and constellations so that I can pass it on to star party visitors. Keep up the great work!
I inquiring about Vega because every time I look up I see a twinkle star above me ❤. Like she is looking at me or following me I used the app and is always Vega. I’m currently south NV, USA
Chinese legend is the sewing girl in Hans legend. The birds (magpie not sure how it related to swan?) is helping to see the cow boy star Altair once a year on 7 July. Btw you can see the sons of Altair on the left and right.
Vega and Altair are interesting, but nothing compared with Deneb, almost 3000 light years in distance and still prominent enough to be part of an asterism, the brightest star of its constellation and the number 19 in the sky, i can imagine this monster in place of Vega or Altair, it surely would be visible day and night and compete with the full moon.
The Chinese folklore was very very old, at least already frequently in the poems of the Han dynasty (~200BC-200AD). So I am pretty sure the Japanese version originates from the Chinese one.
I have one question. When I go on Stellarium or Star Walk 2, for example Lyra doesn't have that one more star on top. But when i look at your videos or on Wikipedia it seems to have that one more star. Same with Perseus, Andromeda, Bootes, Camelopardalis, Aquila and so on... So, how does the official constellation sky map look?
Constellations don't have any kind of official pattern that must be followed (unlike declination, boundaries, right ascencion, star classification, etc etc), so almost all of the 88 constellations will have at least two different patterns and its up to you which is the "best" pattern for each one.
The patterns I use come from the International Astronomical Union (IAU), and this is what astronomers refer to when looking at the constellation boundaries. the IAU set the boundaries in 1929. I have always been frustrated at how much the patterns vary according to the source. However, many cultures have different patterns for constellations. I just try to stick to what astronomers use.
The first time I saw at the night sky in Iceland and saw a star that was very bright and for many years that star has been there at the same spot the we where learning astronomy in school and I found a app that can see star in the night sky and know what there names are. Once I was in Denmark after a long trip from Sweden I used the app and found vega and it interested me another star was there
Hello, I'm a space enthusiast and I love studying about the stars in the night sky, and I'm very much interested in the suspected fact that Vega has an orbiting planet, I too want to read the Journal to understand much more on the ongoing research, can you please send me the link of the article...?
Decade of Radial-velocity Monitoring of Vega and New Limits on the Presence of Planets: iopscience.iop.org/article/10.3847/1538-3881/abdec8 I added it to the video description.
Hello. Vega has an orange gaseous planet, green gaseous planet, a yellow gaseous planet, and part of the debris disk is the destroyed planet ,rocky planet Avyon, and a different rocky planet. Vega is not 400 million years old to 800 mil years old, it must be older than Earth's sun.
I would like to speak to you about the knowledge you have on Vega system it’s a spiritual as well as scientific project that I part of and I don’t understand fully and I thought maybe you might be able to bring some light to it. Thank you if you respond thank you if you don’t respond just thank you today your knowledge help me understand a little bit more about the Vegas system.
Really nicely done. This is way off topic, but maybe someone knows this... Are there any stars that would cause some sort of space weather here on Earth if they went supernova? What could the possible effects be? Great auroras or everyone gets burnt?
The closest Star to us that could go supernova is 150 light years away and Is called IK Pegasi. It is not likely to explode in our lifetime as it has t even become a red giant yet. There are lots of theories and models as to whether it would effect Earth’s biosphere.
Betleguise (the eye of Taurus) could have blown up 500 years ago and we wouldn’t know it yet. But it’s worth watching because it’s ready to go supernova. It light may just be waiting to reach us.
Thanks for mentioning that Chinese love tale predates than Japanese story. Japan learned everything from China during Chinese Tang dynasty; Similar to Korea, they learned everything from China during Chinese Ming Dynasty. So today, Japan is like the snap shot of Chinese Tang dynasty and Korea is like the snap shot of Chinese Ming dynasty.
I love learning about the stories of the stars. I am especially fascinated by both Chinese and Japanese legends. Thank you for sharing this information.
When you share the same Birthday as your Mom and Dad''s Birthday it makes me wonder. I am an only child and my Mom, Dad and myself are all born in a triangle situation. 3 people , 3 sides, equal triangle in shapes. This star forms a triangle.
Thank you for making this video I watched contact 11 times today im watching it again There is a GREEN GASEOUS PLANET,YELLOW GASEOUS PLANET,AND ORANGE/REDDISH HOT PLANET IN VEGA! THE DEBRIS DISK ARE PIECES OF ROCKY PLANETS AVYON AND THAT GREEN PLANET rocky planet
Very nice videos you make, and I have been binge-watching them. I do wish, however, that you either keep a bit of a distance to your mic or get a pop-filter, as I hear a lot of pop'ing when you record your narration. Such a shame to your otherwise very interesting videos.
Read the book of Job. He found the stars. I found them through strongs concordance in the Bible while coding various things within the Bible and the matrix of the earth existance.
